lIf LSU DT Glenn Dorsey works out at his school's Pro Day, he reportedly could shoot to the top of the Rams' draft board.
Wednesday is a big day for the 6'2/300-pound senior. "I'm not even sure how much Dorsey is going to do in his workout because of his injury rumors," Rams coach Scott Linehan said. "We really like him a lot. We've got to make sure on a lot of stuff on him. I think you've got to see him work out."

IF he shows up healthy, I dont know how he COULDNT still be in the running for the #1 overall..
EDIT: Everytime I see your posts Adam, I think you are BAXTER  -

I think wwe are pretty locked on take a Chris Long or Jake Long. But I would not mind use pick Glenn Dorsey pick either of the three would be a good pick
-
St. Louis Post-Dispatch beat writer Jim Thomas believes the Rams like Virginia DE Chris Long better than anyone else in the draft.
VP of personnel Billy Devaney noted that Long is a better run defender than Vernon Gholston and is more than just a "try hard" player. Devaney added he thinks it'd be "scary" to use the No. 2 overall pick on a defensive tackle.

I'm still holding out for Dorsey, though I would not complain if we landed Chris Long.

I can understand why a lot of you want Miami to take Glenn Dorsey. I believe he's one of the two true #1 type picks in this draft.
However, you cannot justify drafting him and miscasting him in a 3-4 defense. At 6'1", 297 lbs, he is neither a nose tackle nor a defensive end in the 3-4 formation. To put him in a two gap, 3-4 scheme, you would be going directly away from his best attributes. Glenn Dorsey is a guy who can control a gap and penetrate into the backfield. He's an explosive player. He's not a guy you put in a scheme that has him stacking and shedding at the line, controlling two gaps as opposed to penetrating one gap and getting into the backfield.Nomina #76 and GRT8 like this. -

I'd be happy with Dorsey or Chris Long at #1 or trading down. If anything else happens on draft day, I'll be extremely skeptical. I think Dorsey is probably the best player in this draft, but I have questions about how he would fit into our defense. That's a lot of money to invest in a guy who may not fit the 3-4. Picking the #1 overall, you better select a guy that you're 100% about.

KB21 --good to see you here. Does anyone think that st. lou would trade picks with us to get chris long? the money would be close...just and extra pick or so

"
First Ovrl Pick - 3000
Scd Ovrl Pick- 2600
Total Diff. - 400 points
400 Pts = 18th overall pick in SECOND round.
But they have the second pick so they would have to give us the following to make it equal value:
Swap First rounders
Round 3 pick - Value - 260
Round 4 pick - Value - 108
Round 5 pick - Value - 42
= 410 points
It would be a little over but I guess you gotta do what you gotta do.

I thought that was what they had to give but RUDEbyallMEANS told me that a third would be enough to swap picks. He said that "many teams don't necessarily use the trade value chart. It's very unrealistic for the Rams to give up their 1,3,5 and 5 to move up one spot."
Again credit goes to RUDEbyallMEANS of FH on the answer. -
Dorsey is my favorite and although CK thumps me with the payday realities, I still want him. I think he wrecks whatever gap you want to put him in and I'm not one bit worried about "where" to play him.

and here is a perfect example of a guy that is a little undersized, barely........and is dominant as a player as there is in college football dropping down the boards because of uncertainty.... Take away the injury and he is a solid top 3 pick, possible number one. WE all know what he can do, so this will all be about his "injury" I will be watching and listening closely.

.
If I am Miami, i watch this closely, but at 6'1" tall, knee questions and a bit small.....I would pass being to afraid of losing the salary and pick for years to come. So in you may be right KB(HA....KB?) Healthy, he is going number 1.alen1 likes this. -
I don't doubt that Glenn has the ability to stack and shed and play two gaps, but I believe that by putting him in that position, he will not be doing what he does best, and he will also not make the type of impact on the game that the #1 pick will demand. As a 3-4 defensive end or nose tackle, Glenn Dorsey will not be a major pass rusher. That will not be one of his responsibilities.
Conversely, by taking Chris Long with the 1st pick, the Dolphins will be taking the other guy that I believe is a #1 type of pick in this draft, and he fits the scheme. He's making a position change, but I do not believe it will take him long to get acclimated to the new position. It's a position that Al Groh said Chris would have played at Virginia if they had different circumstances with their personnel.
The thing I see with Chris Long is that it is obvious that he has the ability to stand up and play in space. Despite the fact that they played him as a 34 defensive end at Virginia, he was playing out of a two point stance and dropping into coverage a lot. Not only did Chris Long collect 79 tackles on the year with 14 sacks, 19 tackles for loss, and 23 quarterback hurries, he also knocked down 9 passes on the year. A lot of that is because he is such an instinctual player and understands when to get his hands up and bat down passes.
Chris Long also has the best hand usage of any defensive lineman I have watched play recently. This guy is a football player. -
Gosh I can't stand the 34. Most of what we'd call 34 teams run more 5-2 anyway, especially the Patriots.
-
Chris, two gap? What are you reading bro? Good job, and I cannot disagree with you at all. You are in the majority. The best pick for Miami is CHRIS LONG. I will spell it out in my analysis, but I have done a 180 on him. As long as they negotiate a 5 yr deal. I like McFadden, but no way they take him. He needs the right offense. Bad yr for qb's! I don't think Ryan will be a bust, he is a 50/50 for a real games, but not a 1.since myfilm study I have seern the light! I want CHRIS LONG, if picking lower than 5 , its another story

NFL | Dorsey to do full workout Wednesday

John Murphy, of Yahoo Sports, reports Louisiana State DT Glenn Dorsey will perform a full workout for scouts, coaches and general managers at the school's Pro Day Wednesday, March 25. -
Anybody got the pro day numbers?
Edit: NVM, the above post is wrong. Wed is March 26th not 25th. I only paid attention to the number. -
UPDATE
The New York Times suggests that teams' apparent "concern" over Glenn Dorsey's lower body injuries are false and attempts to get his stock to drop.
Dorsey never missed a game in four years at LSU, winning both the Outland and Nagurski awards. It's worth noting that the story about Dorsey's 2006 stress fracture being a lasting concern was broken by the Sports Xchange's Howard Balzer, a St. Louis native and former Rams beat-type reporter.

Glenn Dorsey measured 6'2/297 and ran the forty-yard dash in 5.14 seconds at LSU's Pro Day on Wednesday.
His arms measured nearly 35 inches, considerably longer than any other ex-Tiger. He benched 225 a respectable 27 times and performed his 20-yard shuttle in 4.95. Dorsey's vertical was 25.5" and his broad jump 8.40'. Nothing here is overly impressive, but the numbers shouldn't damage his stock.
