i think in 2-3 years its Luck and everybody else a notch below, Roethlisberger will be up in age as well as Rivers, i think Manziel won´t make it in this league and he will be a non factor, as for tannehill he has a chance to become the 2nd best QB behind Luck imo

 

Flacco is still considerably ahead of Ryan, hopefully that gap is bridged some this season.

 

I'd rather play it this way. The qbs I don't see being better than tannehill as of now or in the not too distant future. Dalton, manziel, Hoyer, mariota, Winston, manual, geno, bortles, Alex smith, mettenberger, jake locker, mallet, Tom savage.

If cross off the older guys, IMO, it looks like this.

Luck >>>flacco>tannehill, dalton, Alex smith, maybe Derek Carr, >>>>other guys

My point being tannehill has room to move up, but it's important to remember how many other guys he's already above IMO.

 

Also, why would tannebaum not be all in on tannehill? Protect the mother****er and watch the numbers pile up.

With alll the coaches that were fired at Denver I wonder why Manning would want to come back.Its basically a regime change and it will be a few years before they challenge.

 

It's our conference after Brady Retires. The Colts are our stiffest competition for the future imo, but that is only because of 1 man. Remember they just gave away a 1st for basically nothing in trich. Vontae was a great move for them, but with the success they are having this year that's another late draft pick for them. We are in an incredible position for the future I believe. If we fail this year, Failbin will be fired which is something we may need. If we don't fail were in the playoffs and I'm not complaining one bit. With the 14th pick this year, we have a chance to add some serious talent in round 1 and 2 just like we did last year. I fully believe with another solid draft from Hickey, we will be one of the best young teams in the conference "talent wise" with a chance to dominate it as long as Tannehill keeps progressing. The Ravens and the North have some very good young teams too, the problem with the Ravens I believe is an aging Ngata, Suggs, Dumervil, Steve Smith, and RB. They're a little older than us and gonna have to rebuild more I believe, the other teams in the north either have huge questions at QB or an aging one.

Between Brady throwing motion and Belicheat always having a an effective if unspectacular running game. I can see Brady easily playing into his 40's.

Manning on the other had never met a pass play or coverage he didn't like. It wasn't until the Donkey went to offset line and emphasis the running game did Manning look like the Manning of old.

 

Brady said he wants to play until he's forty, IIRC, and with the way he's playing, he's going to get his wish. He's 37 right now, that means 3 more years.

I think by then, if no other Luck-type young QB's show up, Tannehill is going to be at least top 3 in the AFC. All of the good younger QB's seem to be in the NFC: Rodgers, Matt Ryan, Stafford, Wilson, Kaepernick, Foles, Bridgewater...

If you put Luck at the top, Tannehill's competition in the AFC in about 4 years is going to be: a 37-year-old Rivers, a 36-year-old Roethlisberger, Joe Flacco, Alex Smith, Andy Dalton, Derek Carr, Blake Bortles, Johnny Manziel, and a handful of young QB's.

With the way Tannehill has been improving every year, I think his chances of getting near the top of that list are pretty good.

When Brady retires Belichick will insert Jimmy Garoppolo as the starter, and continue the dynasty.
They won 11 games with Matt Cassell in 2008.

I'm more concerned with Belichicks retirement.

Or Brady is the goat. And your under rating his value just like all 32 teams did when he was drafted. Look everyone knows Bellicheat is a great coach. But take away the fat boy (Wilfork) and the golden boy (Brady) and that's a completely different team. People may not want to admit if for fear of being wrong, but if Tannehill develops properly, were a lot closer than I think most of us think.

 

Brady is one of the the G.O.A.Ts, and the greatest of this generation. (2000s+)
I don't want to take anything away from him. He has that killer instinct that just wins games in the clutch. They will likely lose that.

But with the week to week regular season, I don't see the Patriots taking too many steps backwards. It may be a heavier run team, but will likely still sit on top of the AFC East.

That next tier is Matt Ryan and Joe Flacco.

Tanny is probably in the tier below that, but is the most promising young QB in the AFC East.

 

The patriots win a lot of tight Games because of tom. The problem isn't that the patriots are good, it's that they're doninant. Without Tom they won't be. Idc if their good, we can be good, it's that dominant thing that's hard to beat.

Imagine actually having a shot at the division in week 17. Imagine the pats at 9-6 and us at 9-6. We've never had that opportunity because Tom pulls magic wins out of his *** like nobody else has done before. Just one errant throw or fumble here and there and the patriots would be human and beatable. It'll come. Idc how good jimmy is, he. won't. be. tom.

I was thinking about this the other day as well. I know it sounds ridiculous, but come 2018 the following will either be out of the league or ineffective, IMO:

Brees
Brady

The following QBs will be over 35 and on the decline especially with where their bodies are:

Roethlisberger
Rivers


That's 4 of the AFCs 6 best QBs.

Luck will be a thorn in our sides for the next decade+. That's a given. Flacco will always have the Ravens 'there'. But after that, it's the newcomers.

If Tannehill can just continue to develop or even level off at some point in 2016-2017, we're going to be a contender in the AFC.

It's a qb driven league. Literally, all you need us a good qb and you are on your way. Seeing tannehill progress is an okay consolation prize for this season. I saw qb play from him this year that usually results in a playoff appearance. The defense let him down all season imo.

 

I agree. And with the other aging QBs, I think we can target being legit AFC contenders in 2017, 2018

I see Peyton retiring this year or next, I see Brady having 5-7 years left, I see Big Ben with 4-7 years left, I see Flacco with 7-10 years left, I see Rivers with 3-6 years left.

RT17 hasn't even punched his ticket to enter with the likes of these names yet, he belongs with A.Smith/A.Dalton in terms of conversation, so I will let RT17 prove to me he is in the category with the passers above before I say he's gonna be one of the best in the AFC in the future. For all we know, he could have a terrible year next year and get benched (because RT17 isn't exactly PM18, TB12, BR7, JF5, PR17, where he's allowed to have a bad year and get away with it)

 

I would love to see what Urban Meyer could do with the Dolphins.

 

If Brady plays into his 40's, look for hitting the quarterback in the pocket to become a penalty. People who move around, like Wilson and Luck, will be fair game, but hitting a pocket QB while he's in the pocket will become illegal.

 

Three more years is the best case scenario for Brady and Rivers based upon wear and tear. You are probably correct with Flacco and Big Ben. There are only two ascending QBs in the AFC that I am confident will be playing 10 more years: Luck and Tannehill.

 

Pretty sad we are hoping other quarterbacks retire for our average qb can climb up the totem pole. Meanwhile Luck isnt waiting, hes challenging them.
