I know it doesn't seem possible, but somehow I see this happening. Ireland survives again. Name a situation where you see this happening (with facts, not speculation).

Playoffs.

Playoffs won't be enough. They'd have to have a deep run for him to survive. I'm not even sure he'll make it to then if we somehow get there.
-
-
9-7 and or playoffs.
Crazy league. -
we'd have to go 5-2 from this point on to make the playoffs IMO. it would take a very good effort and we'd have to be a pretty good team to pull it off. If we got there, i think it would prove ireland right.
...i dont see it happening... -
He's a zombie on life support performed by Ross.
-
As far as Ireland goes, to me, it goes far beyond his questionable roster management and lack of finding certain talent in the draft. He's just a douche and doesn't have the success to back it up. People around the league view him as somewhat of a joke. I wanted to give him this season to make or break him, but the offensive line alone should do him in. If the Dolphins rally to make the playoffs, it's because of Philbin and the players. -
not happening
-
The only gm we were overmatched in was NOLA...BUT...good teams win close games.
Eh, we'll see v SD, that will pretty much either sink us, or propel us. -
-
Ross+Goatzes+Pictures=Ireland stays
-
He goes back in time and prevents his own conception. He can lose his job if he never existed to begin with.
-
Playoffs. That will take a small miracle
-
10-6 and a playoff birth. Anything else, he's cooked.
In other words, he's done. -
Playoffs, win a game, Dez Bryant's mother has a presser and says she IS a prostitute and the ******* fan admits he really is an *******.

If he's exonerated in the NFL's investigation, and Philbin suggests a change at GM would likely result in setbacks, to reaching the objectives, as outlined in his three year Boom or Bust proposal.
The signs of steel wool abrasion may be well founded, but the dense teflon polymer is Dupont. -
Hell freezes over.
-
Every other GM candidate is either dead, or Ireland has some really deviantly sexual pictures of him and Ross together?
-
-
If the product on the field turns and the off field issues aren't tied to him, then why should he go?
I'm one of Ireland's biggest detractors, but only because of win/loss accountability.
You can argue talent of the team, what he's dine etc. But the man is looking at 5 STRAIGHT LOSING SEASONS. You can't survive that. You shouldn't habe survived 4.
On the other hand, that all goes away if he can show he's assembled a roster capable of the playoffs...and no involvement in the Martin situation.
Personally? Ireland is gone. -

I don't think there is anything that can happen that will save Ireland's job at this point. Just looking at the on field results, you can tell that Jeff is constantly chasing the game. He's never out in front. Every year under his watch, the team has had major holes that have kept the team from being competitive. This year, it happens to be the OL. Last year, it was the secondary and receivers. Prior to that, it has been the quarterback, etc.
He should be fired based on that alone.
When you add in the fact that he was part of the Dez Bryant thing, part of the chasing the coach without firing your existing coach thing, and now a part of this locker room culture thing, there is no way you can keep this guy.
Jeff Ireland is probably the least popular and most hated personality in Miami Dolphins history, and it would be a slap in the face to every fan (and player from what I've heard) if he is retained.
Really, the only possible way Ireland can gain the fan base is if Miami goes on a run and WINS the Superbowl. Not just get there. Win the thing. The odds of that happening right now have gone up to 150-1.Lee2000 and MonstBlitz like this. -

The most obvious scenario in which Ireland keeps his job is the one where he hasn't been making final decisions. Only real one that I can see, aside from playoffs, which seems extremely unlikely.
-
I could imagine some Planet of the Apes type scenarios where Jeff Ireland survives.

Super Bowl?
I think the more likely question is....will he survive the season?
I hope not. -
He needs to be cleared in Ted Wells' investigation AND the team needs a playoff win.
But I doubt he'll escape responsibility in Wells' report, and this team is on a fast track to staying home in January.
