I have only played the KZ2 demo and wasn't overly impressed. Pretty? Yes. But nothing I wanted to go play as soon as I could. There's been a huge amount of buzz surrounding KZ2 since it's release (mixed reviews from what I can tell).
Good old Microsoft couldn't sit quietly (who does these days?). They issued a congrats to Sony and the KZ2 team... And then promised something great. kind of a backhanded compliment.

Apparently, they have some super hush-hush project in the making.

well. i wasnt necessarily talking about reviews... review tallies of Halo puts in in the high nine range also... Doesnt mean it's great. The press are the worst at accepting hype. Hell read the KZ2 thread on this board. Hit or miss if people like it.

BTW the next time MS releases an actual Halo game maybe Sony and Nintendo should send them a jealous little email promising a phantom title that will crush them.
I must also add of course all games are hit or miss but the great games are more hit than miss and that seems to be the case with Killzone 2. Personally I did not like the demo at all and have no desire to buy the game but the majority of people that have played it say its great. Therefore although the game may not be great from what I've experienced but taking into account what makes a game great (popular appeal) it appears that it is.Get Up And Go and muscle979 like this. -

Also I'll take shots at any of these companies but MS's cockiness gets under my skin a bit for a company who overall puts out substandard products. -

I'll buy a 360 when they get dirt cheap. I can't pay 300+ for a console that will break. No game is worth that to me. Buying a product with such a high likelihood of breaking just seems foolish. The warranties won't last forever. We're now a little over three years into the 360s life cycle. Will Microsoft continue extending warranties? What if longtime 360 owners continue having problems? I don't think it's safe to say this problem is over. -
and as far as console wars that flair up all the times.. The only think I know is The controler of the 360 feels a **** load better in my hands, and I have yet to think, ah damn, I can't play that game. sure there are some popular games that might be ps3 only, but none that caught my attention.
and again.. im just an average guy.... not hardcore gamer in anyway.
Edit: Stand corrected God of war 3 will probably make me think that..peastri likes this. -
Oh now I see the edit.
They both have a large selection. Personally I don't play enough to need the extras that the 360 brings. If it didn't break so much I probably would have already bought one. Being that it does I'm going to wait to get one a bit cheaper.peastri likes this. -
i disagree...i think the ps3 has sold on hype for the most part...especially in the beginning touting "only true hd 1080p games" and "zomg cell power" ...
it's a great media machine...i love it for blu rays and streaming media to my tv -

What a copout. Do you work for Microsoft? They made a piece of equipment on a large scale that was faulty. Much more so than their competitors. You are honestly claiming you know how much PS3 owners use their consoles b/c of how many games they buy? Surely you're kidding. -
-
And no I wasn't "happy" to have my 360 break down on me (especially when I forgot my hotmail id and password and couldn't retrieve my account/gamertag) my point was that Microsoft knew there was a common problem and countered it. There's no doubt in my mind Sony is aware of their faulty blu-ray drives but they've done nothing about it.
The fact that they both only have 1 year warranties speaks volumes for what even the creators thought of their life spans  They just don't make them like they used to. My original NES still works, never had a problem with that  -

oh...
ps3's get the YLOD
thats right...yellow light of death...and it's popping up all over
especially the launch 60gb's...which i have :(
you won't be totally screwed I think you just have to pay sony like $150 to fix it -
FWIW I have had 3 360s die iirc.
-
I was having a discussion about this with my cousin (who has developed games for both systems at this point in his career) and he said "well, think about it, the average person uses their 360 more than any other console ever made at this point." and he's right. there are several million people playing call of duty and halo 3 on xbox live, still, everyday, for hours at a time. No system was built to be running for as long the 360 runs. This will lead to overheating, which is the problem. The 360s 'faulty' tech probably has something to do with Microsoft underestimating how well xbox live would take off. Part of the reason 360s die so often is because people are playing them into the ground.
If i am a fan, it's of Nintendo. Mainly cause the Wii in every regard was a financial risk in every way, and after the gamecube failed to gain a large audience, i thought Nintendo was done. But they still had the balls to do it, so it's nice to see them be rewarded for being different while the other two were just worried about how powerful their systems were. (or, bigger **** syndrome)
And this thread is even more proof of that. Killzone 2 is a great looking game, but it plays like many other games we've already played before. So what does Microsoft do? they tell us they're going to make an even better looking game. Me, personally, i don't care which one looks better, i just want a game that's fun. (not saying killzone isn't or any other game, but Microsoft and Sony should be pumping how much fun their games are to play, not to look at) -
