I really dont think he will be. I think he gets another year for two reasons.
1. you dont want to fire your GM and keep your coach (because I doubt you fire Philbin after one year)
2. you should probably give him a chance to fill the roles the new scheme of Philbin requires, since Philbin is likely here next year.
Now whether I agree with that, is a completely different issue.oakelmpine and Rocky Raccoon like this. -

That's the problem.
He won't be fired.
He's gonna take all our extra picks and cap space and turn it into more steaming, stinking, gut-wrenching poop.Boik14 and oakelmpine like this. -
He won't get fired unless we somehow lose out and that won't happen were not that bad

Nice rant. An opinionated 9 word OP really brings up the quality of the forum.

I want to be wrong about Ireland. I want us to win a bunch of games.
-I want Tannehill to throw TDs
-I want Jonathan Martin to not get destroyed, game after game
-I want Vernon Olivier to make plays on DEFENSE.
-I want Michael Egnew to catch at least one pass in 2012!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-I want Lamar Miller to get more carries
I also want a pony!!Boik14, Dtronic, Section126 and 3 others like this. -

Well, this is basically the same team as last year, (minus the teams two most talented payers) ,that 7 and 9 team got the additions of a few rookies and rookie free agents..I'm not sure thats good enough.
There needed to be some better choices.. -

What makes you think he can fill those holes? Have you checked out the offensive line? Ireland has been drafting and signing offensive linemen in free agency for the last five years and this is still one of the worst offensive lines in the entire NFL.
Personally I would rather Ross let Philbin run the draft and he could select the players he feels best suits the team he is trying to build. To me, Ireland just gets in the way. He is a terrible judge of talent and the Dolphins present roster proves this.
If the Dolphins go 6-10 or worse this year and Ireland is retained as the teams GM. I believe the Dolphins will lose another eight to ten thousand season ticket holders next season. I just can't believe Ross is happy looking at all those empty seats each week. He is going to have to do something to bring fans back to the stadium and firing Ireland and hiring a new GM would at least give the fans some hope that a new man in charge of player personnel decisions, might get this team headed in the right direction.
Parcells leaving, and the firing of Sparano, certainly hasn't turned this team around. In fact they have a worse record over their first ten games this season, than they over their last 10 games in 2011. If it was not Parcells or Sparano who were the major problem, it must be Ireland. He has been the one constant in the Dolphins football operations over the last four losing seasons. It is time for him to go.oakelmpine likes this. -
I don't think he said he thinks Ireland can fix things. He's just saying Ireland will be given the chance to fix things. -
If Ireland is fired and we improve at GM then this season will have been worth it.

I'm with brandon here 100%. I really don't think Ireland will be fired. We have an entirely new coaching staff and they're going to want to show some continuity and give these guys a chance to get this thing together. I would say for sure Ireland will be fired after 2013 if we don't have a winning season but he'll be around until then.
