Not bad at all. Now if they can make or get a 6'3" WR into the next Andre Johnson, we'll be Super Bowl bound in no time.

 

The Defense definately improved from last year, not doubt. Many things helped though, the Offense having a lot less turnovers and trying to dominate Time of Possession did wonders for the Defense. The less you are on the field the less yards/points you can let up.

The one thing that is really, really scary about our Defense was the lack of a pass rush for the last 3 or 4 games. The pass rush seemed was horrible and as much as I love Joey Porter I think he only plays when he wants too. The position he plays in the 3-4 counts on him to be getting pressure on the QB and to never give up on plays. He did get 17.5 sacks this year, so don't get me wrong the guy is a player; it just seemed like he was Ok with being engulfed and man-handled in the last few games.

Its critical to either have shutdown Cornerbacks or really good pass rushing DEs or LBs to prevent long plays in the NFL. We had the pass rush towards the beginning of the year but it went away towards the end of the year. That either means we changed our philosophies and what we like to do on defense (highly unlikely) or that other teams found a way to stop our pass rush aka Joey Porter. I definately think we will be going after a LB in the draft or Free Agency that can help us out in that regards.

If anyone gets a chance to go back and watch the Ravens game look at how much time Flacco has back there. He should only have about 3 seconds to make a decison and throw the ball. He had all day back there, often more than 4 or 5 seconds.

 

For lazy people like me. Heres more information about the whole Peterson, Tuna situation.

Yeah! I agree brother. I've said this before. Such as, Bowles for example. His secondaries have always been aggresive and have been known for getting a lot of picks. It takes some time for coaching and the new schemes to take eefect. You can see the difference in our secondary from the first half of the season as opposed to the second half, take Goodman for an example or Will Allen etc. Parcells did do a hell of a job in putting this staff together. Kudos Tuna!!

Still, considering the WR recruits Dorrell's had in UCLA, the FO's sole FA acquisition of Wilford, Parcells' history with Keyshawn, etc, it won't surprise me if a WR we acquire won't be tall.

 

We are getting close to being a legit play-off contender.

We'll find out next year how close we are to being a legit contender, or if we were just the next 07 Cleveland Browns.

Just an example, I don't think there's any way we'll ever end up in as bad of shape as Cleveland.

 

If we were to simply re-sign our free agents and add one major free agent we'd be in great standing with the nice number of picks we have.

For the sake of the franchise, I dearly hope so. I do not want to see another team of mine suffer under Dorrell's uber-conservative playcalling. That one year he had a good offense, Tom Cable called the plays.
