What youth movement? We've literally only cut players 99% of people wanted to cut anyway. The only "young" player we have brought on is Stills and even he has multiple seasons under his belt.[/QUOTE
By youth movement, I am referring to the fact the Dolphins under Tannbaum seem to be intent on starting several of the younger players who have been on the team for a year or two, but haven't been in starting positions as of this time.
Other than signing Suh and bringing back Delmas, it appears the Dolphins are now starting to realize that bringing in overpriced veteran free agents gets you no where but another 500 season.
I am not opposed to going with the younger players on the roster. But since many of them have never been starters in the NFL, we have no idea how they will perform once they are starters and no longer backup players.
Right now the Dolphins have one of the youngest rosters in the NFL and I expect it to get even younger with the addition of the rookies who will be added in the draft.
I believe giving playing time to the younger players will allow the FO the opportunity to see who they want to build this team around during the next several years. I just think it will take a couple of years to fill the needs on the roster and some of the young players the Dolphins seem to be counting on to be starters next season may or may not be effective starters in the NFL.
I believe Tannebaum is looking at 2016 as the year the team might jell after the younger players get another year of experience. I think he is probably already determining in his own mind who he can hire as the next head coach to get the best out of the young team going forward.
Philbin is not a good NFL head coach and for this team to get beyond mediocre, Tannebaum needs to find a much better head coach after the 2015 season is over.
