The Dolphins' plans "definitely" involve second-year QB John Beck, according to the Miami Herald's Armando Salguero.
Salguero believes that coach Tony Sparano considers Beck part of the 'Fins' future nucleus, along with Ted Ginn and Ronnie Brown. Salguero also notes that Miami's draft board is set, but doesn't know who the team will take first.

I think it goes without saying that Beck is part of their plans. He's a QB on the roster. He definitely figures in somewhere.

I agree with you.. I'm hoping he comes into his own this year, and earns the starting job. I also think there's a good chance we will be drafting another 2nd Round QB this year. Either way, I'm hoping for a solid starter for years to come. That goes without saying.:tongue2: -

First I would say you have to read between the lines with anything Sparano says. To be truthful I'm somewhat surprised that he would say much if anything. Parcells is known to want everyone to "Shut Up" and Tony may have, half way thru, thought maybe he should not paint such a rosey picture of John at this time so he threw in some qualifers. Plus as for as I'm concerned Tim qualifys as a 3rd grade reporter in my book and I've said so to him 2 or 3 times.

Where there's smoke, there's fire folks. Matt Ryan may just happen. Wouldn't shock me. What would is the Jake Long stuff.

well good to hear they haven't given up on Beck yet. I think its a good thing that they are pointing out his flaws and weaknesses though. Try and hopefully motivate him to work even harder than he probably already is

I don't believe Beck has much to worry about provided he does what he has always done, and that is listen to the coaches and work very hard at improving on what needs to be improved. Of course he had problems with the game speed last year. When certain members of the O-Line forgot how to block when he came in and without any type of a reliable ground game, not to many QB out there are going to look like they can handle the game speed. I don't doubt that there will be an open competition at the start of camp, but I think John will soon start to separate himself and become the steal of the 2007 draft.
Dang I really like these new sunglasses I have on right now, kinda aquaish tint to them but they feel real nice.:yes:Themole likes this. -
Cameron had no idea what he was doing out there.

Sparano says my boy Josh will have the opportunity to compete for the starting QB position. My prediction is he will win it, and turn into the next John Gannon for us. You watch. No prejudice here . . .

Here is a YouTube video of Beck throwing it 70 yards for BYU. I didn't think he had that strong an arm. Check it out:

I think that Sparano is alright with a competition between John and Josh right now. Is he 100%, definately not. I do believe they are still looking around, just with a very low profile. That does not mean I think we burn the 1st overall with Ryan. I do think that we will be watching the wires to see when some other servicable QB's could be cut from other teams or perhaps take a flier on someone in the later rounds of the draft. We were a god awful team last year and there really aren't too many areas that don't need improving, and these guys know that and realize they can't fix it overnight, so I look for them to try to plug what they can with what they're most comfortable with when they can. It will probabally be a lot of the Best Player Available Per Priority. I feel they have a board of Must Fix and Like To Fix spots on this squad, with the Must Fix geting their immediate attention ( Like our pourous Defense, shoddy Offensive Line and horrendous Special Teams play last year) and Like To Fix spots being our Secondary, MLBs, TEs, WRs, and even QBs. With the improvement on Special Teams we could help stretch the fiels on D and put some points to help our struggling offense. We are most certainly looking at the O line this draft as it is still incomplete and the same could be said on the defensive side of the ball. All I'm saying is we have to take what we can get at a lot of positions and trust that Sparano and Ireland believe they are worthy of the pick at the time. I'm hoping for a very different draft for Miami this year with a lot more hits than misses as we have all grown accustomed to.

Good to know.

It will be interesting to see if Beck can pull it together this year. I think he has the tools, just can he use them...
-
with a stronger running game and ol i think he will -
But, in general, some more reps with the first team, some decent playing time the first team in real game that is not being played in a swamp, or out of sheer desperation, and someone who actually knows the game of football coaching might help as well. -
Yeah and C Pep might be seen in a Dolphins uniform this season also..

Im glad Beck is strongly being considered. Yes his first season was rough but its all in learning. To be honest he did show some signs of potential, especially in the last game. I know he's hard at work and i have a good feeling it will pay off. Im really hoping it does at least.
