I'm sure this thread will endear me to the countless "Suck for Luck" posters but, is worth thinking about.
I keep looking at the talent on our team, compared to how they have played, and it just does not compute. I'm not looking for players to play over their head, although it would be nice. I'm am looking at what they have done last year, and thinking they can play at least that well. It's not a whole lot to expect.
I believe we can beat the FRAKIN Jets, with a healthy team coming off the bye. Jets are lucky to be 2-2, have to go to NE, and we could give them loss #4.
Then, we have Denver, who we should beat, Giants who we could beat, and KC who we should beat.
IF our players play up to their talent, it could well happen.

Be optimistic if it makes you feel better, but it's hard to win 4 in a row in this league as it is. -

Not if Henne misses any time SB..
Your right, this team has underachieved, so until I know they are least committed for 60 mins without sulking and *****ing, you really can't project an accurate performance..
They put themselves in this position as a team to hear this Suck for luck stuff, to me, I don't care whether the coach was undermined during the offseason, A team of grown men could of still come together considering where they came from, and what they haven't accomplished yet, to play like a bunch of crazed dogs..but they chose to cop out, and let distractions ruin them.Dansar, dolfan32323 and Trillfan like this. -

BTW, this team is not beating anyone with Tony at the helm... there is a reason this team has lost 7 games in a row...
-
This team simply isn't that good DJ. We did the normal fan thing and wildly overrated most of the talent on this team. How many teams would trade their roster for ours? Not many.

During this bye week, players and coaches have a lot of time to reflect on how badly they have played. What they do with that info is anyone's guess. -

Its more than underachieving. The team is not prepared and that falls on the coaches.

Yes SB they could, but what they haven't earned at this point for me at least, is respect..and until they show that they care to be a team that fights like a team that hasn't accomplished sh^%, then I can't project wins until you know your getting at least their best effort..
Bro, there was so much careless play in san diego, so much lack of toughness, and absolutely no awareness of the situation...I watched Sean smith on that deep sideline route he gave up, where it looked like he had the coverage, over and over, absolutely pathetic sense of awareness and sense of urgency, he had the play covered....I really saw half *** effort at the goal line too..
Will I be rooting for them to beat the Jets and to somehow find the ''will to succeed'', or some sense of a ''team purpose'', yes, but this is the last game I give them that chance...If they don't wanna do it, than Iam ready to look at the future. -
I also see missed FGs, drops, missed tackles, and being beaten one one one. That is the players. -
-
I can't think of anyone else, which is very sad. -
I'll be watching the young guys. Henne, Thomas, Pouncey, Clay, Gates, Bess, Marshall, Hartline, Jerry, Long on offense.
Davis, Smith, Clemons, Soliai, Langford, Odrick, Misi on defense.
We have a couple guys up for extensions, Henne, Langford, Smith, Soliai, possibly Wake.
I'd rather see those guys improve and grow as players even of it means that (GASP) we win a few games and miss out on the 1st overall pick.MrClean likes this. -
Our team just not very talented. If the premise of the OP is that our team is too talented to be 0-4, I would strongly disagree.
-Our O-line is a disaster outside of Big Jake and Pouncey
-We have one RB that is any good and he's a injury-prone rookie.
-Our WRs are pretty good, but our best guy likes to drop TDs.
-Don't get me started on our QB
-Our D-line is really good.
-Our linebackers are playing poorly
-Our secondary is playing terribly. Our Safeties are GARBAGE. I'm told our CBs are great. They sure don't play great. -
-
Our DL, aside from Starks, has SUCKED.
Our lbS, aside from Wake 9for the most part(, have SUCKED.
Our S's have SUCKED.
Our CB's have SUCKED.
How the hell can most of these guys play well a year ago, and not have talent? -
I'm amazed when I see people ragging on those of us who want a shot at Luck.
You're right, screw that. Let's win a few games, become 7-9, get a lousy draft pick that we waste, and wallow in mediocrity a few more years!
Woo hoo!dolfan32323 and GARDENHEAD like this. -
Exactly. We ain't going 12-4!
-
Get a "lousy" draft pick, put the proper organizational structure in place, and actually draft a good QB without having to tank the season and take the most obvious choice? There are more good QBs drafted outside the top-5 than there are drafted in the top-5.MrClean likes this. -

Sorry...just going by the blueprint the Penguins used back in '83. Suck real bad, draft Lemiuex, build a team around him, win back to back championships.
Worked for them, could work for us. -

4-4? With this team? Gotta be kidding me.
-
The 1996 Jets finished 1-15 with a team that most everyone thought had quite a bit more talent than its record. Sometimes you hit the perfect sh*t storm. 2 years later they were in the AFC Championship.
This team has a young talent base, much of which is underachieving, but has shown the ability to perform much better. They still need help at some positions, and a few more playmakers.
But I do disagree with the OP in that while they can win 4 in a row, having the talent doesn't necessarily mean it's just a matter of time. Sometimes you're just the 1996 Jets.
