Tyler Thigpen is ahead of Chad Pennington
Patrick Cobbs is ahead of Nolan Carroll as our #1 kickoff return guy.
It's an "unofficial" depth chart from the official site... :shifty:

Wow. Apparently Ricky and Ronny have been relegated to special teams duties and Dan Carpenter is the second string NT.

There are many who claimed and still believe Thigpen could run the wildcat effectively, so maybe that's why he'd be listed at #2 instead of Penny. It's clear Penny is the backup, when he goes in the offense instantly becomes a consistent machine (though the chance of big plays kind of disappear).
It's exactly like when White was #2 over Henne at the start of last season I think.Mcduffie81, Disgustipate, ascii and 2 others like this. -

What I noticed is keeping Grove may mean if Incognito goes down, Berger slides over to LG and Grove plays Center?
Maybe Thiggy picks up the PatCat role?
But what would it be called? "The PigPen?"ascii likes this. -
I think you're spot on with Grove. I think he still is on the line, depending on the waiver wires.padre31 likes this. -
Agreed. Honestly, there really is no wildcat without Ronnie. He just has a talent to run that formation and we're nowhere near as successful with someone else running it. I really hope with Henne in his 2nd year and the addition of Marshall that we can be more consistent out of the base and place less importance on the Wildcat.

The wildcat is our most positive running formation...0 turnovers with about a 5.5 yard average, over a 2 year span...
If it wasn't for a bogus holding call on Fasano, its explosiveness would have been once again identified in the preseason..
With Ronnie brown's specific wildcat skillset, I think this formation should be very relevant in this offense...
If he is taken away from this formation, and the formation is taken away from this offense, I will then really start to question whether or not we have the correct coaching staff.mullingan likes this. -

Yeah, I'm not saying we dump it altogether. I just want to see production out of our base offense too-- utilizing Marshall and for Henne to develop. Ronnie may or may not be back after this season and I believe he's one of only a couple of guys out there who can do what he does from that formation. And I honestly can't name the others. I like the wildcat with Ronnie. It's things in the play calling like Ricky attempting a pass from the one yard line and the wild Pat that bothered me.

Ive heard that stat "0 turnovers out of the WC" alot. Wasnt sure about that one. -
Berger ahead of Grove is the biggest thing I noticed. What are we doing with this? Are we looking to trade him or keep him as a very highly paid back up.

I'm concerned with the special teams... Erik Walden was a beast on ST and we let him go. Patrick Cobbs will never break a huge return. Looks like we're going to be starting from the 20 quite a bit.

If Patrick Cobbs returns the opening kick I'm changing the channel to another game and I won't even lurk the box score.
Every time Fox updates our game I'll mute. -

You know who Sparano is starting to remind me of?
Mike Scioscia from the Angels. Just making dumbfounded decision after decision that cancels something that's overall really good (the starting pitching, the defense etc... vs. our running game and physicality/talent).
Takes a coach above that to get to the next level.High Definition likes this. -
