On QBs: "First and foremost they gotta be a great decision-maker; second thing is you gotta make plays ... at critical times in the games."
These are the intangibles that we rarely hear about in QB scouting in the draft (which often focuses on arm strength or athleticism) - and I'm glad to see that Philbin talks about this. The ability to make great decisions in a split second is such a difficult intangible to measure (who saw this in Brady?) and hopefully RT has this inside him and can develop it.
An important element, imo, is developing confidence. Many QB's have lost their way b/c they lose their confidence. This is why I think that it's a positive for them to take their time with RT. They did this at Green Bay with Rodgers. Having great talent in place will be a big plus as well. Ultimately, he needs to get in there in games and compete but it would not bother me if he didn't get much PT this year; although I suspect we'll be out of it the last 3 games and that might be okay.FinNasty likes this. -

Also interesting to also see on NFL AM when they had highlights in the background that the starting OL had Martin at RT and Jerry at RG. The 2nd/3rd string had Steinbach at LG and Murtha at LT.

Maybe one last look at Jerry to be sure about cutting his sizeable out of shape arse. -

They also had an interview with Tannehill, they are going to be replaying it on NFL Network throughout the day.

^ That's a stereo-tight.
More on-topic though, John Jerry is not at all the right size, speed or agility for a zone blocking system. He definitely doesn't start. Maybe doesn't make the team, though we are thin at backup OL.MikeHoncho likes this. -

I was impressed with Joe Phelps interview.
I came away with the impression, though, that he fully intends to sit Tannehill this year. Can't say why, it's just the feeling I got.SICK likes this. -
