MIA Talking Extension w/Wake

If there is anybody on this team that's worthy of a contract extension, it's Cameron Wake. This is probably Wake's one and only shot at a big payday so I encourage him to get the best deal that he can. PAY THIS MAN!!!

Good, Wake worked long and hard to get to the NFL and I suspect like James Harrison will not slow down once past 30 yrs old.

Neither one has the wear and tear on them the average NFL player has by the time they each hit 30.

One of the few bright spots of this season was watching him play. As good as his stats are they still don't describe what a presence he was on the field. OC's have learned that you have to game plan him around him. Or else he will wreak absolute havoc.

And this guy has it together, he's gonna get even better. These next couple years he has a chance to really make a name for himself.

Good boy Irish..sign the mother grabber...start rebuilding the Miami Dolphin image...something that your predecessor completely destroyed.

This is where we find out if the club is really trying to be cheap or not. Give him a deal that lets him know he is in our long term plan and we want to build around him.

Would really like to land a pure passrusher to play across from him though JS, when Jason Taylor was in Miami and in his prime, the guy across from him, Trace Armstrong, O-Gun, had double digit sacks

its nice, but since he is still under contract, the news that we talk with soliai and mcdaniel would make me much happier

I'm with you there. Lets see some movement on Soliai before he is allowed to hit the market.

I don't think you can say he has the same mileage as another LB his age that's been in the league their entire career.

He's similar to Ricky.

Trace Armstrong taught JT a lot. Trace already had multiple double digit sack years before JT was paired up with him; he had 12 with Miami the year prior to JT joining the organization. He also had 2 years of double digit sacks in Chicago prior to coming to Miami. Don't discount that. Sure JT made Armstrong look better but, Armstrong also helped JT look better. Those two coupled with Tim Bowens and Daryl Gardener didn't hurt things either. That was a hell of a D-line from 1997 through 2000.

And if someone else on the otherside starts getting a little more pressure we will see Wakes name all over the place.

I have a gut feeling that Miami is only going to bring one of those two guys back, my money being on Soliai. McDaniel has said he wants to be a starter, which he won't be in Miami unless they cut bait with Randy Starks. Yeah, Starks had a down year, but he'd also shaped himself to play NT for a full year, not DE. I think by the time he shook off some of the weight, he was out of his so-called "slump". I like McDaniel a lot, but he always manages to come up with untimely penalties. The Pittsburgh game really stings in my memory, and personally, I don't think he's as good as Langford or Starks and it's hard to imagine them bringing him back as the 3rd option with Jared Odrick slated to come back, though I'd rather have McDaniel than Odrick and Merling.

I don't know. McDaniel is a beast and only 25-26 years old. I would hate to see him go someplace else.

This would be the first good thing this organization has done in 2011. Only took 22 days.

Well, to me McDaniel is a good player, but the system that acquired him is more important, so if they cannot afford him due to the Cap coming back he can be replaced it is Soliai that has to be retained.

You can understand why they would not give a NT with a history of weight issues and 1 good season under his belt a large deal heading into a period of time when he will have to rely on himself for motivation.

My guess is that they extend Wake and sign Soliai, but that McDaniels leaves. I think McDaniels wants to test the market. The only way he comes back is if our offer is higher. I don't even think he'll be back if our offer was the same as some other team's.

Yes 28 is no spring chicken in this league, but in my honest opinion he is like a classic muscle car you find in the barn. I can't see why we cannot expect another 5 years of solid play out of him .
