He smoked pot in college? I say we shoot him.

My respect for him has just increased 10 fold.

Eh, for me he went from interesting guy from obscure sport who was incredibly successful to...a dude...one of many.
Nothing to see there...just move along. -
Hmmmmm....a 23 year old kid smoking pot. What a revelation. Stay tuned for more breaking news as we show video of an irishman drinking a pint of ale, an englishman with a cup of tea and a russian guy taking shots of vodka.

Who cares. I'm sure most posters on this site have smoked weed before.
It has to be the most used illegal drug. -
Every day, baby. Before exams. After exams. Sometimes during.
Weed should be legal; cigs should be illegal.Frumundah Finnatic likes this. -

at least he is using a roor, top notch glass bong...:up:

this changes absolutely nothing for me. he is still a ginormous dweeb.
yeah yeah...and a great swimmer.High Definition and unluckyluciano like this. -
He's not perfect.
He also got a DUI in 2004.
IMO, the d-bag is the person who sent the photo to the tabloid (and most likely made a pretty penny from it). -
if he had said he smoked but never inhaled he could be president, stupid ***......

Ricky would be proud and 95% of NBA players

Not so much a great role model anymore. I know everyone does it, but kids don't understand that yet, and this will, like someone mentioned already, cost Phelps a lot of lost revenue.
And Muck, you wouldn't? If I had that pic I'd sell it to the highest bidder, in a second. -
I wouldn't have realized that was him without being told. Maybe he should have denied it.

As someone who is sick of hearing and seeing Phelps, I think it's bull that someone would take a picture of him doing that and then turn around (and most likely make money selling it to the press). Can't people have some privacy anymore, do we really need to know or care about what these people do at home?

I wouldn't do it if it was Bolt, though. :) -

how come no one shows a picture of him casually drinking a beer? oh because it would be stupid. same here.

Golden boy no more.

lol What a moron. You have to be pretty stupid to think that you can be a huge celebrity at a party with a bunch of random people and think that nobody is going to take a pic when your lighting up a bong.
He should lose his endorsements for being such a dumbass, again. -
-
-
whereas someone like lindsey lohan who drives reckless under the influence and almsot had her and innocent people killed when she stole their car while they were in the vehicle, and she gets off not only scot free, but she still has movie deals and sponsorships.
but michael phelps takes a hit on a bong and suddenly hes the worlds most dangerous drug addict that should no longer make a living because someone got greedy and invaded his privacy.Frumundah Finnatic likes this. -

you all are just now getting into my way of thinking -
Do you really think Phelps' sponsors want to endorse or have their people promote weed? Don't think so.
I don't care if he smokes, but if your a millionaire and could lose a ton of money doing something stupid, don't do it in public. There's no other reason than stupidity for this to make the news. -
Look I dont excuse stupid behavior but theres a line that needs to be drawn between being stupid and reckless and being stupid and not putting other people in danger, and risk losing your income because of it. When do we start condemning people who invade other people's privacy and profit off of it?
