My only one. As always, there are WTF picks I put in. Gotta make it more interesting since I hate these things.
Quick thoughts -
1. Cam Newton to Carolina seems a bit obvious right now. He is very talented but needs a lot of learning. I am familiar with Chudzinksi's system, I know a lot of his pass concepts, I know he has a ton of shifts and motions but I expect him to dial that down a little.
2. Jake Locker to Washington is very likely IMO.
3. NE is really hard to figure out. They need help all over the place. They don't usually take OL high because they do a good job coaching them and get them late but they need someone at RT because Vollmer will move over to LT I assume.
4. I just realized I left off Mark Ingram. It just happened to end up like that. He could go to GB at 32 IMO. I slotted Wilkerson because he's a better fit and a bigger need IMO.
5. Flame away. :)

Robert Quinn over Aldon Smith?!?!?!
You Sir, are a HACK!
:D
A side note though Alen do you notice that the Top 32 names are all more or less settled? As a consensus has formed..or has it?
I suspect the Pats surprise everyone and go Dline alen, as Belicheck's Glory Days featured a Dline that was loaded and they have not really restocked the Seymour's and Green's as of yet and they have Wilfork to build around and Ron Brace has been a disappointment imho. -
FWIW I also do not see the Jets going OLB early as Ryan has not developed OLB/DE types his history is to find Vets who can quickly step in an contribute and start, with so few draft picks they will need more production out of their #1 pick imho.
Bills are nutty, they like Athletes but have no real vision for them, Maybin and Spiller are great athletes who have not really contributed, they remind me of the Cardinals prior to Whiz showing up in the desert..great athletes taken with high picks. -

Interesting to see Aldon Smith falling that low, though personally I wouldn't be shocked - I have personally mocked him a bit low as well.
All indications seem to be that Zona is going to pass on a rookie QB, which might really have a big effect if it's true. Bowers' status is totally up in the air right now, as is Ingram's. I can't disagree with much of this mock, once of the better ones out there I think.
Lockers fits the Shannahan mold of QBs, and therefore I think that pick - while surprising - makes a ton of sense. He likes tough, athletic and mobile QBs who are good on the run and rolling out. Locker fits that much better than Mallett. Perhaps the Mallett rumors are about drumming up interest for a possible trade down.
*edit* Really like the Dallas OL pick with Smith. I think Peterson would be target 1, but if he is gone I think they go OL with that pick, even over Prince. They desperately need help for Romo along that OL.alen1 likes this. -
If the Jets land Reid, I'll be pissed. I'm praying they get Taylor and he only plays two seasons.

I almost feel like we're going to end up going with a LB: Aldon Smith, Ayers, or Brooks Reed. Even though I think #15 is a little high for the latter two.
Edit: Or even Kerrigan, as we've taken a Big Ten player in the 1st round every year so far. I don't much care for him myself though. -
Me on draft day: “Mike Pouncey? WTF?”
Good mock, Alen. -
Great mock Alen, I would be a tad suprised to see Carimi drop that far but ya never know. i too had no RB's in the 1st round in my mock....I think its quite possible.
Good read bro. -
I think that's a pretty good mock that makes sense. I like the Locker to Washington pick. Someone will fall in love with this kid b/c of the type of person/player he is much like McDaniel did with Tebow.
IMO Bowers goes top 10, but that's my only gripe..... and I could see a team trading up to get him. That's what I'm putting in my mock anyways. lol. TB swapping with Washington wouldn't surprise me considering how well the Bucs drafted last year, so they may feel they can sacrifice a pick and still do very well. Jax wouldn't surprise me either.
I also think we'll see Dallas jump to 5 or 6 if Peterson is still there.
I could also see Indy swapping with us to ensure they get the LT they covet due to the teams drafting immediately before them.
Last, I believe we'll see either Buffalo, Cincy, Zona, or Tenn trade into the late first to ensure getting the 2nd tier QB they desire. -

And I don’t see much meaning when you say that I can’t view prospects purely as players. That seems like a distinction without a difference. You’re getting a football player for a specific length of time defined by a contract. What he does during that period of time determines whether the pick was good or bad. Pouncey and Watkins will both probably sign 5 year contracts. I’d rather have Watkins over the next 5 years than Pouncey. -
How do you not see much meaning? You can draft a guy just because he's talented but that doesn't mean you're getting a guy who is a good character, for example. Its easy to put the character grades aside and draft top talent. There's a reason why teams have two separate draft grades for players, one for overall talent, one for character. Way back before Rich McKay took over a horrific Tampa Bay team, teams were not caring much about character and other stuff; they were hell bent on getting talented players. Then McKay came in, put in his system, which changed the thinking of 70/30 talent to character ratio to 60/40 or in McKay's case, 40/60.Stitches likes this. -
In the absence of character issues, which neither Pouncey or Watkins have to my knowledge, then I think it’s silly that we’re talking about drafting at #15 a guy who’s inferior to a player who’ll be taken at, say, #30-35. Both are going to sign the same length of contract, so the age factor is irrelevant to me: Watkins at the end of his contract is still going to be young enough to play football effectively, and then you draft his replacement. That’s not a waste.
And the Bengals’ problems stem from a lack of a dedicated scouting department. They take risks on character because they don’t know enough about the players to say “You know what, we can just get Player Y who’s just as good without the problems.” -
Yes, the scouting department is the problem in Cincinnati. It doesn't excuse them from being idiots and not doing their job right.Fin-Omenal likes this. -

5 yrs is an eternity in NFL time.
Name that sticks out to me concerning Watkins is Nick Kaczur and oddly enough, both were Canadian Football players. -
Besides, my objection is couched in a massive if.
