It's not that I don't think we need a true #1 (or one of the guys to step up to that level) it's that I feel that there are more important positions we could improve on.

 

How is his job in jeopardy before there is even a WR acquired?

I highly doubt we get Boldin since he is not a FA, and where exactly will this instant #1 WR come from?. Rarely does a rookie WR come in and be the #1 as a rookie.

I also can't understand why you would not want Ginn out there instead of Cam. Especially considering Cam is coming off an injury which takes most players a year or more to come back from 100%.

I am one of the few who doesn't believe in the idea of "a legit #1" wide reciever. I have this weird idea that football is a team sport and if you find people who fit the system that is more important than finding a "#1" guy or a "true" something or even a "dominate" something else. I believe those are mostly catch phrases fans use.

What I saw last year was a passing offense that worked. Pennington became a qb who only Dan Marino threw more passing yards as a Dolphin.

Not to say that I do not want to see Miami upgrade the offense. I would like a more bigger man who can be used in goal line and short yardage and/or can also be someone who strikes a little fear in the opposing defense. Either they can bring in a new guy or hope against hope and wish against wish that London becomes that guy. He showed some flashes last year.

Still if they can get an amazing game changer type reciever that people call, "Legit #1", I would be down for it.

I would still want Ginn to play opposite of him most of the time due to the fact Ginn demands attention. Last year Ginn proved to be a deep threat who openned up the middle of the field. Safties had to worry about him and stacking the box was less of a good idea due to the fact he can catch good enough and has enough speed to make a defense pay. Defenses HATE giving up 30 yard plays. Ginn can provide such a thing. So it is my belief that if a better wide reciever is added to Miami's offense then the offense would be more explosive with Ginn.

The beauty though is that Miami would have a legitimate 3 wide reciever combo if they had Ginn, Bess/Camarillo and third good wide reciever.

 

IF we get Demarcus Ware then that MIGHT make Joey Porter's job in jeopardy. So what?

I wouldn't. I would want Ginn in there because Camarillo and Bess isn't going to scare teams with their deep play ability.

He can't "do anything" if the ball doesn't go his way.

Cam was a consistent target because he ran the "safe" routes.

How many drops did Cam have on the year? How about Ginn?

Care to tell me how Ginn is incapable of forcing a fumble?

 

Problem is, YOU might not want Ginn out there over Cam, and Bess, but he would be for many reasons.

Yes Cam was great up until his injury, but even Cam himself said Ginn drawing so much attention from the defense helped him get one on one allowing him to get more catches.

Do i think Ginn is a legit #1 WR as of today? no. do i think he can become one? absolutely. Do i think we have to go out this offseason and grab a legit #1? no. wouldnt mind it, but our WR corp as whole is good. we dont have Arizonas WR Corp, no. but ours is still pretty good. plus to go along with 2 pretty good recieving TEs and 3 RBs that are pretty good out of the backfield, catching the football is not a problem.

 

Toomer is not a #1.

TJ might get franchised.

Boldin is not a FA.

The #1's like you are talking about typically don't hit FA for nothing.

 

#1 they would never attempt that pass with Cam because there is no WAY he can get deep on Ed Reed.

#2 he was running full speed and the ball was thrown 5 yards inside. There is no reciever who would of been able to make a playon that ball, even Fitz. Maybe he could of stayed on his feet to make the tackle. A good pass though, and that could of been a touchdown

Ginn and Camarillo are two different receivers. Ginn isn't as good as Camarillo in route running or going over the middle, however Camarillo is NEVER going to be a deep threat.

Take the flea flickers against the Seahawks and the Jets. Camarillo cannot make those plays.

 

Which is why I would want Bess in the slot in a 3 wide reciever set. With Ginn and the new guy on the outside.

 

Any person with eyes saw that he was tripped by the corner back to cut across behind him. And, as far as hustle, Ginn got up from the ground and beat Ed Reed down the field after the interception.

I guess he showed no instinct when he came back for teh ball in between two defenders against the Jets or when he ever so slightly pushed off the cornerback to create separation for his TD catch against the Jets. Yeah no instinct at all.

Aside from that, on Reed's TD it sure looked like Ginn hustled to make a play as he tried to take on Ngata who was blocking in front of Reed. You make it sound like he walked to the sideline after the ball was picked off.

 

I disagree. . we need a second pass rusher to compliment Porter who, only has a couple of good years left in the Tank. . I have to say I like the idea of Bart Scott as no way the Ravens can hold onto the 3 guys they have so i figure Scott will be the one to go. . can you imagine Porter and Scott. . wow. .Roth is ok but needs work yet he and Crowder were both mediocre. .

As for a #1 WR well we do need a deep threat player and maybe Housh can offer that but he again only has a couple of years left now and he will likely want more than we should offer. Besides the WR corps , although not great are adequate. What we need is to focus on the interior line busting open holes for Ronnie and Ricky to exploit. We have Fasano; Martin, Cobbs, Ginn, Bess, Camarillo who can all catch the ball and will do for now. . imho

We need to sort out the Pass rush and our secondary on D. .
They say Defense wiins Championships. . lets get that right 1st. . then focus on the interior O line getting a run game going in some good bus lanes and the pass game will almost take care of itself with the talent we currently have. . although as I said a deep threat player will be needed. .

Well that's a little crazy but that's your opinion. To change the subject, do you believe that he showed any instinct on the two plays that he made against the Jets?

 

regardless, that pass was a wounded duck 5 yards to the inside of ginn. If it was put in its place it should have been 50+ yards, maybe even a TD.

And Cam and Bess don't provide any sort of down field threat. The defense could literally have 10 people in the box every play. Ginn consistently has Safety help rolled over the top of him, that opens things up over the middle for people like Cam and Bess to do their work.

Ginn is progressing well and when Henne is in you guys will be all over his strap...

It really has nothing to do with Tedd Ginn. What is needed is a big, strong, fairly fast Wr with excellent hands. Then the Dolphins will have 4 Wr's capable of starting or taking over drives at any time during a game.

Tedd Ginn is a legit speed threat, and has shown lots of improvement with plenty of room to get better. Having him on the field instantly keeps the FS back where he belongs. Another threat will keep the SS back a lot more as well. It's not really about who is a legit number one. It's more about keeping the secondary where they belong, in the seconday. Instead of stacking the box all the time.

 

Are there concerns about Tedd Ginn living up to his draft spot? Yes.

Having said that, were still at early stages of develoment for the avg. reciever coming into the NFL. Because of that alone I'll reserve judgement on him.
