Give me a friggin break. NFL is like 80% 18-40 male group. So, it's 2011 and they pick Madonna?! Really?! the last few half time performances have been either entirely irrelevant, or HORRIBLE (black eye'd peas were SO BAD)

She'll be better than the Black Eyed Peas!
I don't see why they can't book Prince every year. There's no law against them booking Prince or Springsteen again. Those guys KILLED IT!Muck likes this. -
Not a Springsteen fan, but he was good. Prince was great, in the pouring rain no less. The Stones would be another good one to put out there again.
Not a fan of Madonna at the Super Bowl. Girly music and sure to be a bunch of smoke and mirrors.
Full Disclosure: I'm a guy that hates auto-tune. -
Heck, give me Justin T. and Janet for all future half-times, a little singing and a little skin go a long way till its 2nd half kickoff -
I don't remember what they were like at Super Bowl. They were excellent last time I saw them.
I guess I should preface with "if they'd let them play whatever they want".
Got no interest in hearing the most overplayed stuff. -
/Actually I couldn't give two ****s. Who watches the halftime show (unless Janet is making an appearance)? -
Gardenhead's rankings with commentary:
1. 2009 - Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band - Amazing performance. The horns in 10th Avenue Freeze Out! Born to Run! The crotch shot into the camera! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xCuPbUOhKlU
2. 2002 - U2 - I kinda hate U2, but I kinda love them too. Post-911 energy. It was close to perfect.
3. 2007 - Prince - Purple Rain, in the rain. And the guitar-as-phallus sihloutte was pretty cool. http://www.foxnews.com/images/260898/2_62_prince_silhouette1.jpg
4. 2008 - Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers - Tom Petty, the coolest dude in the room. So many anthemic hits!
5. 2005 - Paul McCartney - You can't argue with 60,000+ people singing "Hey Jude". "Live and Let Die" kinda rules with explosions and stuff. Plus he actually said "Thank You Superbowl" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ojkHjVnlnIg&feature=related
6. 2006 - The Rolling Stones - I love the Stones more than any other group that have played the Superbowl. But their 2006 performance was not very good.
7. 2004 - Janet Jackson, Justin Timberlake - I don't like either of these people
8. 2010 - The Who - I love the Who. It was embarrassing.
9. 2003 - Shania Twain, No Doubt, Sting - Sting was once in a band called the Police. They had some good songs and then he went from pretentious to the most pretentious guy ever when the band broke up.
10. 2011 - The Black Eyed Peas, Usher, and Slash - Black Eyed Peas are everything that is wrong with music these days. -
-
So we're back to listing the living dead as halftime performances huh.
-
I would like to see Metallica in the superbowl.
-
They should bring Janet Jackson back. Just as a big FU to the FCC for the whole Nipplegate overreaction. I can't believe that was in the courts for so long. Go to Europe...there's Nipples on TV all the time, no big deal.
-
Madonna in her 50s will look better than these guys in their 60s:
Mick Jagger & Keith Richards
Pete Townsend & Roger Daltrey
Paul McCartney
And Fergie and Tom Petty at any age! -
For the record, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers played great
-
^^this.
-
Foo Fighters or Chili Peppers would have been awesome.
Madonna? I generally don't put great stock in halftime performances, but I watch them. If it really is Madonna I will find something else to do for that time. -
We can only pray for no wardrobe malfuntion.
-
Foo Fighers are weak. Chili Peppers would be cool.
