I broke this on twitter two days ago. I had no sources or merit to back it up, but I totally broke this story.

hmmmm. Well i guess no Pitta. Daniel Thomas/Miller better step up and get ready to block.

one year... there goes that theory (of us not wanting to commit big money toward this years cap for some reason). I'm assuming this is in the $4 to $5.5m range. Should put to bed the Pitta talks. Now, LT and CB....

I still like this move... One less hole that HAVE to fill in the draft...Not saying that they don't draft someone (Kelce??), but we won't be caught with our pants down if one of the top 2/3 guys aren't available to us in the draft...
Now, we need a CB (or two) and an OT to at least go into the draft with all our options open...Da 'Fins likes this. -

Didn't see that, must be a one year, prove it deal coming off the injury...likely that TE is in the plans coming out of the draft...

Seems like I'm in the minority but I LOVE that Irish got Keller on a 1-year deal (which I did not expect, I thought we'd have to shell out for 3). Now if a TE drops in the draft we can swoop in, or if Egnew actually develops we won't be handcuffed to a deal for Keller. If neither of those things happen, we can re-sign Keller. Perfect.

Maybe the FO saw what Long was being offered by the Rams and said H*** NO. So tehy decided to move on. Either that or they just didn't want to remain dormant anymore. Either way, we finally improved the TE position. I don't think this rules out drafting one if one of the big two falls in our lap in the 2nd round.

What I really like is now we have Draft flexibility, some may say Cb..not so sure you need a #12 pick on a zone Cb.djphinfan likes this. -

Awesome. Now let's try to get Eric Ebron in NEXT year's draft.

I think they could (and should) still look at Kelce in the draft with 2nd pick in round 2 or in 3rd if still there. Or look at a bigger TE in later rounds.
This is a stopgap. Kelce (or a later round kid) can come in and block and be developed and Keller - at one year - gives them a veteran presence while Clay and Egnew continue to learn and develop.
Good signing though - they needed a veteran at this spot (the only other guy I'd have confidence in without a vet is Tyler Eifert and there's no guarantee he'd be there in round 2). -

I don't want to go DE in round 1.
Abraham did visit.
I bet Long is still in the works.
