Joe Schobert, LB, Cleveland Browns
"This one is a bit of a cheat, because while the Browns haven't indicated anything officially, Cleveland.com reported in February that the team won't be re-signing the linebacker this offseason as it focuses on filling glaring needs on the offensive line. But if Cleveland doesn't want him, Schobert should have no trouble finding someone willing to pay him $10 million per season this offseason -- as a defender who can make plays in space and serve a leadership role, he'll be well worth that cost. In 2019, the 26-year-old registered a career-high nine passes defensed and four picks."
He is uber smart and a very solid player. He'd be our best LB since Zach Thomas. I'd like to sign him. Especially because he is only 26 years old.

I would be okay with it.... I have been mocking Baun to the Dolphins with the 26th pick... adding Schobert would really give us a solid linebacker group.\
There is plenty of money to spend and this is a position of need... I like Baker but McMillan is really not a playmaker... Solid depth and he can play a role...He is not an everydown player in my opinion. ( I Would love to be wrong, and see him play better this season )Irishman, DOLFANMIKE and KeyFin like this. -

My initial reaction was to say pass, we have a reasonable collection of LBs and have more urgent needs at other parts of the team (OL and DL in particular).
However, on reflection and reading the comments of others signing him would:
1 - (Potentially) Make our LB corps a strength of the team; and
2 - Not prevent us from upgrading other parts of the team because of our cap status and draft status.
My only concern would be to do a due diligence on why the Browns are letting him walk. That team has had a dysfunctional locker room for even longer than we have had. It is possible he could bring either a bad attitude or bad habits with him.Irishman likes this. -
Yeah at age 26, Pro Bowl level guy and only 10 million per season he'd be ideal. I can't imagine any situation better other than drafting a pro bowler

One of his biggest fans right here..lil predraft stuff.
He’s so gifted athletically, I’m not sure folks realize how precisely football coordinated this player is..absolutely like Coach said, would be the best linebacker since zach.Irishman likes this. -
JIm Leonard is a great football coach, I wouldn’t mind being the NFL pipeline for the Wisconsin badgers.
Sign Joe Schobert, take a hard look at Baun, we missed on TJ watt hard, who was an easy call over Harris, but this guy is a great coach and seemingly has a great eye for talent.Last edited: Mar 14, 2020DOLFANMIKE, texanphinatic and Irishman like this. -

Oh Yes!
We have greater needs than LB but you shouldn't let talent slip through your fingers if it's available and affordable, anywhere on the field. It's a no brainer for me.Surfs Up 99, DOLFANMIKE and Irishman like this. -
IMO his best fit is what Jamie Collins has traditionally been, someone who gets some snaps in there on the edge but many is the flex guy between a 4-2 and 3-3 Bear Nickel.
