thiss preseason i mean

And passes over 40 yds, which was a huge weakness for him in 2010, he is top 5 in a couple of categories.
I think it is fair to say that he did spend time working on his flaws and it paid off, even his playaction fakes look better. -
This might mean nothing at all, since it is the preseason, or it might be an indication that Dan Henning really was that bad.
Like 'straight from the depths of hell' bad.k-bayfinfan, Aquafin, HULKFish and 5 others like this. -
It seems that the light has finally gone on for Henne a little bit. We'll see if he can carry that over into the regular season.

Have to say, as bad as Cleveland was, I was actually somewhat excited to get him. He is definitely a high energy guy, and while Cleveland's offense was statistically terrible, Daboll helped fashion a rookie in McCoy into a decent QB, and got Hillis rolling from nowhere.
I just hope Henne can be consistent once the games start counting. -
Henning was like poison to our young QB and David Lee never did anything to help Henne with his feet.
I knew a brand new attack style offense would help Chad. That is why I never gave up on his development.Pandarilla likes this. -
I'm starting to be less worried about Chad Henne and more worried about our offensive line...

Look who's second and third, with only one interception each. heh Funny how top three are those three guys. I'm optimistic about Daboll and Henne, but let's not get too carried away before we play any games that count. Oh, and disregard my signature for this post.

No Tom Brady or Mark Sanchez on that list. Henne the only QB with 2 40+ yard passing plays and tied with Joe Flacco for 1st with 7 20+ yard passing plays......nice!
Now let's hope it translates to the regular season. With the return of Long our o-line will be much better. I love Pounceys attitude out there as well. Carey better get fired up or he will be out the door. -

I know it's only preseason, but Henne looks so different behind center. He looks in control..he's not afraid to change up the play and he looks very confident. Hopefully it translates to regular season.ToddsPhins likes this. -
I just got frustrated last year with all the people who just completely ignored the impact of the system. I understand that fans are lazy and tend to look for the simple answer (which contrary to popular belief is often wrong) so they just pointed and said, "the QB sucks", but it got to the point where I avoided many threads b/c I couldn't stomach the ignorance.djphinfan, ToddsPhins and JMHPhin like this. -
I was also a Henning hater all last year. God, I could not stand to watch that man call plays or watch his terribly simple offensive philosophy. I was excited about the Daboll hiring after I seen that he wanted to take us into more of a spread attack. I can't believe how overlooked that was to our fans this offseason.
Henne finally got just what he needed. He got an OC that is giving him his chance to show he can or can't do it. Henning put Henne on a tight leash without ever giving him a chance to succeed or fail. Love what this whole team has shown so far, love what Henne has shown so far and if the guy continues to grow this season at the rate he really has this last offseason there is a lot of people who are going to feel foolish for trying to push this guy out the door.ToddsPhins likes this. -
A cautionary tale:

I have to give props though to one person who didn't like Henne and decided he wanted to go back and watch and find out why. He came back understanding the burden of failure was on our veteran OC not the young QB.

I am a henne fan and for the most part have always been... but keep in mind guys that the last two games were against the panthers who dont have that great of a secondary and the bucs who with aqib talib arent that good eithe andddd were in pre season, so dont get too hyped up on his STATS. BUT i do really like what ive seen from henne with decision making, accuracy, aggressiveness, playing against the blitz and not forcing the ball. if you look at the highlight reel post of the bucs game, at about 2:41 henne eyes down marshall the entire play but rather than forcing it in there and ending with a pick like he probably would have done last year, he kept his composure, looked over and hit gates for the first down, good stuff
-
I will say anyone with eyes can see that Henne is developing into the QB we need him to be.
Of course everyone is a Henne supporter this week..... the naysayers are hiding waiting to pounce when things go south.
One thing I'll say about Henne is he has endured the storm from the fans, the media and his own team. He has been a real man about it and turned the criticism into positives.
The haters wanted him to fold so they could say they were right but so far it hasn't happened.
Love it!smahtaz, aesop and ToddsPhins like this. -

IMO all too often people are afraid to stand up for their beliefs against the masses for fear of persecution, or too often people conform to the masses b/c they don't trust their own opinion and would rather follow popular belief than risk ridicule.Killerphins likes this. -

Difference will be, late in the 4th qtr when yds are tougher to come by is where Henne stands or falls down, a Qb cannot help but put up large numbers in that style of offense, the problem is, and I saw it with the run and shoot, when it gets late in the game, passing does not pick up tough yds as so much can go wrong. -
It is not difficult to lead the league in passing during the preseason if you are playing with the first team receivers far more than other starting QB's are playing. Sparano has kept his starters in the games much more this preseason than the other teams in the NFL have. With a new offensive coordinator and no off season work, the Dolphins have used the preseason to give the starters more playing time. The more experienced teams with the same offensive coordinators have only used their starting QB's for a limited time in each game. Also defenses are not game planning during preseason. So the fact that Henne is leading the league in passing yards during games which count for absolutely nothing, is totally irrelevant.

If the system is important as people like RAf suggest, then it stands to reason that an even better QB will be exponentially better in such a system. Unless Henne turns into Brees 2006 and puts up a 104 rating and 30 TD's, I'm probably still shopping at the end of the season -
