what's happened to Korey Sheets?
http://www.miamiherald.com/2010/08/05/1761048/miami-dolphins-rb-kory-sheets.html
last thing I heard was in August 2010:
The Dolphins released Sheets on Wednesday night. ``Tore my Achilles,'' Sheets posted on Twitter. ``Don't worry -- I'm OK. This is just a bump in the road. I'll be back faster and better than ever.''
He was waived on August 4, 2010, due to his injury during a training camp practice. Now what?
the guy looks good on paper & has had an outstanding HS & College career
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kory_Sheets
intelligent young player (25) & a team leader
4.37 _ 40
5'11 & 206 lbs
possible third down back, excellent hands for receiving out of the back field,
was the fastest Dolphin on the entire roster & is a return specialist, punts & kicks
supposedly, we are in the process of rebuilding our offense & need to find a return specialist
an Achilles' tendon tear is normally a 4 to 12 month repair & recovery program,
which could bring him back for 2011 training camps if healthy & available contractually.
anyone know what his status is medically & with the front office?
will he get a second look by Miami or is damaged goods & gone?
seems to me, with our sudden emphasis on speed, he'd be part of the solution.
anyone know what's going on?

if a tree falls in the forest but nobody hears it, does it make a sound?
That question is more important than whoever this Corey Sheets fellow is. -

@ 2:30am corey is korey. good night ladies
Kory.
He says he’s fully recovered from his Achilles injury, and recently posted on his Twitter account a video of him running the width of the practice field in the NSMB. Twice. In 13 seconds.

LOL @ the first 2 idiots in this threat. (idiot being a term of endearment)
Great........ so what you're saying is he's fast as s#!t but incapable of gaining a positive yard?

look at 23rd bringing the funnies. Did someone switch your oxygen tank with nitrous last night?
Should forget this kid and go draft Kendall Hunter out of Oklahoma State.
Did follow him on Twitter but after 3,000,000 posts about anything but football had to unfollow him.
Heard he was a FA though but do think if he is healthy he can give the Return game a spark, it would help him if he could handle punts as well.
would prefer to bring him back & find out, rather than gamble another draft pick
All This Time I Thought We Still Had Him and he was Just On IR :O lol
Why Not Bring Him Back

Well he was waived, passed through waivers and placed on injured reserve.
My impression was that, that meant he was still under team control; hence my keeping him in my mock.
If he's not still under control or he didn't retain his speed/health post-injury, we could always give Michael Spurlock or Courtney Roby a look.

just read the same thing souring the internet for info.
waived, placed on injured reserved. don't understand.
knew you could be waived or placed on injured reserve
but not both in that order, be it as it may...
apparently, we still have access to him if he's healthy
Friend ToddPhins:
1) just making lemonade out of lemons. the post was a positive response to a rather sour joke.
2) a man is what the does & is as old as he feels. some of the greatest productivity lies inconspicuously somewhere in the later years for many men. never a good thing to underestimate or prejudge the human condition. health trumps the age card & intellect is not the exclusive domain of youth. hubris to even consider the idea.
3) the connotation of the oxygen tank is frailty, old age, ill-health, diminishing mental prowess, all very negative. use your years wisely, be productive & enjoy all of them. the only alternative to going forward is the end. its a conundrum no one escapes.
I know you meant it to be funny & it was about as funny as it was thoughtless.
however, no harm done. as always, it is what it is: contrary 36/63... like looking in the mirror. go figure.
you'll find, if things go well for you,
the one real negative of growing older
is you can't claim "youthful indiscretions" as an excuse
you can, however, become incapable, weak or stupid @ any age.

Ted Ginn was great on returns and would've been worth keeping for that reason alone.

Does anyone really know what 23rd is trying to say ?? I love that he posts here and he has the right to post whatever he wants, but sometimes, I just don't get what he's tryin' to say ??? Guess it's me...

I saw a tweet about a week ago that pretty much said he will be back this year if there is football in a Dolphins uniform per himself.

the post was simply an over-reaction. I apologize to the forum & Friend ToddPhins.
I hope Friend Miamiron is right:
GinnJr. wasn't great at anything in the NFL, except running to the sidelines.
the comparison is unfair because Sheets hasn't had a chance to prove himself
now that it appears that Kory will be back, the only real negative remaining
is a torn Achilles has about a 70% chance of becoming a recurring injury
of course, that will vary from person to person & who does the cutting.
it appears that the culprit lies in scar tissue & quick returns w/o proper rehab
I'm inclined to believe he had the best surgeons available & a year is an adequate time to rehab (4-12months)

Anyways I do like your points in this thread.
It would be wonderful to see Sheets come back from the injury and light it up.
I cringe each time when Carroll returns kickoffs. He just sets himself up to get blown up every time. That boy is going to get hurt.

He'll knock you into next season, Sheets!
Fine, i'll add something real to this i guess.
Sheets has done absolutely nothing to deserve the hype that surrounds him. NOTHING. And the sad thing is, it's not just dolphins fans. 49ers fans really thought they had something in Sheets as well. And then he got cut.
And the crazy part? There were still some niners fans saying "The dolphins just got a steal" What a steal alright.
1 carry. 5 yards. thats his ENTIRE CAREER stat line. This is the same forum that trashes guys like Chad Henne for merely being ok yet on occasion guys like Kory Sheets get statues built in their honor. i know we can't all be cynical bastards who look at every player as if they'll never be anything in this league, but unfortunately being a cynical bastard about NFL players often means you're right most of the time. There are over 500 guys like Kory Sheets in the NFL/practice squad and only a small percentage of Impact players in the league.
He didn't make an impact before tearing his achillies, its ridiculous to have any hope he'll have an impact after. Regardless of the medical advancements that have been made over the years, tearing your achillies doesn't make you better.
Friend CitizenSnips
with all due respect:
he was't cut by the 49er's, he was moved to the practice squad where Miami scarfed him up within the hour
& he's never had a legitimate opportunity anywhere to impact anything in the NFL before his injury
you might be right as rain in your dire predictions of failure for the 25 year old
impact transitions from college to the NFL are few & difficult to predict
it's like flipping a coin, always a 50/50 proposition when the rubber meets the road. its always a gamble
having said that:
Sheets simply hasn't met the road yet & he has the speed & hands we lack in the backfield
& could be the legitimate return specialist we so desperately need to improve special teams
it would not behoove us to simply write him off as another GinnJr. bust
it would be imprudent to do so, we have a need for his talent & no proof of his NFL abilities
better to give him a second shot @ playing in 2011  then spend a pick in the draft trying to find someone else
you complained: 1 carry. 5 yards. thats his ENTIRE CAREER stat line.
what if the guy can average four or five yards a carry? how will we ever know?
