Guys,
based on our history with backup qb's, I am not sure if this is good news.

I mean it gets worse behind mcCown, we are twlking practice squad quality.
I just find it pathetic that it would take this much for us to be competitive. We couldnt even beat brady's two backups yesterdaygunn34 likes this. -
let's just feel what a win looks like, will be interesting to see what Cincy looks like after Denver has them

Cody Kessler is the next man up. From what I've studied, his accuracy is pin-point, but he's an extremely conservative passer. Low-risk, low-reward approach to the game. I'm expecting a plethora of short passes and screens, even more so because Cameron Wake and Ndamukong Suh are going to eat up the right side of that offensive line (John Greco, Austin Pasztor). Should be a nice rebound game for our defense... should.

From a fantasy perspective I'm pissed. I stored Josh Gordon away on my bench and was getting excited at the prospects of McCown throwing to him instead of RGIII.

We'll probably find out who's next after him. We're 2 for 2. How is Cleveland's oline? They hung 20 on Baltimore.

i should feel pretty confident in a victory this week, then again i remember geno smith having a perfect rating against us and thad lewis beating us twice.

Browns should be run heavy. Kessler has a weak but accurate arm. Short to intermediate he is good. Deep he is horrible

The Dolphins are world renowned for their ability to play down to the level of any opponent. Nothing will be guaranteed.

We're 10 point favorites and by far the biggest survivor pool pick this week. That makes me nervous. I want to see us play the kind of game we should be playing in our home opener against a team we are better than. Show us this isn't the same old story of past coaching staffs.MonstBlitz and Unlucky 13 like this. -
So a great measuring stick for this offense is whether we score more or less than 27 points.gunn34 and Pandarilla like this. -
In all reality, we have to start giving something at least resembling a little bit of credit to NE and to Jimmy Garoppolo who played a hell of a half. The guy is a 2nd round pick from 2014. He was a 4-yr starter at Eastern Illinois who posted over 13k yards and 118 TDs. The guy can throw a football, no question about it. He’s not some schlep UDFA. And we know the Josh McDaniels and that Patriot offense can put young QBs in good positions.
To put it into perspective, Garoppolo went into Arizona and put up 234 yards and a TD without turning it over. The dude went against that secondary and posted a 106 rating. And if you question Arizona’s defense consider that just got 4 INTs off of Jameis Winston this Sunday. People here may not respect Jimmy Garoppolo but he’s played well when given a chance.
At some point you have to give credit where it’s due. Sunday can’t be all about Miami’s D not showing up. Garoppolo made some great reads and threw the ball like a legit QB prospect. It wasn’t really Jimmy Garoppolo who embarrassed Miami either. It was those NE receivers who were getting open pretty easily.
The Browns don’t have the receivers NE does so I honestly doubt we see that happen, particularly given the QB situation there but I’m not going to sit here and defend Miami’s D. They need to show up and prove it after getting toasted last week.Finrunner and Pandarilla like this. -
We have so much "game tape" on the Dolphins D not playing well. Garoppolo's still new, so yes he looked real impressive, but will he continue to do so once there's a lot of game tape on him? We've seen 1 year wonders at QB before.
So for me, most of the blame is still on the Dolphins defense. -
It's not Tom Brady in there, but it doesn't mean your expectations should be for the NE offense to suck. Clearly they do not. This forum came away slamming the Dolphins D for allowing Garopollo to play well. Well, he's in a position to succeed quite truthfully. His college career proved he was an ample passer and so far that's what he's been. He beat a better defense in Arizona the week before. Maybe it's him. Maybe it's a lack of tape. Maybe it's McDaniels. Maybe it's the system. I don't care. It's mostly likely all those factors, right?
The embarrassing aspect was how the NE receivers got open. That's who beat you. The NE QB was simply never going to look as inept as most Dolphins fan led themselves to believe.cbrad likes this. -

We're going to smoke the Browns like something out of a Cheech and Chong movie.
