Yes let's draft him, cause we all know how well this coaching staff develops young quarterbacks!

Take out the Syracuse and Oregon State games in which he threw 9 TD and 1 int Locker threw a "whopping" 8 TD and 8 int in his other 11 games he played...as a SENIOR! Only completed 53.9% of passes on 1,148 attempts...OUCH! Finished his college career with 53 TD and 35 interceptions.
I watched Washington play a couple of times and I kept wondering what in the heck people see in him. Maybe he is a great practice QB because he is adequate at best in the game.
Maybe Locker only has more talent in his pinky than Henne has in his thumb.
Locker would be an absolute WASTE of a 1st round pick! He would be just another in a long line of QBs that suck for Miami ever since Marino retired.Pandarilla, Agua, dolfan7171 and 2 others like this. -

Good. My sig speaks for itself.
A lot of people around here seem to be calling for a runningback, but if the past decade is any indication, it's the Ben Roethlisbergers and Tom Bradys that win superbowls, not the Adrian Petersons and Chris Johnsons.dolfan7171, gunn34 and NaboCane like this. -
Locker has bust written all over him. He’s this year’s Jimmy Clausen.dolfan7171 and DolfanJake like this. -

Nevermind that they have completely different styles of play, Locker has never been questioned about his toughness, leadership or maturity.
Also, Locker never had Floyd, Rudolph or Tate.... not to mention that Charlie Weis guy....dolfan7171, NaboCane and ToddsPhins like this. -
To me, the only really legitimate QB options in the first round this year are Blaine Gabbert and Cam Newton, and I think Gabbert will have a more immediate impact than Newton.dolfan7171, GMJohnson and DolfanJake like this. -
We want them to take a long long hard look at Locker don't we?
Exhaust all measures and figure out he's not worth it. -
I highly doubt Locker has it.
The guy gets hurt all the time. He runs way too tough to be a quarterback in the NFL. He is fun to watch, however he just isn't a good quarterback. He is much worse than Vince Young. -
Every report coming out there seems to have the Phins going down that same road.
Can we not just look at QB's with the presence to shift successfully in the pocket or are nimble enough to scramble if need be but still have focused on mastering the position of QB?
No it seems these guys are clearly a group that gets infatuated with glam over substance.
My ability to stay positive is dwindling quickly.fins1 and DolfanJake like this. -
smoke screen. We want people to think this.

ugh no, he will not be a good nfl QB

Jake Locker is going to make someone very glad they picked him in this draft, whether it's 15th or 25th - or whenever.
He may need work, but I see the same intangibles in Locker that I saw in Phillip Rivers when almost everyone else was micro-worrying about his delivery or this or that.dolfan7171 likes this. -

I love all the pro talent scounts around here.
The facts are, Locker played on a pretty crappy team and he has shown flashes of being pretty good. Last season he was what Luck was this season. None of you know if he'll be a bust, good, or great. Our coaching staff "turning over every rock" is something I WANT them to do. Anything else would piss me off. So them "looking" at all available players, IMO, is good.dolfan7171 and MrClean like this. -
That Husky team Locker played for was much more talented than you are giving credit.dolfan7171 and jetssuck like this. -
At the Senior Bowl, where issues between QB's and WR's are to be expected, Rivers flat out lit it up. Not for nothing, but Rivers is also a full 6-5, which never hurts.NaboCane and dolfan7171 like this. -
Was Locker not talked about last season like Luck was this season?
Did Locker not show flashes of being pretty good?
Do you want the Dolphins FO to look at every single QB in the upcoming draft?

For what it's worth, though, I'm very much a fan of Cam Newton too. I wouldn't be disappointed in the least if we took him with Locker still on the board.
All in all, he SOMEWHAT regained form towards the end of the year. He's definitely worth a 5th rounder (that's where mocks having him getting taken) based on that potential alone. The guy rushed for 1700 yards his Freshman year... you can't make that stuff up.
The reason he is coming out is because Pitt has essentially self-destructed (presumably because they lost me :) ). They lost their head coach twice in two weeks and the three best players are declaring (Sheard, Baldwin, Romeus). Sunseri is an awful quarterback and the team simply has no potential left. I don't think Lewis had much of a choice...
I realize that we need more help in the running game, though, and that Lewis won't necessarily be an immediate impact kind of guy; I think we hit free agency for a lead back and then split the carries 3:1, easing him in (or out) as necessary.dolfan7171 and GMJohnson like this. -
Only by Maylock, by any other scout he was generally talked about being a 3rd round pick. One of the main reasons he went back to college.
Every player who is going to be in the draft showed flashes of being pretty good.
I do want the FO to look at every single QB, that is why I do not want them to look at Locker. Well maybe as a safety or a runningback. -
Completion % is usually the best metric to use in gauging how successful a guy will be at the next level. Locker just isn't accurate enough for my tastes. I've said before that Locker is Baseball player trying to play QB, not the other way around.

i do think locker is a bit overrated, but he definately didnt have any kind of supporting cast to go with him... i dont know if id like to draft him or not, BUT i will tell you i will support him if he does get drafted along with any other player we might draft, unlike most people who hate on anyone we draft
-
not really because some college teams run short crossing patterns that is very easy to have a high percentage and the QB might not even be very good

Scouts are paid to give their advice and opinions about potential NFL players. Being indifferent or having no clue about a future NFL QB is not what a pro scout does.
Don't get me wrong, everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Even the arm chair QB's, GM's, HC's, and owners here. However, when people who are not pro talent scouts consistently spew out nonsense about how great or how bad a player is when that player has yet to even play one down in the NFL is beyond absurd. There are a few guys around here who actually go out and "scout" these players. Their opinions, and rightly so, deserve a little bit more weight and respect because of this, however, they too are not being paid to scout. Sure I have, and expect others to have, their favorite college players and opinions as to whom they think will be the better NFL players, although it's absurd to me when people are 100% certain in the way they post about some players and get angry when someone likes or dislikes another player that they themselves like or dislike.dolfan7171 and MrClean like this. -

if i'm drafting a QB, i'd take a flier on Dalton ... you may argue his arm strength or level of competition - but the dude played under a whole lot of pressure the last 2 years, just to get to a bowl game.
-
I know Cam Cameron isn't a well liked name in these parts, but I remember him saying something about quarterback evaluations that really stuck with me. He pretty much said: "Either a quarterback is accurate, or he isn't. You can't teach accuracy." Jake Locker has never a career completion percentage over 60%. Luckily for him, he still has the rest of the draft process to try and remove those doubts. I've seen enough throws from Henne that consistently miss their targets. Miami needs a QB that can actually hit a guy in the numbers wearing the same uniform for a change.

The media makes it seem they are only scouting Locker which I find hard to believe. I would think they have already scouted and reviewed film on Locker and already have a pretty good idea whether or not he will be on their draft board. Its possible they are looking at him or one of the other seniors at pratice and not Locker since they seem to hold seniors in high regards. Possibly they are looking at a certain wide recievers ability to catch passes from an inaccurate or unfamilar QB. Or an olinemans ability to pass block for a mobile or unfamilar QB.
If they are really only talking up the scouting of Locker with the media then I would tend to agree with those suggesting smokescreen.dolfan7171 likes this. -
