Miami Herald columnist Armando Salguero reports the Dolphins will look at UCLA head coach Jim Mora for their head coaching job. Owner Stephen Ross will be heavily involved in the search, and executive vice president for football operations Mike Tannenbaum will be the point man.
What are ya'lls thoughts on this

well i dont know how i feel about that one. at least he has experience?

Mora has a sub 500 coaching record as an NFL head coach. He has been slightly above average as the head coach at UCLA.
He seems to be another Philbin when it comes to his ability as a head coach. So given that Ross wants to be heavily involved in the search for a new head coach, Mora is probably right at the top of his list of candidates.
Instead of being involved in the hiring of the next head coach, Ross should be busy firing everyone from Tannebaum on down. He should then hire a competent head of football operations and allow this individual to have complete control over the hiring of the new GM and head coach.
Ross needs to stick to real estate and signing the checks and stay completely out of the hiring of anymore coaches or GM's. He sucks at it.pumpdogs likes this. -

I think he's a name on a list nothing more. "well if our first ten choices turn us down"

If Ross is heavily involved, the team is doomed from the beginning. Get ready for another 4 years of mediocrity.

No thank you. He is in the college game for a reason.

Hopefully he was talking about the Miami Hurricanes job and writing this a few months ago.

The biggest news in this report is that Tannenbomb will be the point man in the search, confirming he will return.
My thought is it doesn't really matter who the next hire is as long as the personnel department continues to be terrible.gunn34 likes this. -
So unless Mora is the next Belichick, history seems to imply that he probably won't have much more success with the Dolphins than he had with his previous NFL team.
Since I don't own the team and don't have the financial resources to buy it from Ross. I am just like every other Dolphin fan. I have to sit around and wait for Ross and Tannebaum to screw up another coaching search. I wish I had more confidence in this dynamic duo, but I actually have none.
Until Ross sells this team, I really don't see much hope for this organization. Unfortunately as a fan since 1966, I just find myself hoping against hope he will sell this team in the very near future. -
I'm in the minority but I've always liked Mora Jr. I think he learned a lot from his first NFL gig. I do not think he'll be the guy though.

I don't think I'd be opposed to this. Would rather have him as a D-coordinator, but I don't think it would be a "bad" hiring.
I've read that he and his family really prefer the west coast, and his job is pretty secure with UCLA, but the Chargers job could be appealing if it's available to him. -
Five years later and I'm still waiting for him to make his first intelligent move when it come to hiring the right people to run this football team.dolphin25 likes this. -
I don't think Mora is the worst option out there. It's okay to take a look.
Considering that the other name Armando keeps bringing up is Eric Mangini... -
On the plus side they will be 7 other candidates interviewed also. If Ross wants to sell season tickets he will need to hire someone who will excite the fan base and Mora is not one of them.Relax.

A experienced HC would be nice, with a winning track record.
Think about it, the last HC who fit that bill was JJ, Wanny was up and down in Chicago, since then we constantly out "smart" ourselves.
Shall we examine the post Wanny era?
-Saban...losing record
-Camero..cannot complete that name (switch to an offense first mindset btw)
-Sparano..when he had a good Qb he won, Henne never quite was a good Qb..losing record
-Philbin..losing record
As Don Shula tweets during Panthers games "pound the ball, keep pounding"..let's try that for a change -

I will boycott the dolphins if we go and get mora, im dead ****ing serious.

Is this even a real question?

ross needs someone that will feel intimidated by him.

I'd take Jim Mora. Always thought he was a quality NFL HC.
