I was watching Sparano earlier, and he said the team took their one exemption of the year to practice in pads twice this week. I did not realize that teams can only practice once in pads every week. I'm sure this had something to do with bad blocking, missed tackles, and has to have a negative impact on this team. I know it's the same for everyone but, everyone is not the same.
Our OL is a good example. Long had no pre-season, Cog is a very physical player, Pouncey a rookie, Carey a ne position, and Columbo a new player. In the past 3 years, with the revolving OL, we still managed to gel quickly and block pretty well. Not so this year. I would think others are affected as well.

No, I tend not to think that is the issue SB, after all Pouncey is playing just fine and he is a Rook.
I do think what has happened is the players took the extra time off (especially the defensive players) and got soft, but this is week #10 of football action including Camp, they should be in shape now, the real problem has been ILB/FS/Cb not knowing their assignments. -
I agree with you on the D Padre. However, I can see some having needed more practice in pads to get ready, and they did not get it.
It's not just been us. I can't recall so many missed tackles, missed blocks, and being out of position by the league as a whole. -
-Dansby was moved to the Mike ILB to replace Crowder, Dansby has never played the Mike before
-Burnett was inseted at the Moe ILB, where he has not played, and he has to learn Nolan's system, he has never played in it before
-Free Safety ideally will get everyone lined up, oops, we have Now Show Jones at FS
-Vontae's hammy made him ineffective for the first two weeks, so they rested him and inserted Nolan Carrol, who has not started, and his immaturity means they cannot flip Cb, just like what happened in 2009.
Coupled with the normally excellent De's being out of shape, and we have the perfect storm of crappiness on Defense.
On offense, Colombo has been dreadful, Carey learning OJT and Sparano is refusing to sub in guys like Garner or Cook, Bush dinged his groin, and DTrain his hammy, and suddenly our 4 deep Rb corps is down to Lexxy (whom Sparano refuses to chances to touch the ball) and Slaton, who was a street FA.
The Bye week came at a perfect time for us, no other way to put it.Disnardo, Rhody Phins Fan and Southbeach like this. -
I can't put this on the coaches. They had no idea how practice would change until the new CBA was signed.
I have a question for anyone who played football. You wear equipment, which weighs 25-30 pounds. If you only get to practice with that additional weight once a week, how, if at all, does that does that affect you on game day? I would have to think it would but, do not know for sure. -
So this rule effects us in a negative way but not all the other teams. Nah. We just suck.

This is what I posted if you had read the OP. :) -
However, our DL haven't done their job either of making plays...only 6 sacks (Wake 3, Mitchell 1, Taylor 1, Jones 1)...not a single sack from our DL making the Dolphins the only team that doesn't have a sack from a member on the DL. -
31 other teams play with this same rule and do just fine
-
This is one of the reasons why I'm witholding judgment until after the Broncos game, they will have had these guys since August, through late October, if he has not produced what he set out to produce, it is time for Coach Sparano to go after the season. -
-
-
And the way I see it, the next two games are for the season, the last 3 pretty much are where Sparano will have to show he can win important games, in Buffalo, in NE, and Jest at home. -

Every team in he NFL had the exact same "New Practice Rules".
They are one game away from quitting. -
-
If they stick with Sparano, and take their lumps, he can be fired in the offseason as is the normal course of business, which it seems to me to be what Ross wants. -
-
Not even if Shula were to come back as the interim coach would it make a difference. He would run these spoiled princesses into the ground and it would cause them to have no energy left to play on Sunday.

Win or lose. -

No rule has affected this team. However, one thing has had a direct effect on this teams practice and that is the practice bubble.
The team was well conditioned and tougher before Saban brought the bubble. We never used to be out conditioned. Now we are as bad as a dome team when we play outside. -
For me, this is just common sense. All teams and players are not the same. Some needed the extra time, which they did not get this year. -

This is a badly coached team with a severe lack of talent overall. That is the problem with the Dolphins. Not the new practice rules implemented with the new collective bargaining agreement.DeDolfan likes this.
