I am sure most people here are not surprised. Thoughts anyone??

As expected, the hot and heavy debates and (internet equivalent) screaming matches about Chad Henne from a year ago...have ended with a fart noise rather than a bang.

He never seemed to have too much passion to win as a qb should to me. Not disappointed in seeing him leave at all.

Yes, and I genuinely feel bad for fans who had developed an emotional attachment to Chad Henne the player. It's tough because many of us, myself included thought our QB search was over after what we saw in 2009. I really wish he had an entire 2011 to either prove or disprove the critics. But he didn't, and the front office has seen enough to know he doesn't have what it takes to get the job done. More is required of the QB position than Chad Henne can offer to win in today's NFL. I think there is a bright career for Chad Henne as a good to very good back up in this league.
And before a dozen other fans say it, let me go out on a very sturdy limb and say, "Chad Henne IS NOT going to 'tear it up!!!' for another team." IMHO.dolfan7171, gunn34, Sceeto and 1 other person like this. -
Nobody can debate Henne the person. He carried himself well and deserved better. He was put in a difficult situation with a coaching staff and FO that half-heartedly supported him. He showed flashes of brilliance, but those flashes were drowned out by poor throws or critical INT's/ incompletions when games were on the line.
I wish the man well and wish things would have worked out better for him here.MAFishFan, Rocky Raccoon, DOLPHAN1 and 2 others like this. -

Chad never held himself as a starting QB. I mean, look at his wife...she has backup written all over her...

Personally I still think he was ruined last season and started to regain some confidence this year before the injury.
Lee and Henning were clueless when it comes to QB development.
Anyways I'm just happy I stayed loyal and stuck by our QB. Most of the fanbase can't say that.MAFishFan, DHPVW, resnor and 1 other person like this. -

I've made it known that I am very skeptical about Flynn, especially given the presence of Matt Moore. Frankly, I'm not convinced Flynn would be better than Henne. There are probably certain things he would do better, such as move in the pocket and avoid sacks. But was seeing a little growth in Henne. It's a shame we could see what he had with a better offensive line.
If we don't offer him anything that would seem to speak of their interest in bringing in another QB. I guess it's possible that they want Moore to start and Henne would be too expensive a backup or he wouldn't take well to not starting. But I think more likely they are looking to have Moore either be the backup or the short term starter in front of a young prospect.dolfan7171 likes this. -
I backed him until the injury and then I backed Moore. That doesn't mean I lap dogged on him.

I can't wait to hear Toddphins remarks as (I believe) it was him who wore Henne's jock the most on here. Two years ago I said he would be closer to Jamarcus Russel then a starter in three years and he called me insane in a different way.dolfan7171 likes this. -

My comments weren't directly directed at you MB.
A lot of fans became radical with their torches and pitchforks.
Henne angered me at times too but I took in consideration his youth and the process for which he was being taught to be a pro QB.MAFishFan and dolfan7171 like this. -
Well, good luck to him. He'll probably need it. But if he gets a coach that believes in him like Jim Harbaugh believes in Alex Smith, he could end up having a good year some day. It won't last, though.

Well, to me Henne would be a great #2 Qb w/NYG/STl/Denver/Tampa/Oakland/Jax
He's a good, not great Qb who can manage a game, can fling the rock, just lacks that killer instinct a true #1 Qb needs to exceldolfan7171 likes this. -
But from my perspective and I think to anyone who was looking at Henne objectively, he was treated no differently than any other QB in the NFL. We praised him when he did well, and criticized him when he did poorly. Unfortunately for Henne he provided more of the latter, especially post 2009.Ozzy and dolfan7171 like this. -
I had high hopes for Henne. I posted more than once early on advocating patience with a young developing QB, ultimately souring on him last season. And, while it is true he probably came into one of the worst situations in terms of the coaching staff and supporting cast, I wonder if he really has the passion for the game. I also have my doubts that he will land a starting gig anywhere in the league. I think he'll be signed as a back up somewhere, or brought in to compete with the incumbent.

If done in a RESPECTFUL manner, I think it's interesting, fun, and prudent to hold posters accountable for past predictions / projections / and opinions. I always respected Todd's opinions on Henne, even though I didn't often agree. I hope he posts in this thread to let us know his current thoughts.dolfan7171 likes this. -
Looked to me like Henne improved significantly under Daboll as OC, but didn't stand a chance this year with the fanbase given the Henning years. Players all referred to his leadership in the offseason of implementing the new system during the lockout. Pretty amazing when I think about it.
Henne was clearly the best player in a Dolphin uniform when he played. IMO fans confused a porous OL that included starters at 3 new positions and Jake Long that clearly wasn't healthy, poor play by the WR (even Bess looked confused early on), and play calling that kept targeting a butter-fingered Marshall in the end zone. 2 of his 4 picks were at the end of the game when he threw it up for grabs given the context (NE last play of game and Cleveland when Marshall was triple covered on 4th and 10) and another pick bounced off Dolphin WR. One pass was poor, but not bad given 3 games. His 7.8 ypa and running was superior to Moore's when many fans think Moore had a darn fine season (cough, cough).
Having said that, no way can Ireland or Philbin attach themselves to Henne given the context. I wouldn't be surprised if Henne is given a legitimate chance with decent talent he doesn't establish himself as a solid, not spectacular, starting QB. I think he would be the 2nd best option behind Flynn right now.
So long Chad, you never really stood a chance in a Dolphin uniform.Springveldt, jsizzle, MAFishFan and 3 others like this.
