Wow, would be great! If the price is right.

Not buying this story.

edit: try not to fall in love with zac stacy though....lol -
I don't know if Johnson will be a good fit now that we have Moreno, there was probably a window of opportunity to get Johnson in a Dolphins uniform but that passed the minute we signed Moreno.
-
I suspect we inquired about Johnson prior to signing Moreno. The price was probably too high so they went in a different direction. We were obviously in the market for a RB this offseason so it would have been foolish not to at least call the Titans to see what they wanted.
I would have preferred MJD over Moreno, but at least we got somebody.Limbo likes this. -
Sign Johnson, cut Thomas and Gillisilee and draft a RB. Lazor will have a great situation in the backfield at the very least short term. Moreno/Johnson/Miller/Rook......hell ya.
-
**** that guy. Glad we got Moreno instead.

A little disturbed that they even tried to trade for him.

I wouldn't sign him, and hearing the Phins were in talks to trade for him is pretty disappointing. Johnson is a one-trick pony. He makes a cut and then runs fast, and that's all he does. He might break an arm tackle here and there, but, he isn't going to grind out yards for you. He's an incomplete player. I would MUCH rather sign a Moreno, or spend a draft pick and get a Carlos Hyde or Jeremy Hill.

How in the name of Sam Hill does any human being run a 4.24 40 ?

Moreno was probably the back-up plan so I don't think Johnson is likely on the table anymore, but I wouldn't have been against it.
Physically he very much still has it, he's just got some bad habits in terms of decision making as a runner. I think there's potential for him to have very productive years if you can work with him on that and then focus on a selection of run plays he does well. -
" were gonna rebuild the running game"
Our staffs words..
The combination of Moreno and Johnson working off what Wallace does, the fact that both Johnson and Moreno can catch, the zone blocking scheme relative to Johnson's skillset...speed speed speed on the field messing with defenders mind sets and space being created because of it is something that could be taken advantage of by a good coordinator.. -

I cant help believe Moreno was plan B if a trade could not be worked out for Johnson .It was either-or situation not both IMO.
The Jets ,Rams and Falcons appear to be the favorites to sign him at this time. -

I would not get into a bidding war. But, he would be a great weapon - esp. in the passing game with his speed. Guys that know how to make big plays are rare. But, I don't think there is any way we could outbid the other interested teams - nor do I think the Dolphins will want to now that they have signed Moreno. Rare that a team would just overload like that.
But I too see no future for either DT or MG in this league other than 3rd/4th string ST types. -
Johnson is done. He's no longer the elusive back he once was. He's never been a tackle breaker. He still dances too much in the backfield. He doesn't just take the 3 yard gains he'd rather lose a yard then gain the 3 trying to break a big gain. That crap worked a few years when teams hadn't caught on. Now he's not quick or agile enough to make those tacklers miss
-
Just saw on twitter he's got the most runs of any back in the NFL for zero yards or a loss since he entered the league in 2008. Of course, that's not a coincidence. He probably has the most or second most carries since then as well.
But that's kind of my point when I knock the idea of trading for or signing him. He's got 2000+ career touches. That's a LOT of wear and tear. And I think it's showing when you watch him.Boik14 likes this. -
As for whether we sign him or not. It won't bother me either way. If we do, great. If we don't, oh well. -
What I see is a highly probable upgrade to our stable. 2000+ carries....? never missed a game.
