Do you agree ? He certainly is not the physical kind of WR
Running out of bounds when he doesnt have to wont endear him to this regime.
If Parcells thinks the same way then maybe we will see a trade for Boldin .

He hasn't been elite up to this point, but he's still growing as a player and Steve Smith is a good example of a WR that took a little while before he reached his full potential. Personally I think Ginn is going to be a better version of Chris Chambers, a #1 WR on our team, but not an elite #1.
-
This myth going around that Ginn is afraid of contact is stupid. He's not afraid of contact. He's not the most physical receiver, but he's not a deer. Keyshawn is just stupid.

Hey Keyshawn make a note to self. You were never ELITE either.
I dont agree with this at all. Ginn showed improvement from one year to the next and his body is just not built to go around taking on Lb'ers and big hitting safeties. He may never end up elite. He may never live up to where he was drafted but he's contributing more and more and he is a threat to go all the way every time he touches the ball.
Would I take Boldin over him? Ummm thats a no brainer.

Most receivers don't do well when asked to block a linebacker. Not sure where he's going with that one.
-
Keyshawn Johnson just went from bad to worse in my book. Who does he think he is to make comments like those? Is he even qualified to evaluate other players? I thought the only thing he cared about was himself. He needs to keep his mouth shut.
-
Well Gish don't you know what made Jerry Rice great was his ability to block linebackers. Duh. Keyshawn is god and knows all.

You guys are taking this way to personally. I love Teddy and think he will improve next year, but Keyshawn made the correct assessment of him. Ted Ginn is not an elite receiver. The jury is still out on that. I hope he develops in to one, but if he winds up being a serviceable receiver I'll be happy, as long as he continues to hold on to the ball.
A lot of people thought Chris Chambers was an elite WR so I think there might be some bias towards our own players:tongue2:Drowning, Georgia Fin and fins4o8 like this. -
I'm not a big fan of Keyshawn, but he makes some good points. Ginn is not a physical WR, Parcells likes physical WR but as also had Ginn type guys (see Terry Glenn).
I think we are more likely to see The Fins draft a guy like Britt than give up draft picks for Boldin.fins4o8 and steveincolorado like this. -

also; ginn doesn't like to get hit.
who does? certainly not boldin after that mean one last year. -

I'm not saying Ginn is or is not afraid of contact, I don't know. But Keyshawn is a Parcells guy, Keyshawn did spend time in our camp, Keyshawn does talk to Parcells. That's more than we can say.
So I listen to what he says with an open mind, I just won't disregard what he is saying just because he is Keyshawn.
And Ginn has shied from contact since being here, but I have no reason to say he is afraid, just as I have no reason to say he is not.FinSane likes this. -

They say it takes 3 yrs for a WR to reach his potential and there are plenty of examples to demonstrate that .
This is Ginns third year and he should be coming into his own this year.He has good hands and his routes have been getting better .
And he is a hard worker. You will remember Sparanos defense of him just after the season.
I am not sure he can be a No 1 WR but I certainly dont think he is a bustThe Aqua Crush and like2god like this. -

While I agree that Ted Ginn isn't elite (yet), that "Ted Ginn is afraid of contact" crap is really old and untrue.
Sceeto and PENNSYLVANIADOLPHAN like this. -
Look at it how you want, but it's Sparano coaching the players and Ireland finding the players. Parcells just oversees it all, that's basically it.
And I don't see why people want Ginn to take on all contact, I prefer him to go down rather than take a big hit. I don't think he really shies away from contact, look at the reverse in Oakland, he broke a few tackles there. I think he shies away from getting lit up and that's the right thing to do. At the beginning of the year he made the mistake of running out of bounds at times, well through time he learned as he has only done that a few times.
People aren't disregarding what Keyshawn is saying because he's Keyshawn no matter what you think. If someone else said this, the same people would be arguing against that very statement.BrazForPhins and Silverphin like this. -
Really... as much as I hate to say it, i agree with this in some ways. Ginn will never be elite. No doubts about that at this point i think. However, ginn showed improvements this year in his production, and I think we will continue to see that growth again and hopefully another increase in production from him. He's definately not a physical receiver, I do feel like he tries to avoid contact, however thats just not who he is. Nothing can be done about that, lets face it, his body is not meant to take poundings from linebackers and safeties over the middle. With a strong #1 guy here, Ginn can be a great #2 guy with the supporting cast.. unfortunately at this point in time its just not there.

I just overheard Ted Ginn, Jr., he said, "Meshawn Johnson, not a Hall of Famer."
Meshawn has that cocky smirk on his face all the time because he knows he sucks. -
The 2008 Ginn was better than the 2007 Ginn
If the 2009 Ginn were better than the 2008 Ginn then we've got our #1 receiver.
Maybe not elite, but if he keeps developing he'd be a very good WR, he's not that far from that, though he needs to improve to get there. Better than Keyshwan btw.phinfanuk likes this. -
Johnson's right on the money.
Although he would've had a chance to be an elite WR if he had this man throwing to him:
But since he doesnt, then we'll have to settle for improvement because Ginn at this point is the type of WR that blazes down field and we dont have a starting QB (with all due respect to Pennington) that can hit him in stride like Marino could. -
How do you guys no he is not going to be an elite receiver?
-
-
I've yet to see anyone disagree that Ginn is not elite. Actually it's stating the obvious on that. It's where he says he is scared to take hits like Ginn is some 240 pound Wr in a TE's body. He is a slim player and he better be looking NOT to get hit or he'll never get the chance to show he can be elite.
Ginn has a long way to go but he's improved on almost every aspect of his game. Some people put the bust label on him because of where he was picked. Well to me thats water under the bridge. We can't take that back but he is well on his way to being GOOD imoGISH likes this. -
When the Dolphins traded away a seventh-round pick to the Jacksonville Jaguars for defensive lineman Tony McDaniel, a trade general manager Jeff Ireland wanted to make, football czar Bill Parcells made Ireland promise he'd get that pick back somehow.
Draft picks are that valuable to the Dolphins, even seventh-rounders. -
The jury is still out. Labeling a receiver before he has a third year under his belt is premature, IMO.
PENNSYLVANIADOLPHAN likes this. -
Ginn is not an elite WR but he still could be eventially. He is still young and is developing his pro game and some receivers take longer than others to reach a higher or elite level.
He could be running out of bounds to keep from getting injured. He probably wouldn't last 16 games if he took a hard hit all of the time. He is just not that big physical type receiver and was never hyped as one coming out of college. -
DB's aren't afraid of Ginn? Really? I seem to remember it slightly differently...
