We have really done a very ****ty job with the amount of cap room we had this offseason. Do we have one good signing of a not past his prime starting caliber player that didnt get a horribly valued contract from a team perspective? We have signed a bunch of older players for a team that is not all that close to competing for a super bowl. Reminds me a lot of what we did in 2008 with Parcells, even though we obviously werent close to being as dismal. Lots of old, solid, but not spectacular veterans that might be able to give you a solid year or 2, but no foundational pieces that will give you a bright future for when you actually might have a chance to compete.
The 2 trades for Hayes and Thomas were good, but just about every re-signing was poor value, a bad player, or both. -

I am thinking this is the kind of money they offered zach brown, and when he turned it down they decided to lock up kiko instead.
Only problem is zach is actually a more talented LB than kiko.

However branch and alonso are now way overpaid.
Thomas trade was ok but there are some serious doubts there given his injury history and lack of recent production.
And probably my biggest gripe with the offseason is that we needed two quality starting Guards going in and we still need two quality starting guards coming out of free agency. I'm so sorry but ted larsen and Jermon Bushrod are not quality starting guards.

Wonder if losing Clay, Miller etc. affected the FO.
Tricky call - lock guys up early so you're not forced to pay huge amounts for them, or risk losing them if you act too late.
This contract for Kiko looks big now, but the way the cap has been rolling this might not look so bad in a couple of years time - assuming he doesn't get injured or fall off completely. Which is, of course, a possibility.Redwine4all and thetylernator like this.
