Somebody's been workin hard to stop looking like Webster with a football in his hand.
Gotta admire his dedication and willingness to work hard, overcome obstacles. I've always admired that about him.
Now if he could just be able to hit the broad side of a barn, or get the ball to the sidelines without it dying in the air...
Originally my hatred of the pick revolved around:
A) I don't think he has the right build for the Wildcat,
B) He's such a project as a real passer it would take years to polish him up,
C) The "successful" branch of his end game probably caps out as a valid backup QB.
So with that in mind I make fun of him constantly. But it would at least be a nice surprise for him to prove postulate A incorrect.

I tried hard to get on board with the pick, saw him as the next evolution of the WildCat, but then I saw him play and lost all real belief in the young man.
His heart and attitude have never been in doubt to me, especially after he was the only Dolphin player to go out of his way to shake hands with all the military men & women dressed in uniform that day after the game in New England.
I would sure love to see him turn into something for us and make that not a wasted pick. He still has much to show the world, and until I see it ON THE FIELD IN A GAME, I am not a believer.DolfanJake, Bpk, Frumundah Finnatic and 3 others like this. -
please don't let it be steroids. keep that where it belongs... in baseball.

Also find it interesting that Pennington is talking to Henne while David Lee (i think that's him) is talking to Thigpen and White. Who is coaching whom? Sure it's just a picture, but lets not underestimate how important CP could be to this team this year from a sideline/coaching perspectiveBpk, dolphindebby and dolfan7171 like this. -
That's not actually all that abnormal. The starter and his primary backup are usually kind of tight. They both prepare like starters, and they both try and see the same thing as one another because they want there to be no interruption if the backup ever needs to get in there. I dunno, I just always have seen the starter and primary backup be like a duo, and the other guys are just trying to learn and develop.

Gotta say that's impressive for one off season. I hope it reflects well in his play.

You look at him up and down, from shoulders to arms to calves, it's a pretty big change.

Must have patience with this kind of player, especially considering the offense we are trying to evolve...The knee jerkers on this particular player were out of control, I swear some just wanted to call him a bust just because he doesn't have the skillset of a proset qb {which most of us projected in the first place, but yet were still excited} all while having complete disregard to what it is were trying to achieve here..

Photoshopped, I bet. Players developing is just a myth.

Thickness through the Neck and shoulders is impressive...Arms generally develop quickly and fairly easily but neck and shoulders shows hes doing some HEAVY lifting...good to see will probably help protect him from those kill shots like the one from last year that looked like it ACTUALLY killed him.

He's got such a small window to capitalize on. I hope they give him a lot of pass plays in preseason. Whether or not they put him in the Patpackage in preseason is debatable.

You know, I never actually compiled the data on the WildPat until now.
The Good News
The WildPat actually produced three touchdowns and a two-point conversion, without turning the ball over once in 52 tries.
The Bad News
The WildPat produced a paltry 2.88 yards per play. That's abysmal. Ronnie Brown was most productive with 5.0 yards per carry. Pat White got about 3.09 yards per carry, but if you count his incompletions, he averaged 2.54 yards per play when his number was called. Ricky Williams did no better at 2.53 yards per carry.Steve-Mo, Bpk, Tone_E and 1 other person like this. -
All I want is for the dude to help the team. If he can't, get him out.

For now, but if you think when Chad Pennington is healthy, that if Henne were to go down injured for a couple of games, Pennington would not be the man that takes over, I got some real estate to sell you.

But,are they "pop-corn" muscles?

Honestly I think if you have to rely on Pennington at anytime during the season that is a huge step backwards.mullingan likes this. -
Pat white eventually will have to Learn Ronnie Brown's role if we have longterm plans for this offense, and he wants a career...I know you don't think he has the build to run inside, but "lookit dem muscles".
The skillset combined with the imagination of this offense is why I want to be patient. -
But, I think that the Dolphins could really use his experience and intelligence helping their still young quarterbacks.Bpk likes this. -

I think if nothing else, White should have more athletic explosion ability this year with the added strength and size to his lower body.
The other thing I noticed, he is the only "Qb" to look like he hits the weight pile. -
THAT is how I can tell how much larger his calves have grown, they look about 15% larger, and calves play a huge role in generating athletic explosion, along with Quads. -
most rookies get a few years...(all rookies) most normal rookies need to learn and develop. i wanna give pat white a chance. hes a great person. a winner in college. and really fast with the ball in his hand.
i want him to get the opportunity to let the game slow down for him. so FOR NOW iam a big pat white fan still -
hey, good for him. At least he's been working hard. Hopefully we can use him productively at times this year
-
when a piece of crap like phillip merling is coming into camps fat, hitting pregnant girlfriends and under performing on the field.....i think guys like pat white who work hard and keep doing the right things....deserve a chance as much as anyone!

Chad Pennington in the mind of Chad Henne, all training camp long, another one, but this time, being trained for the starter role..What a gift..
The circumstances that Henne finds himself in since he got in the league has been perfect, I can't think of a young QB being groomed in a better situation.. combined with that right arm, shooot...This guy is gonna break out. -
I wasn’t a fan of taking White with a 2nd round pick with so many holes to fill, but have no doubt he will be the #2 QB on the depth chart before this season starts.

Henne has some baby guns working, nice biceps, but White is shredded, look at his Deltoids, dude is ripped and thick, Henne looks more like Jim Kelly...
Check out white from 09:

Thanks for calculating that. I'd imagine those number would look a lot better if Pat had hit Ginn deep on his first pass. Big plays like are what was missing from making the package effective last year in my opinion. Without those big plays the other team is able to stack the box, keeping the YPC down. Hopefully White improves as a passer and a runner, and that formation can become what it was intended. This is a good step.Bpk likes this.
