Yes, no, maybe?

Well, he's basically a wide receiver. I don't know that Philbin wants to deal with any more dumbasses, though.

If they aren't happy with Michael Egnew's development, another tight end might be a good idea. They did mention about using some 3-TE sets. -
I would take him he played decent last year
-
From a talent standpoint at this point in time, he would be an upgrade to our TE contingent. He was thrown at 114 times last season, had 75 catches, 7th most among TEs, for a 65.8 catch pct and 10.3 yds per catch. 840 snaps, 17th among TEs.
In 2010, he was rated the #2 receiving TE by PFF. Thrown at 88 times with 66 catches, 7th among TEs. He averaged 11.1 per catch. He played 739 snaps, 20th among TEs.
He has been durable the past 3 seasons.
Those aren't exciting numbers perhaps, and he is not a good run blocker, but it would still upgrade our TE depth in the short term.Ohio Fanatic, Boik14 and jsizzle like this. -

Apparently Winslow isn't a fit for either the hard-nosed Greg Schiano or the freewheeling Pete Carroll. The reality is, Winslow simply has nothing left in his injury-ravaged legs, and showed very little in the preseason, making three catches for 34 yards. Winslow's experience should help land him another job, but his creaky knees have the clock ticking on his career. Sep 1 - 5:43 PM

If healthy he would be a nice addition. -
There is a big reason for his release.
We don't need any of that over here. -
I actually think he gets a bad rep, he produces and hasn't missed a game since 2008. He had some issues when younger but it sounds like he has matured.
But either way it sounds like after his career he is going to go through hell with those knees. -
I don't know if he's matured, but I'm a little bit doubtful that he was released because of his health. He didn't get injury-waived or any type of settlement and he hasn't missed time recently.
Here's Winslow on Greg Schiano:

Schiano is going to get alot of that in this league, these ain't college players.
-
Not the distraction that everyone makes him out to be. I'd love to bring him aboard for a season but I see Winslow being a better fit on a team that is actually contending this year. Baltimore, Tennessee, New York Jets, or Chicago Bears are teams I could see him catching on with.
