1. I was dissappointed in Henne. Let me first tell you that I'm a Henne supporter and I think he has the tools and skill set to take us where we want to go. He miss read wide open receivers all day long. There was at least half a dozen times that Marshall was wide open on a deep route. I mean wide open. Henne had a lot of time in the pocket and he gets rid of the ball too quick when there is little or no pressure. Let me put it another way, Marshall was open all day long. Henne has to recognize his horse and feed him.
2. Dan Carpenter is Money. If he would just develope his leg to put the ball about 5 yards deeper he would be the best kicker in the NFL.
3. The Bengals fight song was written by a 2 year old. Seriously it was absolutely the worst song ever written. It only had phrases not actual sentences. I want to thank the Miami D for not allowing them to score again so I wouldn't be subjected to it.
4. Henning called some good plays. The problem watching it on tv is you don't get to see the whole field. I'm telling you Henne checked off his main receivers and checked down when he didn't. Marshall was open all day long. When they through the ball back to Henne on the sweep, Marshall and Hartline were both wide open on the other side of the field- wide open. Henne still made a good throw but to topic #5.
5. Dropped #$@&^# passes! Fasano, Polite and Hartline dropped huge passes on perfect throws.
6. No more Polite out in the flat! Seriously there is no reason. He might catch it but he is going down after a gain of a yard or so.
7. Why is Bess off the field on 3rd down? Why would you take your best third down weapon off the field on 3rd down. I know it happen at least twice but I would want him out there. He is Henne's security blanket.
8. The Bengals had a great home crowd. Its always fun to walk through the other team's home stadium after beating them. It made the cost of the game justifiable and the 7 hour drive home more enjoyable. One of these days I'm going to get to Dolphin Stadium and watch a game.
9. I like that we opened in 3 & 4 wide sets. It gives us a lot more options and leaves a linebacker on a receiver. I'm not sure why Henne didn't look more at that mismatch.
10. The wildcat is a joke. Our line doesn't explode off the ball and teams aren't scared of Ricky and Ronnie. Ricky isn't as fast and Ronnie dances too much. The difference between Cedric Benson's speed and our running back's speed was very obvious.
11. The ball is too fast for Chris Clemons. He should had two ints. yesterday and the last one where he popped the ball up to TO was right in front of me. He is pressing to hard to get the ball in his hands. I hope now that he made one of the biggest boneheaded plays of the year- he relaxes and watches the ball into his hands and slows it down in his mind. However, he made some good plays and he is FAST!!!!!!!
12. What was Bess thinking? I give Bess a pass but it was a stupid play and he would be the first to tell you. He had absolutely no shot at grabbing that ball and you could tell the rest of the game he was scared to field it. When you are at the game, there is just a lot more of the play you can see vs. TV. For some reason, you could see that one coming, I was just hoping that he knocked it out of bounds but it wasn't even close.
Overall, it was a great day for Fin fans that were there representing our team. The weather was perfect and the stadium was incredible for watching the game. I didn't think Ricky got in for the touchdown, but I'm not complaining. The Bengals got all the breaks and if Henne would have looked at Marshall a little bit more it could have been a blow out. We play hard and our team is on the verge of being an elite team.
On thing I don't understand is why they design the stadium to sit like it does because in the second half, half the field was in the shadows. It has to be difficult for the players to see the passes in and out of the sun.

Good stuff though. It sucks not being able to see who's open down field on TV. I've said for years networks are missing the boat by not providing these additional angles. I know it's not all on the networks, the NFL probably has some say, but it really sucks for the fans.mor911 likes this. -
He isn't going more than 2 yards anyway. -
To me, that's by far the most troubling thing you said, and since I'm forced to watch all 16 games over the internet that's not something I'd ever be able to see. The coaching staff has to see it as well though and hopefully those adjustments come. Heck, I saw several deep passes that never should have been thrown....Bess was triple covered that one play and I couldn't believe Henne threw it.
Anyway, thanks for the comments. -

If you read my latest post in DolfanMikes "small box" thread I will tell you what you saw. ;)
That was straight up cover 2 in the "triple covered" Bess throw. And that was Cobbs that was open cause the safety on his side cheated to Bess.
You CAN see alot on TV. You just need DVR, a few clues from player movement, and a knowledge of what you are looking for.GMJohnson likes this. -
I'd be interested to see if he played this way in college. I do think his pocket presence for pressure has gotten better though. -

Yes, I realize that he wasn't drafted in the first. But I remember that fresh off the Ricky Williams retirement saga there was not many teams eager to draft a pothead. -

Woah... I know I mentioned with a different HC/OC we may see a different Henne, but I'm in no way advocating that we do that. I'm quite content with how things are going. I was simply stating, I think we see him taking alot more chances, and trying to force things alot more as well. While it would be good to open things up more, as I said, you have to be willing to take the good with the bad.

was a game to have been won by a greater margin of scoring. many missed opportunities. problems in the red zone.
