Doesn't this mean that Hickey is batting 1.000?

[SUP][/SUP]I'm very happy about this. Good blocker, great out of the backfield, tough.
Good signing! -

Nice!

yesway, i like it much.

Great signing. Hickey is really putting this roster together. Only a couple holes left to fill. Gives us a lot of flexibility to take the most talented players on the board in the draft and not just try to fill roster holes.
-
League average ability to convert on short yardage (league average = massive upgrade from Daniel Thomas), blocking ability, can catch some passes, will get about 4.0 yards per carry without making people miss or breaking many tackles...seems alright to me.
Wish we could've gotten that the way most teams do with like a 6th round pick or something, but...Jeff Ireland.
Should've signed Donald Brown but that's just a personal opinion.Xeticus, Da 'Fins, Phoenician Fan and 1 other person like this. -
Brown is not a better back than Moreno, I don't why you would prefer him CK. I also think Moreno has great intangibles that can't be measured by a PFF or whatever system people like to rate players by.
-
I still see us drafting a RB in May, but this is good insurance and he gives us much needed experience in the backfield. A RB stable of Moreno, Miller and a draftee could actually be a pretty decent backfield. Thomas, I think, is gone.

I think Albert is the best free agent signing so far, but the signing of Moreno is Hickeys second best signing IMO. He is an outstanding blocking back and he is a better Running back than any of the backs now on their roster. This will now allow Miller to be used as the change of pace RB he should have been all along.

Great step in the right direction. Glad it is for only 1 year. Hopefully this means no more DT.
-
Glad it's a one year deal because he doesn't impress me at all and it keeps him motivated to become a better player.. Not sure he beats out Lamar Miller in training camp. Just being honest, Lamar would be great behind Manning too, any running back is great behind Manning.

Did like him outta college..love the vid here..saw that last time 09 haha...

I've had Knowshon on my fantasy football team for the past 2 seasons, so I've seen a lot of him. In my not so educated assessment of him, he fights hard for yards. This play sticks out in my head:
The reason he got so much playing time despite Denver investing in RBs during the draft the past 2 seasons is Peyton Manning trusted him to pass block. Which is great.
The thing that concerns me is I wonder if he'll be anywhere near as effective with defenses not giving him "Peyton Manning" room to run.
All things considered he can only improve what was a terrible running game last year. Good get.Phins_Fan_87, jakezog3rd, DPlus47 and 2 others like this. -
YES MARINO IS BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh that Mareno.... :) Good signing as we needed help back there.. I expect alot more screens this year as well and good hands will be crucial... Now we need to finsih fixing up the line... Trade someone!!!jakezog3rd likes this. -
I'm good with the signing, young vet, downhill, smart, passionate, character, can catch and block, admittedly it seems as though his production went up when manning came aboard, so I'm a little worried about his lack of speed, but I feel like he improves the position from an Overall perspective..
Miller is still very young, keep developing your strength and nature kid, bust your *** to get better, you don't have to be smart to be the hardest most Intense.Xeticus likes this. -
Glad to see that this got done. Leaves us more opportunity for BPA in the draft while still putting the focus on building the right side of our line.
Knowshon is going to be the compliment to Miller that DT never could amount to. Plain and simple we needs a heady runner inside the tackles. Moreno can provide that. We needed someone who has proven success at pass blocking... Moreno can do that. We also needed a back who can handle 3rd down duties and catching balls out of the backfield...Moreno can do that (Miller is a decent pass catcher as well).
I envision this RB combination what Philly did last year with McCoy/Brown. While that tandem was like 80/20 for McCoy, I see us truly around the 60/40 mark with our guys. Funny how last offseason we were praising Miller for a breakout but this could be the year it comes to fruition.
Still, guys it is a one-year deal which is smart cause who knows Peyton Manning has made many backs look elite (Joe Addai) in the past and Moreno could be a product of the system. Personally, I think Manning taught him traits to be a successful pro and put the work in that he could carry on.
Pre-Moreno signing needs:
RT, G, RB, ILB, WR/TE, CB
Post-Moreno signing needs:
RT, G, ILB, WR/TE, CB, RB
I'd still invest in a rookie in this draft as we can all see DT being cut. Gillislee didn't show enough last year to expect anything but I'd still let him compete. Really hoping we can add a WR/RB who has return ability so Thigpen can be gone.
Keep an eye out for mid-late round backs: Terrance West; Storm Johnson; Jerick McKinnon; Isiah Crowell -
I'd have hoped for a two year deal, and I imagine thats what the team wanted, but if he wouldn't agree to that, then this is cool. HUGE upgrade on passing downs from the guys we had, and I would guess that Thomas is gone. Nice if we could deal him for a 7th rounder, but I doubt it. Maybe a throw in for another trade?
