People call Sparano a "*****," or "weak" for not quitting? Are you kidding me? I was excited about change, but I commend Sparano for standing in there with a team he believes in. Quitting is the easy thing to do, but standing in there after this debacle and staying on as head coach shows strength not weakness.
This is how you gain respect, not lose it. When this team takes the field next season, the players will know Tony stood in there to coach them, while the owner may have lost faith, and the GM may have lost faith, Tony didn't quit, he didn't run, he stayed dedicated to do the job he was hired to do.
It's a sad day when we disrespect a person for not quitting. I hope Tony can use this as motivation, and I am rooting for him to succeed.
Some of you will diss this thread, and this post, but I won't quit on the team I have rooted for since 1983. It may not be the best time to be a fan, but being a loyal fan is sticking in through the worst of times.

You guys are loyal to a fault, I'll give you that. I have enjoyed all of your posts and don't wish to slight anyone, but for your own emotional well being please rethink this foolish martyrdom you're putting on yourselves. This was Ross' big moment and he mind-f$%ked everyone.

No, I don't think you get it.
I root for the Miami Dolphins, which is bigger than any individual on the team. The Miami Dolphins have been around long before Ross became owner, and I am sure they will be around long after he is owner as well.
You say "foolish martyrdom"? SO being loyal to a franchise is foolish? I am also a Red Sox fan, so should I have quit on them for the first 28 years of my life that they failed to win a championship and constantly failed in aspect after aspect as a franchise?
I am a Providence College Basketball fan, who has witnessed them fall apart the last 10 seasons, so I should walk away because they are perennial bottom 5 in the Big East?

I wasn't raised to quit, and I would never promote quitting. Am I pissed that things are bad, hell yes I am, but as a fan all I know is standing by my team - because again, the team is bigger than any individual, or any failure it may face.
And don't throw any psychological crap at me brother, I teach rhetoric at the college level, I understand my choice to stand by this team, even though I see the mounting mistakes this regime is making. -

I actually think we're a better team next year for not changing coaches. This may be the most stability the phins have had for awhile between players and a head coach and gm.

In all seriousness, I am mad as hell today and I want to diss this team, but don't mistake that out of disloyality. I have followed this team for 40 years almost. I am mad and I am discontent, but I will be watching this team next season. But make no mistakes, I will not watch with high expectations. Were the same people happy that WH went out and did not come home until he had Nick Satan sitting next to him? If so why? Hopefully it's not because he went out and got his man because we all know how that turned out.
I'm not happy losing Harbough but if the reason they moved on was because they saw doubt in Harbaugh that he actually wanted to be the coach of the Dolphins, I commend the man for moving on...calphin, Pariah and Rocky Raccoon like this. -

I'm a fan of that logo....I've watched players, coaches and owners come and go since before Shula and I'll still be a fan when Sparano's incompetent *** is finally fired. Which should be sometime around mid season....

And although I disagree, and I am rooting for him to succeed and don't blame him as much as others do, we both are loyal to the team. People can disagree with moves, want players, coaches, and gms fired, be pissed off, etc...etc...but you won't turn your back on the team, and that is being loyal, that is my point.
Those who are changing their avys to rival teams, and talking about not rooting for the phins, those are the people I am talking about. -

Ok, so some can judge those that are discussing how they are staying loyal regardless of how pissed they are - but others can't judge those who say they are "giving up" or "turning their backs" because they are pissed?
