Great news, there are guys out there who are better candidates than anybody we've talked to.

The goal is to hire the right man, rather than a right now man.

Seriously, they've made it pretty clear that the main priority is for the guy to be the best on the evaluation side..takes time to know who was responsible for what..anyone can be cool in the interview and have great prescense, but can you break down the film and see the position specific movement that makes you make the right call..different talent. -

Can we stop with the Senior Bowl stuff?
We do not need to hire anyone before then. Everyone being interviewed is going to attend the bowl in their current positions and any on our team already are going to attend as well.
This is just more stuff for the category of "sounds good when you say it fast", like the GM always hires his coach, or coaches give great speeches.MrClean, Aquafin, MikeHoncho and 3 others like this. -

My point is that people are acting like if we don't have a GM in place before the Bowl, then we've failed miserably, when its pretty irrelevant and its vitally more important that we find the right guy.FinSane, scotty_irnbru and sports24/7 like this. -

I'm sorry for getting snarky but come on guys lets use the God given gift of our brains before we post. I am sure Mr. Ross wants to be there in person, but sometimes his real business can not be put on hold. -

"He is not on his phone or doesn't step out to take breaks," said the team source who is intimately familiar with the interviews.
Why would a team source ever need to even say that? (Unless it's happened several times in the past, perhaps?). Just not a good sign.
Really amazed at the blind faith in Ross.
The bottom line is, Ross better not miss on this GM. If he does, it will be one too many failures. The GM he hires this time will be forever tied to Ross. In that respect if they want to take their time, great. But, if you are going to take your time - then Don't. Screw. It. Up!
I have little confidence in Ross' ability to not do that at this point.ASOT likes this. -

Here's the problem with this process, and I didn't even read Mando's article so this is just my opinion on the matter as someone who has both been hired and hired: When you interview a group of people and then move onto another group of people the message you're sending to the first group of candidates is that none of them were good enough. Especially when you send out a cute little message about "right now guy". What you've done is essentially label everyone who has already interviewed as the "right now" pile.
This is all well and good if the Dolphins aren't sold on any of the candidates they've already interviewed. But if they felt really good about any of the guys they have already interviewed and then go back to them to offer the job, they are going to feel like a fallback plan, whether it's true or not.
This whole process makes me really wonder if at least some of the guys Miami has already interviewed have told them "Thanks, but no thanks." based on what they discovered during the interview process. The "right guy vs. right now guy" reeks of a face saving message to the media.ASOT likes this. -

I'm not saying Ross infallible, or that he's been 100% right on the football side of things, but I'm fairly certain a self made billionaire knows how to run an employee search.fin13 likes this. -
The message he has sent is more like "We are doing more interviews to make sure we choose the correct man for the job. It may be one of the early candidates, but we are doing due diligence. "fin13 likes this. -
But see you just tied yourself to a statement that you will have to live by.
What if Ross hires a GM that the majority here like but you do not? or you absolutely love but the majority do not?
I think you have set yourself and Ross up for failure no matter what. Not exactly objective, or are you just parroting?MrClean likes this. -
You can interview 100 candidates. If you don't know what your looking for it doesn't matter.
I question whether Ross can actually identify the "best" candidate since I'm not even sure he knows what he wants.
Of course everyone is looking for a proven talent evaluator but I doubt Ross can figure out whether someone is actually good at it, particularly since the candidates' roles with other teams are nebulous and open to some interpretation.
The fact is, until 3 weeks ago, Ross seemingly thought Jeff Ireland was good at his job. It took two striaght losses and dissension in the structure to finally make him think otherwise. And he had Carl Petersen advising him prior to that as well.
I don't know why anyone should have any confidence in this crew to hire the best guy whether they interview 5 or 1002socks likes this. -
What a pathetic attempt at an article. Must be nice to get paid to write your own personal speculations, or views on the story. That's more of an opinion piece my Armando rather than actual factual reporting. No surprise really, I'm not sure that douche knows what factual reporting actually is.
What a joke. -
