Bleacher says we are #8 on this list:
http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2711007-nfl1000-ranking-every-nfl-receiving-corps
I think there are some jockeying to do and maybe we can be 6th. Chargers have a ton of injury issues and Rivers is on a decline. These rankings show us the NFL is aware what is brewing in Miami

No offense, but it's a BS list. The Pats do not have the best receiving corps in the league- if they did, we wouldn't have been the only ones who knew who Hogan was in the playoffs. The Pats are ranked #1 in that poll because of Brady...who isn't a part of the receiving corps.
I would argue with anyone that we have the best receiving corps in the league. Take the Raiders, for instance. Great receiving corp with great speed, but their roster has very little versatility. Miami has specialists that can beat you many different ways, and at the end of the day I'd take that any day of the week. But like others have said, we need a deep playoff run for people to really see why our receiving corp is so special.Puka-head, Dol-Fan Dupree, Tin Indian and 1 other person like this. -
No WR core can attack all three levels like we can, especially if Parker keeps improving.Tin Indian and KeyFin like this. -
I think our Corps CAN be tops in the league. But you're hoping Parker develops. What do we have at TE if Julius does his annual injury report visit. Landry is the shiznit. I LOVE Stills. The way we become #1 is when Tanny throws for 300 ypg or so.
The Raiders Crabtree operates pretty well close and intermediate. Amari Cooper
Is nice. But who else.
I like Tampa. I might like them the most in the league except for TE and Brate isn't that bad. Evans and Desean might be the best pair in the league. Humphries is more than capable from the slot. What can we do that they can't?Last edited: May 31, 2017Steve-Mo likes this. -
You forgot the Bucs drafted their TE, OJ Howard and that will be a scary offense, especially if Doug Martin is back 100%.jdang307 likes this. -
I think the experts put pats in the #1 category on all passing related rankings like offense and receivers because of the qb.

EH. I like to see us int he top ten of anything so from that standpoint, it's a great list. Our WR corps is only ever going to be as good as T-Hill is at getting it to them and our OL is at buying T-Hill time blah blah. But, I think T-Hill is DEFINITELY on the way up so we should see exactly how good our WR's are this year. Boatloads of promise and I'm excited as we never had a great WR corp since Clayton and Duper (had great dingle WR's like OJ but never a wowee corp maybe you could argue Shula's last year with Irving Fryar and team.
This list gets me more thinking about Fantasy Football then thinking about the Phins. I'm totally taking Matty Ice or Rothlesburger now that Bryant's back in... -
Agreed. Whether you're 1 or 10 doesn't matter they're alll dependent on the QB still. Our WRs are good enough and can we great but that will depend on Tanny.
I'm not sold on TE even though I like julius Thomas. If he can stay healthy I really like him. He was misused in jax. -

Edelman, Hogan and Amendola, individually or as a group, would almost certainly not be as productive on virtually any other NFL team. Take them off the Patriots and put them on random team X with a different coaching staff, and its likely bust city. -
It doesn't matter how they would be on another team. On the patriots, in that system, with whatever advantages they are gaining, they are dominant.
None of the receivers in NE are dominant receivers, though.danmarino likes this. -
I spelled "cheating" as "whatever advantages they are gaining." Haha.
Their system is short quick passes, to receivers who are quick burst guys. Now, I think it works so well because of their advantages... but, you can't argue that their receiving corps is pretty damn dominant.danmarino likes this. -
His rookie year he won routes against DBs like no other and ranks very well when it comes to separation vs DBs
As for just wideouts no TE as I saiid I really like Tampa Bay. Evans is so beastly. Then you add Desean Jackson? -
Yeah, obviously Gronk is dominant. I was referring only to "receivers" with that word. I know the article was talking about all the potential receiving options, including tight ends. But, Edelman, Amendola, etc are not dominant.

Tanny + gase and our 8th ranked corps can be the best at the end of the year. There are only so many WR targets to go around. You can't have 3-5 studs. There just aren't enough passes to go around.
Edelman isn't dominant, and he wouldn't have the same success unless he's on the Packers or with another great QB. I mean, we saw the same with Welker.
But to say he's a scrub as someone alluded to earlier, is a bit much. Dude is super quick. He doesn't drop a lot of passes (3.1% which is good, not great, but good). Great shuttle and cone numbers.Steve-Mo likes this. -

It would sort of be like of Carroo or Grant hung around on the team without doing much on offense, and then suddenly broke out in 2020 to have huge numbers.jdang307 likes this. -

I like Doug Farrar. I agree with him often.
But I don't think our receiving corp is better than Dallas, Seattle, or Pittsburgh.
Our TE situation is a big question mark, and none of our WR threats can match the impact of Antonio Brown, or Dez Bryant, yet. Here's hoping Devante Parker can be that red zone terror... -

Without reading every post in this thread, I'm simply going to say this...
If you can't RUN the ball, I don't care how "good" your receiving corps is, you're only going to go so far. If your offense can't force the defense to keep 7 in the box out of respect for your running attack and they're dropping 5 and 6 to cover your receivers, you're going to have a bad season.
I've said it a thousand times, the key to being able to pass the ball lies in the running game and despite our difficult schedule this season, I have a feeling we're poised with Ajayi to give Tannehill a great season.
I just don't see that in some of the other teams listed ahead of us on that list.
