Members I just saw this info and thought we might all like to know what the interest is in JT
Jason Taylor-DL- Dolphins May. 30 - 6:51 pm et
Jason Taylor will be subject to an $8,638 fine for each day of mandatory minicamps he misses, according to NFL Network's Adam Schefter.
The fines escalate to $15,116 daily in training camp. Taylor has $7.5 million in salary to work with. Schefter says Miami may opt to avoid the situation altogether and names five teams that have shown interest; the Saints, who have $25.8 million in free cap space, Eagles, Bucs, Cowboys, and Chargers. He calls Dallas the "most intriguing" landing spot, but a longshot.

It's amazing that the Chargers keep coming up, where there's smoke there'e fire. As far as Philly, we have already shown we are capable of working a deal with them, so maybe. Dallas, a year ago there was no way but now, who the hell knows. In my opinion, the Saintsare the longshot.

AJ Smith has said out here, that they are not interested in JT.:wink2: Thanks for the info bro.

I don't know how interested are the Eagles. They do have Lito who they are trying to get rid of apparently but I'm not sure BP and co. would swing a trade JT for Lito. They did sign Chris Clemons to an off-season deal to upgrade their pass rush, they now have Clemons and Cole on the outsides.
The Bucs have been involved in JT talks since draft day and were thrown around prior to the draft but never got that draft day deal done. I'm not surprised their still interested and seem like the team most likely to acquire him if indeed he is shipped off.
Chargers are denying their interest according to FFIC and FreeStyle but their name keeps being brought up. If Merriman was to be suspended again due to a failed drug test which reportedly he may have again, JT could be going there. You have to wonder how long A.J. Smith keeps Merriman around if he keeps having these substance abuse troubles.
Cowboys were one of the first teams thrown around on these boards if I remember correctly because of Zach (still not happy about that) being there and it is a possibility. We have already made one trade with the 'boys and wouldn't be surprised to see another one. I think there were reports earlier this off-season that they were not too happy with Spears and he was on the trading block. Someone please correct me if I am wrong.
The Saints are the longshot here as a poster mentioned earlier. I don't see them acquiring Jason. They have Bobby McCray who they apparently seem to be high on as they gave him a pretty big deal to be a backup. They still have Will Smith who is in a contract year and unhappy and they have Charles Grant who is fighting manslaughter charges so nobody knows what can happen with them two. Its a possibility but not highly likely imo.Styla likes this. -

Potential Spots For JT after News Conference
Members I thought this was interesting. I have mentioned here recently regarding Dallas which would be an intriguing move as well as Philly trying to move Lito and his Salary. Parcells knows Sheppard as the coaching staff and personal group are familiar with watching him beat there teams over the years.
Dolphins Jason Taylor to Saints or Eagles?
The Dolphins could step up efforts to trade Jason Taylor - wiping out the aforementioned scenarios. Then the options would be where Taylor would land. At this point, at least five teams have shown a varying degree of interest. They are:
- New Orleans -
The Saints have more than $25.8 million worth of salary cap space, so accommodating Taylor's $7.5 million base salary would not be an issue.
- Philadelphia -
Taylor would team with Pro Bowl defensive end Trent Cole to give the Eagles a dynamic pass-rushing tag team.
- Tampa Bay -
Similar to New Orleans, Tampa Bay is $28.1 million under the salary cap, meaning Taylor's contract would not be an issue. The Buccaneers starting defensive ends are scheduled to be last year's No. 1 pick, Gaines Adams, and Greg White. With defensive tackles Jovan Haye and Chris Hovan, Taylor could be a dominant force. Tampa Bay rarely is willing to surrender much in trade compensation, but they cannot be dismissed from any Taylor speculation.
-Dallas -
Of all the potential landing spots, none is more intriguing than Dallas. It is a longshot, granted, but Cowboys owner Jerry Jones never can be dismissed. Jones never bypasses big-name, talented players such as Taylor. He has thought about the possibility of Taylor in Dallas and, despite the long odds, could wind up taking action.
-San Diego -
Despite the Chargers denials, the team has debated the idea of trading for Taylor. What makes the prospects of a trade challenging are that San Diego already has traded next year's second-round pick to New England to draft running back Jacob Hester this year. But the Chargers are expected to get two mid-round compensatory draft choices for losing running back Michael Turner and cornerback Drayton Florence in free agency. -- NFL Network

They may have a lot of cap room but they do have Bobby McCray as a backup DE who they're confident in. They still have to sign Will Smith to a long term deal. They still have to sign they're rookies. Aren't they a longshot?
Philadelphia
Taylor would team with Pro Bowl defensive end Trent Cole to give the Eagles a dynamic pass-rushing tag team.
This may be a possibility but they signed Chris Clemons this off-season. Don't get me wrong, I don't believe he is an all-pro defensive end by any means. What compensation would we receive? Lito Sheppard? I don't see BP swinging a trade like that. I don't know if Eagles are willing to give up draft picks. They seem to invest a lot in them as they are yearly one of the top teams with numbers of draft picks.
Tampa Bay

The most likely destination in my opinion. Then again, they do have Greg White who had eight sacks in two games started last year. He was a big surprise and is expected to be the starter as stated in the article.
Dallas
Of all the potential landing spots, none is more intriguing than Dallas. It is a longshot, granted, but Cowboys owner Jerry Jones never can be dismissed. Jones never bypasses big-name, talented players such as Taylor. He has thought about the possibility of Taylor in Dallas and, despite the long odds, could wind up taking action.
I think this can happen because of ZT being there and they're a contender. He did take on arguably the biggest drama in the league in Pacman so it wouldn't be a shock if they took on Taylor.
San Diego

They have denied the rumors but they still get thrown around. Like the article stated, they are missing a second rounder which seems like good value for Jason but BP isn't looking for that. His grade is a first rounder. I doubt he gets the compensation he wishes and if he doesn't, JT is a no go imo. A.J. Smith could become tired of Merrimans substance abuse troubles and give up on him despite him being an unbelievable talent. Anything is possible with Smith running it. -
If Miami can be patient, I see somone coming up with a decent deal for JT. In the presser today, JT says he's going to play this season. I suspect if he knows he's going to a contender, I think he'd be willing to play longer than that. We'll see. I think this thing is still in the 3rd quarter so to speak. JMO.
