Pouncey: I think he is a coward (Wallace)
Im glad he said it. Tired of the "know it alls" saying its Philbin not able to handle strong personalties. Pouncey is as strong as they get and he sings praise of his coaches and organization.

I guess we can put this to bed on what the players actually thought about him 'walking out' on the team.
He had a lot of defenders around here. People Saying he was benched or didn't quit or whatever. There were posters saying the players respected Wallace. Maybe Gibson and some others did... but that bought them a trip out of town right along with him.
Unfortunately Pouncey has never known political correctness.... in this case it gives us the inside story. -
That was Markice who called him a coward...?
-
Pound for pound Wallace was one of the toughest guys on the team. Gotta disagree w the Pouncey's on this one.

Supporting Aaron Hernandez.
Abusing Martin.
Pouncey is a loser. -
Wow! and to think there are some posters in this forum who defend him no matter what. Gotta love it.

I mean was anyone really defending him? He's a diva WR. Some people just wanted to keep him anyways b/c the team is better with him than it is now, and we already paid the worst part of his contract. I don't really like Wallace, and haven't liked him since his first game where he *****ed about not getting the ball, but I still would rather have him and another big body WR in the draft than have what we have now. We better hope whoever we draft steps up, as does Cameron & Clay (if he comes back).
-
Apparently Mike Wallace should've solved his beef with Tannehill & Lazor with a loaded gun at an industrial park. Then the Pounceys would be merchandizing for him instead of calling him a coward on television.

No wonder Steeler fans laughed into the next season as we paid for their FA WR....man were we duped. Oh well, glad hes gone, hes Minnesotas problem now.

It doesn't matter that its the Pounceys. Forget the words they are using. The only thing that matters is that they aren't happy.
The narrative that has been pushed since that game is that players were all ok with what happened and it was all Philbin's fault.
This certainly pokes a hole in that theory.Dolphinzdawgg, xphinfanx, Sleepy and 2 others like this. -
Mike Wallace tweeting Maurkice's words were taken out of context in that excerpt of the the full interview. Says they were speaking in general terms, not directed at him.
If this is so, it is some shamefully pathetic manipulation by the media, which is nothing surprising sadly. -
Media is a joke if true. (we knew that)xphinfanx and Pandarilla like this. -
Going on cbs 4
Anyone have updates?

Watched the interview. Pretty much what the video shows, with a little extra stuff. Never mention Wallace by name, but sure looks like Maurkice is referring about him and about the alleged quitting incident. Doesn't appear manipulation by CBS4 with respect to the excerpt released.
Though I'll say they don't show the question and just cut straight to the statement. -
How do they not show the question? Thats insane?

I'm happy about the Mike Wallace trade.
But while Mike Wallace may be a "coward", throwing your former teammate under the bus makes you an unprofessional "rat".
(Both Pouncey brothers are former teammates of Mike Wallace).
I prefer the Russell Wilson approach about the Percy Harvin trade. Be professional & positive about it, wish your former teammate good luck, avoid saying anything negative, even smile and flat out lie to the media and claim that you never heard anything negative about your former teammate. You may hate your former teammate, but nobody likes a "snitch". Your current teammates will have greater respect for you, if they know that you'll cover for them in public, even in a bitter dispute.
If you're going to sling dirt about your former teammate, you should probably wait until everyone involved is retired from football. -
And Maurkice Pouncey responds "In my opinion, he's a coward. I never want a guy on my team like that, man, to walk out on your band of brothers."
I guess we'll have to see the whole interview. -
As far as defending him for what happened against the Jets. No clear explanation of exactly why he was taken out of the game has ever been stated publicly.
If he was taken out of the game because he had words with Tannehill and Philbin. That was a ridiculous reason to put him on the bench for the rest of the game.
If on the otherhand he flatly refused to go back in the game. I have no problem with the Dolphins trading him.
I would just like to know exactly what happened and the reason he was taken out of the game before I blame the incident completely on Wallace.Dolphinzdawgg and smahtaz like this. -
There was a locker room revolt, led by Percy Harvin, because Russell Wilson wasn't "black enough" (all his closest friends are white, all his gfs are white, etc).

As with the Charles Barkley and RG3 situation, sometimes black players want to know if another black teammate is "down with the cause", or if he's a "cornball brotha".

After Percy Harvin was traded to end this locker room cancer, Russell Wilson was asked about it in a press conference. And Russell Wilson said he never heard about the issue, while smirking in a way that said "of course I'm lying, to cover for my former teammate".
My point is that it's more professional to cover for your current & former teammates over disputes, rather than throwing them under the bus.
That said, the Pouncey comments seem to be have taken out of context by the media. -
Here's the full unedited video posted by CBS4. Don't mention Wallace's name, but it's pretty clear they're talking about him.

These Pouncey brothers?

I think its pretty obvious they were referring indirectly about Wallace. The question was asked in a general sense and the answers were in general. Did we ever hear what exactly happened when Wallace left the game or do we know? Bye the way thanks Sumlit for the link.

Maui no ka 'oi. -
I was just wondering what everyone thinks. Which was the bigger loss, Brandon Marshall or Mike Wallace? Just curious since they both left under similar circumstances.

"Free Hernandez"....
I don't think they should be talking about anyone's character. I don't like Wallace, but he's gone, what's the point of Pouncey talking now.LiferYank and MikeHoncho like this.
