Phil Merling was a disappointment that has been replaced by someone better (Marques Douglas).
A.J. Edds was running second string in the nickel packages that he was supposedly drafted to play right away, and Crowder's having such a good camp there's not much reason to say it's anything but a tossup on whether or not Edds would have stolen that spot from him. Plus, the Dolphins seem committed to using their typical 3-Safety approach to nickel at least part of the time. What are we talking about, 100 to 200 snaps, IF he'd managed to unseat Crowder?
Kory Sheets? 5th string tailback. Nuff said.Clipse, HULKFish, GMJohnson and 1 other person like this. -

3 Roster slots now open, I have to wonder if Boom has any opinion on who Irish may bring into camp?
I'd think Irish will just search through players they visited or had them visit Davie, and now are without a team as it were. -
I wasn't stressing about Kory Sheets the RB, I was stressing a FAST possibility at KR.
Like it or not, we need a fast guy to replace Ginn back there. -
could pick up an Olympic sprinter & teach him how to catch
-
-
ETA: Would likely be tougher than Ted Ginn over the middle thoughmy 2 cents, ascii and alen1 like this. -
While losing Sheets isn't catastrophic........ it does suck that we lost him
The guy had a legitimate chance to pass both Cobbs and Hilliard to take the #3 spot, IMO anyway. Not to mention what he might offer at KR.adamprez2003 and finyank13 like this. -
Just wonderful, the injury bug is still hanging around Miami I guess since last season. Except pre-season hasn't even started yet.

-
 I really wanted to see him returning kicks.

I tend to agree with ck on this one. Edds is probably the one that might concern us the most since, all reports showed him being somewhat of a contributor this season. Merling's shine had long since gone dull and Jason Ferguson was out for half of the season before he decided to retire. Kory Sheets wasn't even guaranteed a roster spot.
It isn't like we are losing anyone on the front end of the roster. This is why you have depth, so in case someone gets hurt, you have other players to rely on. In this scenario, it just means that our starters may have to play a few extra snaps throughout the year, at the most.
Having said that, I don't like to see any of our players get hurt, especially in a way that could hinder them from future work (Sheets will probably lose his burner speed now). But the team will be fine. -
Renaldo Nehemiah broke the world record for the 110 meter hurdles and became the first person to ever run the race in less than 13 seconds.
During his three years as a wide receiver he caught 43 passes for 754 yards, a 17.5 average, and 4 touchdowns. Although he was part of the Super Bowl winning team in the 1984 season, he did not play a major role. His football career is deemed by some to be a failure.

It doesn't mean that we can't try it again though. Back then I thought it was a pretty cool idea. -
I was very disappointed when I heard this. I think this would have been his breakout year. What a waste of a talented player.
I bet they get sorrier every year that they waived Jalen Parmalee a few years ago. I always thought that was a bad move and looking back my gut feeling was right. Jalen would have made one hell of a KR but they waived him in favor of Ginn. (I think)
I guess everyone lives and learns, even football coaches.
