I have a Xbox 360 elite with guitar hero...and quite a few games so its safe to say I have some money in it. Not to mention my woman got it for me last yr and she really doesn't want me to get rid of it. But I am thinking about trading it in for a PS3. Some of the newer games coming out look alot sharper on the PS3 not to mention GOW3 and I have quite a few friends that have both systems. I cant buy a PS3 flatout....
Thoughts?

I wouldn't get rid of it... Gears 3 is a year away and you're going want that.
I guess it comes down to online community for me, and the 360 has that in spades. The only thing the Ps3 has that really matters is Blu Ray. Beyond that, there's not much the Ps3 has that I want (MLB the show the best exclusive Ps3 has).Big E likes this. -

The way I look at it is this:
If youre a gamer, get a 360. They have a much larger game selection.
If youre not, like me, get a PS3, especially if u have a killer home entertainment system. I know this sounds weird or stupid, but the last thing I bought my PS3 for was games. I bought it mainly as a player for various media. I dont have more than 5 games for it(Madden, NBA2k10, Fight Night 4, Ghostbusters, and Need for Speed Shift), but I still use it everyday.Big E likes this. -
PS3 is starting to get some great titles.
Then again I haven't played a console game since Mass Effect 2. -
XBox Live destroys PS3 online.
End of story. -

I have both systems. No comparison when it comes to the online service.

It could be $10 for a year for all I care, but it still better be better since you have to pay for it. $50 isn't a lot for what you get but $50 is a heck of a lot more than "free." -

I'd look for a way to get both. If I had to choose just one it would be a pretty tough choice. I haven't played the 360 in a while because of God of War 3 and MLB the Show. I can honestly say God of War is good enough to buy a system for. The problem is I don't know if it's good enough to give up another system for. It's great but it's not exactly a 50 hour game or anything. I like the 360 achievement system a lot better than what PS3 has, though that's kind of a stupid reason by itself. I do pay for Xbox Live but to me it's not significantly different than PSN. That's just from my perspective relative to what I do on my consoles. A lot more people are online but from a functional standpoint to me it's not like the difference is going to change my life. People who rant and rave about how superior Live is might be fanboys to tell the truth. The difference isn't as significant as some would have you think. Just my opinion. A lot of people who have went on to me about how much better Live is have never even used PSN.
If I were you I'd keep the 360 for now and save up for a PS3 in addition to that. -

Would you recommend he buy a PS3 and be content saying to himself, "well...it's not as good, but it's FREE!"?
Like the old saying goes, you get what you pay for. :wink2: -

Fanboys. :tongue2:

Why not just make the switch and see for yourself? Worse case scenario you don't get to play your 360 for awhile until you save up for a 360. The games aren't going anywhere. For the record, I love my 360 so I don't really have any desire to switch. The red ring of death only affected me once.

can't go wrong with either one. i'd say keep your 360 and save some money.

i thought you had a ps3 already brah

Best thing about PS3 is...
NO RED RING OF DEATH! -

The 360 came out in Nov 2005, and the PS3 in Nov 2006. It's been plenty long enough for both for a number of failures to come out.
You can point to the new chip in the 360, but others could point to the PS3 SLIM as well.
The 360 is just 3x more likely to fail. That's all there is to it. :tongue2:FinSane likes this. -
I have all consoles and a main pc gaming rig honestly you should keep the 360 there are great exclusives coming for it halo reach gears 3 Allan wake and plenty more
I buy all my single player games for ps3 or pc and all multiplayer games for 360 just beacuse of how much better live is for grouping invites party chats and parental controls
Just my 2 centsBig E and texanphinatic like this. -
360 Elites seem to hold up pretty well. Had mine since they about came out and havent had any issues with it. Both systems are good - you cant go wrong with either. Keep the 360 and if you really want a PS3 save up or work some overtime or something. :)

PS3 and come back to madden league.
The madden league, GOW3 and Heavy Rain alone made me enjoy my purchase -
Also I think saying which is better, Live or PSN, is based on what you want in an online experience. For instance if all you want is to get online and play then the PS3 is totally fine. However if you want all the bells and whistles and are willing to pay then get Live. I like Live's ability to let you try just about every arcade game though. Also think about community. I have tried Live online with some of the Gears games, Halo 3, and both Battlefield Bad Company 2 and 1943 demos and hated it. Just a bunch of kids screaming and people cursing...too much for me. When I game online I like to have silence and just talk if needed which PSN gives me along with much better companions I've found. No doubt though Live will give you a more active community but the point is to go with what you like to determine which is better. Features doesn't mean everything when it all really comes down to what you like.
True the 360 has more games but once again it comes down to what kind of games you like. Once again I side with the PS3 because of GOW3, Uncharted 1 & 2, The Resistance Series, Killzone 2, etc. The 360 has some great games too like the Gears Series, Splinter Cell: Conviction, Alan Wake, The Mass Effect Series, etc. Really it'll come down to which games attract you E. I prefer the PS3 and play it almost exclusively (the poor 360 has sat inactive for the last couple months lol). I say get a PS3 if it really intrigues you and you are tired of the 360 but if you are on the fence maybe just stay put. -
Thanks for the opinion guys....as much as I enjoy getting my arse handed to me on Madden in the PS3 league I think I am holding on to my 360. :knucks:
