Even though GB was down 7 starters, a win is a win in this league.
However, now the opportunity presents itself to show ourselves, our fans, and the league that this team is not the same old Dolphins (the ones that bend over and grab their ankles in big games). We have four more games to show that...if we have turned the corner, we'll win those four games.
The first one is this week vs Pittsburgh. The game is at home. Its at 1. The Steelers have Big Ben back, coming off a bye week (or a scrimmage vs Cleveland, whatever). The Steelers are like us...a non playoff team from a year ago, trying to get back. We should have the advantage. All this young talent I keep hearing about. A young QB that people seem to think shouldnt be criticized, and a coach that many want extended. Two great players picked up in FA or trades this offseason. Bring on the Steelers.
If we beat Pittsburgh, we can show the world that we are better than those two disgraceful losses that we had to the Jets and Pats. We can prove that our coach really isnt the moron many of us had him pegged as....and our QB really doesnt suck in big games. If we lose....uh oh.
The other three games that we have to win are the rematches vs NE and NY and Baltimore. Win those games, all is good. Lose them....uh oh. Things will be back to how they were with Wannstedt. And the clamoring for a new coach will have a new intensity.

Had to read this post. Couldn't help myself.
I find it funny how when they lose it's on "them" and when they win "we" won.
Gotta love the usage of "we" in this case especially.
Anyway, back on to the ignore list.
In other news: Dallas/Minesota is a game. Tied 21-21 in the 3rd.Califin, dolfan7171, Fin D and 2 others like this. -
Heres the thing i dont get. We just beat the PACKERS. Many people consider them a top 3 NFC team right now. Rodgers is considered a top 5 QB.
And yet beating them doesn't show we're better than the losses to the Jets and the Pats?
You have to start giving us credit for the games we DO win and stop picking out the hardest game on our schedule and saying "If we don't win that, we're nothing".dolfan7171, AbideN703 and Phinatic425 like this. -

Pittsburgh isnt so bad off.
I wear no rose colored glasses. We have LOTS of issues and we won but easily could have lost numerous times.dolfan7171 and FinFan316 like this. -

The opporunity (maybe you just dont know what that word means, if so, PM me, I can tell you, no problem) is for us to win big games and show that we have changed.
The first opportunity to move us form the "same ol' sorry Dolphins" comes Sunday. Lets hope they take advantage of it.
And if I use a word you dont understand, like opportunity, I have no problem explaining it to you...seriously. -
But a win is a win and I will take it. But it doesnt have anything to do with negating either of those losses. We are still second rate. We can put that designation on hold by beating the Steelers. -

So what your telling me is, you have adopted the Cam Cameron philosophy with your posting?

Well to me this game is setting up like the Jets MNF game did last yr, we had just gotten a huge win against the Bills (no that is not an oxymoron) and the Jets were riding high when they came down to Miami, Cam Wake was coming off of a 2 sack performance vs the Bills and the running game had gotten really going.

Why am I not surprised that credit from the GB win is contingent on beating the best team in the NFL?

I'm not expecting a win, but I'm expecting competition.
If we can be competitive against the Steelers, and show that we're ready to tear through the rest of the games on our slate, I'll walk away from next week pleased.
The Steelers really have been tearing it up out there. However, Ben is only coming in on his second game back. Lets hope there's a bit of rust there. I mean they stomped the Browns over the weekend, but it's the friggin browns.
I am rather worried about that defense of theirs though. -
So it went from "this team is second rate and they suck" to "this team has a chance to turn the corner" in just one week?
This what happens when people make claims irrationally.

Beating GB stands alone. A win is a win. Right now, as I FIRST said (because as Confuclious knows, I get it earlier than most) and now many agree, we are not an elite team. We are second rate.
However, things constantly change. We have a chance. The NFL schedule makers and fate give us the opportunity to move to the elite status. All we have to do is beat the Steelers. They are a non playoff team, just like us. They lost a game at home, just like us. We lost last year to them without Dansby and Marshall. If we made good FA and trades, we should have the advantage. I keep hearing how TS is growing into the job...
What a great, great opportunity for this team. I am excited. Its not often that piss poor second raters get a chance to take control and change their status. The Dolphins have that chance. How could any "True" fan not be excited as hell? Win this game, then all we have to do is beat NE, NYJ and Baltimore. We are basically 25% of the way home. I believe. Do you guys? -

2 of our 3 wins have come against playoff teams from last year, on their turf, against teams that were very heavy favorites to represent the NFC in the superbowl.....
and our 2 losses came from playoff teams in the AFC, both strong favorites to represent the AFC in the superbowl...
but...if we beat the Steelers, who weren't a playoff team...that makes us elite?
Gotcha.MikeHoncho and Killerphins like this. -
Either you're elite or not, you can't be elite dependent on schedule. Who you play, has nothing to do it.
Seriously, you should post here, you'll find more like minded "fans". In fact, you'll probably be their hero.Califin, BlameItOnTheHenne, AbideN703 and 2 others like this. -
IMO Pitt should be favored against Miami this coming week. They have played better over the first 6 weeks of the season. That being said Miami is certainly capable of playing with them and beating them. Miami has shown the talent to play with any team in the league. What Miami hasn't shown is the consistency to be listed with the top teams. Of course, that list of the top teams will change throughout the season. And since Miami has already shown the talent to play with that group its ridiculous to contend that any one game will or will not show what this team will be by the end of the season.
