I just hope he has time before he is forced into the role.

This is the thing I don't like about the NFL inc., they set young players on a pedestal and then toss darts when they have growing pains.
What I really would like to see is the running game at least hit the level the Jest had when Nacho took them to AFC Title games. Running game is the young Qb's best friend.
This is why Lamarr Miller was drafted imo, they probably see a young Qb, DTrain, Bush who will probably be leaving after this season, so they added Miller so he and DT can form a one-two punch for the next 4 yrs..hopefullythe 23rd and Ohio Fanatic like this. -

I hope they see what they have in this new oline before they even think of starting him.

mentioned earlier it could happen, Tannehill could win the start straight up.
there's a good side & bad side to learning on the job, but I think this kid can handle the down side
let them compete for the start:dolphin:
regardless of how much time it takes, we finally have our Franchise QB:rimshot::party:Mcduffie81 likes this. -
If they have Miller, and he shows he can do a lot of what Bush can do, and is 20% of the cost, we've seen how that works out with Ireland. -
If Bush fits well into this system (which is a good bet) why not keep him and pay him the money? I hope we do. He also sets a GREAT example as how to be a pro for these young guys. Would be worth it....IMO. -
B/c with Jake Long, Vontae Davis, Cam Wake, and Sean Smith all needing new deals, there is only so much cash to go around.
And I do think Reggie Bush will have a fine year for us, but his four or five million dollar salary could mean keeping Smith or Randy Starks.
Already have Miller on the roster, we really do not have replacements for the defensive players.
Personally I'd like to see Reggie B and Miller and Dtrain form a potent backfield that can do it allMcduffie81 likes this. -
I envision Bush being a major staple of this offense. Hes a guy to build around.
I personally wouldnt lose any sleep if we didnt resign SSmith to keep Bush. -
-
To me, Wake, Long, Starks and Davis are the priorities. Among the rest, we'll keep some and lose some. -
I think it depends on the season Reggie has, if this scheme exploits his skillset, and we see a threat in the backfield and split out as a receiver, and he stays on the field a lot, and performs at a high level, than we have to take all that into consideration before we just let him walk.

this is why you draft OL and place an importance on the position. I don't understand how you make a post like this that makes sense then make statements like "OL doesnt score TDs". Am I thinking of the wrong poster?
as to the thread, please make tannehill the starter day one. he can't be any worse than this;

In my view, a well managed team does not do what we have done.
As for the video, you do realize coaches tell Qb's to do exactly that when no one is open in the EZ?
Just checking. -
you're right, a well managed team doesn't miss on that many players. our only good players on oline before this season were first round picks. I have all kinds of problems with pouncey being drafted not because he's a bad player but because we ****ed up signing grove from the raiders and dumping satele (sp?). The only thing beyond our control was carey getting so old this season. Columbo was a disaster and I'm not the biggest incognito fan but he's at the least serviceable. -
And that is sort of my point, we overpay for decent OL talent, and rarely gave the less highly drafted players a chance to play. Sparano was so anal about "how you practice is how you will play" imo it led to overpaying for OL.
As for the MMoore video, I saw the receiver at the lower left corner of the play, BUT, at that point MMoore had stepped up in the pocket, and imo due to the "big man game" theory, could not see over the OL so he threw it away.
What is funny to me, why no video of the defense allowing Dallas to drive down the field to kick the winning FG?
As for why he did not run, the DE's got instant pressure, MMoore stepped up, if you look to his right you see Bess on a curl with a Db in his hip pocket, it looked like 10 yds or so to go for the first down, do you see him beating the Db and picking up the first down running the ball?
I don't. -
They lost that game by 1 point. Moore handed them a touchdown with a botched snap from center that was his fault. He ****ed up the red zone chance you saw there which led to a fist pumping FG. that's an 11 point swing. If moore doesn't suck the defense doesnt have to worry about giving a fg, a game in which they were only responsible for 13 points.
Let's also not forget the wide open marshall moore almost under threw and got bailed out by prob the best play of our season by marshall. -
Ugh, that was not a good play by Moore. But Padre is right, Sparano and his conservative coaching probably told him to throw it away. No pocket presence. Moore throws a great long ball. He could easily have run for that first down. Tannehill would easily have run for that first down.

He is not a franchise Qb but he can be serviceable and with the right <teachers> he might even be decent. -
I completely agree with you that they are hoping Miller improves his blocking this year, gets a little stronger and will be a replacement to Bush. I think Cam Wake could very well be franchised next year if he's trying to get similar to Mario Williams type contract, and Fasano will not be resigned next year and if Egnew and Clay looks good even earlier than he could be let go before this season starts. Sean Smith is on the bubble and I'm thinking if it cost too much to resign Starks I could see them drafting a DL next year. I think they have plans to sign Long next season but that could change if they see enough out of Martin to take over the LT position even if it doesn't play to Long's level. I only say that because with a mobile qb in a west coast offense we may not require a top LT. I think Hartline is going to flourish in this offense and they will hope to resign him cheap mid season.

13 points? really? you're gonna blame the defense for giving up 13 points to one of the top offenses last season? If a defense holds an offense under 20 points it was a good day. Our offense was horrible and not only let up field position and blew red zone chances all day but matt moore fumbled a snap on our own 3 to give the cowboays their first TD of the day. If that the defenses fault for letting the cowboys score from our 3? the love you people show for matt moore when he's straight up garbage, nothing more than a back up in the nfl is insane. I guess Tim Tebow is a great quarterback too since denver won games when he played? -
Hope so; doubt it. In a year, we'll see.
-
Haha. That was an awesome catch and it was bitter sweet for me. As a Cowboys fan that really sealed the deal for getting rid of Newman (which is good). Many Cowboy fans really wanted to keep Matt Moore because he had a lot of potential. No comparison to Tannehill. Tanny has a big arm, quick release and is very accurate. He is a leader - hopefully Miami can help him with a running game and some sure handed WRs.

Maybe Moore is not a franchise QB, but for you to say he is garbage shows how deluded you are. He had the 12th best passer rating last season, so if he is garbage so are at least 20 other starting QBs.Ozzy likes this. -
I do give Smith some credit for keeping himself healthy enough to play the 2nd most defensive snaps last season, while his opposite number, Vontae, was constantly battling muscle pulls and cramps it seemed. A lot of that is due to poor preparation. Smith cramped up against the Pats in week 1, but while our secondary was already depleted, he chose to stay out there and battle through it. Unlike Vontae. Smith missed 5 plays that game while Vontae missed 24. It was week 6 before Vontae was close to 100%. Poor preparation. -
Now that's out of the way, the fumble by moore was his fault. I can't find a clip of it so if you can then go ahead and post it but it def hit his hands. It may have been a tad low and I think left but it still should have been handled. Lets assume you're right though. those points don't fall on the defense. The defense only let up 13 points at most against a top offense and Matt moore stalled out our offense more than once and almost threw a pick but got bailed out by marshall on the touchdown I posted earlier in this thread. If you guys want to love on matt moore than go for it but nobody in NFL thinks he is a legit starter. I don't get excitied about weak armed quartbacks with low football iq that go 6-7 and never break 300 yards passing.
