I'm guessing they did this with every other team that had rollover room from last year... does this actually help or hurt us? any info on what all the other teams are getting?

 

I was wondering the same thing, specifically the teams that are in the QB hunt with us.

 

Bell is in the last year of his contract with a salary of 4,300,000. His cap hit is 5,800,000. IMO he isn't worth that. Cutting him would give us room to help sign Reggie Nelson, and then move Clemons to SS, unless we can draft George Iloka.

 

I don't think it's right to sign a big free agent linebacker like Williams or anyone, unless you pay the elite player at the position that you already have on your team that is ready for a new deal, also Paul Solai's agent has said that Jeff Ireland has told him that Paul Solai is a huge priority to resign..Which is encouraging.

 

Bush and Long are in their contract years... All we could do is extend them.

 

Also, I agree with that old man about Chris Clemons, {smart old man that Mr C} I think he would be a very good in the box safety, I look forward to Coyles recognizing and playing him at the position that suits his skillset, range, aggressive nature for the tackle, speed.

Having a hard time believing Washington going to be so far under the cap. Not that I don't believe you Jcouch1021, but aren't they famous for all the big/overpaid FA signings?

 

Washington's huge cap room could make it all the more encouraging to sign Manning and then possibly use their first on Tannehill which could be an alternative to giving up a lot of picks for Griffin. Then if Cleveland can get Flynn w/o having to sacrifice their 2 1sts, that could really open the door for us for Griffin.

Reggie Nelson & re-signing Soliai would be a win offseason for us IMO..... (with Bell dumped and Clemons moved to SS as Deej alluded).

I'd also pursue Eddie Royal who'd likely be an ideal fit in a Packer-esque offense.
Look at the WRs GB has. Athletic & quick/fast for the most part. Royal would be our Cobb so to speak, only more experienced. Look at the success Jennings has when moved to the slot in that offense. He burned us for a TD from it. You'll never see that happen from Bess.

 

I'd like to see Henne go to NY and put Snachez's butt on the bench.

 

If I am thinking of the same guy out of Boise, I thought the opposite. For his size his calves looked like he had some chicken legs.

 

He would be the perfect non-upgrade.

Check his quads though. I know from following bodybuilding years ago, that black men often have disproportionately small calves. It doesn't effect their lower power. Robby Robinson was a great bodybuilder who could have beaten Arnold back in the day, except Robby had these small calves that no matter how much he focused on them, couldn't gain proportionate size. With his huge quads the calves looked even smaller. Robby wasn't the exception among the black bodybuilders either. Several of the big names were hampered by their small calves. Proportion is a big deal when judging the contestants.

Two DBs I really want this draft, Iloka and Dennard. Not likely to happen since neither will go later than the 2nd and we wouldn't take either in the top of the 1st. They're good players, but one extra reason why was at the end of the combine workouts for their group of DBs, Peter Giunta the Giants DB coach was giving the group a sort of advice/pep talk about what was coming up for them, things to do and not do, etc. Standing right at the front of the group focusing intently on what Giunta was saying, were Iloka and Dennard. I don't think Dennard even blinked once while Giunta was talking and both were looking directly at him the entire time. Some of the others looked bored or were looking down, looking off into space, etc. But I was impressed by how seriously Dennard and Iloka appeared to be listening to Giunta.

Iloka stands out in his combine group because of his height/weight. He's a giant compared to the rest of the DBs in that group. 6'4 and 225. DB24, hair short on the sides and spiked up a little on the top, sort of what we called a Mohawk when I was a lad, I don't know what you call them now.

The most muscular DB I noticed was the Stanford safety, Delano Howell. He's 5'11" and 210 and has arms and quads that are huge. DB22, so he was often just ahead of Iloka in drills and such.
Duke Ihenacho was DB23 and he goes 6'0 and 213, and was immediately ahead of Iloka and may have been the 2nd biggest safety in the group. Or at least big enough, maybe you could mix him up with Iloka if not paying close attention.

Sometimes I see people who otherwise look like they've never been in a weight room in their lives, except they have huge well defined muscular calves. And, I think WTF? What the heck did they ever do to deserve those calves?
