I have a friend on the medical staff at cal and I asked him about Keenan Allen a few months ago when it was looking like he could be a top ten pick, and his response was basically that 'he isn't worth the dolphins trading up for'. That's a pretty moot statement now, but I the opinion I got from him seemed to mirror the reports of him being lazy and having mental lapses. However, the talent is undeniably top ten worthy if he puts it together. He's falling like very few are, and would be an absolute steal in the second. As far as the drug test, it's stupid, but there is more weed in the bay area than any place I've ever lived. You can smoke it everywhere and the police don't say anything. It's still stupid to risk millions, but it sounds like he's an idiot.

Also interesting he said that he treated marshawn lynch once, who greeted him with 'you must be really excited to be treating me.' and the biggest jerk he's ever met at cal was desean Jackson, who was just an awful human being apparently.

 

I like the guy, but with all this news I wouldn't draft him in the first or second or third.

 

Huh... well, that's disappointing. Obviously doesn't have brains to go with the talent. I hate to say it, but... he'd be off my list.

Hum, this really makes me wonder now. Miami had their eye on him but we will see if this has any effect.

 

Philbin is all about players being professionals. I can't see how not being professional enough to understand that you have to be drug free by a certain date wouldn't impact his opinion of Allen. Then throw in the lazy/idiot rumors that existed before this and I doubt he's on Miami's first round board. Based on game tape, he struck me as similar to the type of WR GB drafted and was therefore a possibility. My guess is they were interested, investigated and were less than impressed with what they heard.

That would include LOTS if scenarios. Excessive water consumption, especially while recovering from injury is quite normal.

I would think there would have to be more to it in order to report a red flag.

Will be interesting to see where this ends.

 

But if abnormally high levels of water are also consistent with people trying to purge the drugs from their body, why would you need more to have a red flag? A red flag after all, is just a reason to investigate further not an indictment of anything.

 

Which is why I suggest it will be interesting to see,how it turns out.

If he's guilty, shame on him.
If he's trying to recover from injury, shame on the system that might knock him down a round or so.

Won't surprise me either way at this juncture.
