Whats the difference?

Highlighting the "joe" does two things:
1. It draws attention to the name joe, which makes the gimmick easier to understand.
2. It makes the reader, pronounce "joe" in their head which helps them pronounce the rest correctly as "jokes".
Also, I wonder what it would look like with thinner brackets with a (maybe even a lighter blue for the brackets). I think part of the issue is that the brackets being the same color and almost the same thickness as the letters, it makes the eye want to interpret them as letters.
For example:
To me, this is easier to read and it gets the gimmick across quicker.Tone_E, Steve-Mo, Bpk and 1 other person like this. -

Have you tried losing the brackets and jut going with color as the separator? Might come off cleaner.

Yes! I like that. Clean.

The second. Cuz FinD likes the first one.

The argument that the brackets need to highlight "Joe" is baseless since we read left to right. "Joe" will stand out regardless b/c it's what's read first and b/c it's separated by color. Putting the brackets at the beginning only serves to create confusion b/c it sends the brain into an analytical state trying to figure out what's going on rather than just quickly reading "joe" which could make the reader overemphasize the Joe part to where Joe and kes sound like two words. It flows quicker and better when the brackets are at the tail half b/c the play on words is set up by the reader being able to quickly, smoothly, and easily say & pronounce the first half of jo[kes]... rather than [jo]kes.

Listen to Fin D. He knows what he's talking about when it comes to designs and marketing, and I agree the first one looks better.

Don't like it, personally. Either one.
I'd go either simply Joe's Jokes, Jokes by Joe, The Joeker, or make up some random **** like "Unicorn Popcorn".
Probably the best idea is to name it for the type of humor it will be.. like Break.com (**** you can laugh it on a short break at work), etc. -
