i think we should have him hold the ball for "field goals." then every so often he could get up and run with it, or throw it.
im sure he could get to the outside and turn it up field for a 1st down with no trouble.
maybe have him run one way, and the kicker run the other, or have the kicker block anyone that gets to the back field, and have a blocker peel off for a pass. if he gets pressure before the LOS he could throw it to who ever is on the other side.
i know this is highly unlikely, but c'mon. how hard could it be to train some one to catch the snap and hold the ball for a field goal?
this would be an awesome weapon to have if we are short of the first down in the red zone, or if we want to go for two after a TD.

the only issue i could see with that is teams would know what was going on.
i like the idea but it would be obvious.dolfan7171 likes this. -
Can we at least wait until Pat White learns how to play the QB position. :wink2:

You mean change the holder for our kicker who has almost been perfect all year? Just so we can maybe get a first down on one play? Not the best idea in my opinion

does a new role imply there is an old role?
I know he is on the pay role & roster,
but he's not established himself
as a player as of yet, as far as I can see.
(I say: play the guy & let's have a look @ Pat Turner while we're at it.) -

the madden comment is funny but i dont even have the game or play it. this is more inspired by seeing some team do something similar last weak in the highlights. and us getting fooled by two fake punts in the first jets game.
special teams are almost given plays. everyone is expecting the same thing to go down. there is no surprise. a little surprise can make a big difference. special teams plays are like break time.
seriously, we all know how a little misdirection can go along way.
the wild cat offense. having two runners in motion and the defense never knowing who has the ball until they actually see it AND THEN react to it.
do you all remember the first game the wild cat was unveiled? ronnie brown ran for 4 TDs and thew a pass to Fasano for another TD.
the end around plays we have pulled off.
the reverses.
the flea flicker with patrick cobbs a few times last year.
tedd ginns two kick off returns to sweep the jets. two big specials teams plays gave us the win in a game where we had about 104 yards of total offense.
teddy had to fake one direction to set everyone up and clear out one side of the field for himself to run to NFL history.
our kick returns have been a little weak. do you guys remembering seeing misdirection with fake hand offs on kick returns?
the play action pass? QB's fake a hand off to make defenders hesitate for a Fraction of a second.
when your opponent doesnt know what to expect, you have an advantage.
whats the major down side?
we would have to have him hold the kicks more then just the times we attempted something.
how critical is place holder for a kicker? how hard could it be to work some one in? i think the risk/reward is worth it. or atleast can the the place holder we use now throw a pass 10 yards? seriously who couldnt do that?
it doesnt have to be pat white, but he is the most dangerous person for the job.
one or two big plays can change the outcome of a game. your team can dominate an entire game and lose it on 1-2 plays. cough2TDdropsbyginnagainstindycough
or you can get dominated for an entire game and come out with a victory because of 1-2 plays. such as ginn running back two kick offs to give us the sweep.2k5 likes this. -

Kick returns have been weak? Not since we put Ginn back on returns.
I'll give you one dropped TD in the Colts game...and even thatbis generous, as it should have been PI.

and LMAO at you giving me one drop in the colts game. how about you give yourself some sense. tedd ginn had his HANDS on TWO passes IN the END ZONE. he DROPPED them BOTH. -
you cant blame people for wanting to see him used in some way. he has the potential to make things happen. im not trying to "reinvent" him. just trying to think of a way to help the team put up more points. he just happens to be the best option on the roster for anything like this.
maybe thigpen could do it too, but he is the number 3 QB and wont be on the game day active roster unless he is brought in to replace henne if something were to happen. i hear thigpen can run it too. but im sure he isnt half the run threat that pat white is. -
Pat White needs to captain the WC & get his playing time in this year
-
The whole purpose of the "wildcat" offense, was to put 2 of your best players on the field at the same time, to "open-up" the Offense. Now that Ronnie Brown is out for the season, for the 2nd time of his career, it becomes a moot point.
In other words, the Dolphins can now abandon the "wildcat" or at the very least, scale it down 1 or 2 plays a game.

Also, when we were running the fakes on returns, Ginn WAS NOT the return man. Once we put Ginn back there AS THE RETURNER, our return game has gotten way better.
You can keep on hating on one player if it makes you feel better to think that he is the reason that we lost any game this season.

Well, I wouldn't call the Colts game a "bad performance" since he had over 100 yards receiving.
I'm not making it a Ginn thread...I'm pointing out things that I think are wrong in your analysis. You said our returns "have been weak." They were weak cause we had Cobbs returning. You said Ginn dropped to td's against the Colts. I pointed out thtlat he had his hands on one. Don't post BS and I won't post how you're wrong.

when i was talking about the weak returns, i was using it as an exmple of how the coaches used a little misdirection in order to help our weak performance. it was a supporting argument. not a bash on ginn. you are still not grasping that.
and dont forget that cobbs wouldnt have been on returns if ginn wasnt under-performing on them in the first place. -
He needs to play in the Wildcat and run early and often.
Has he ever even been tried in the true "Wildcat" with the Ricky motion? All I've seen is the option. He needs to try that as it stands a great chance at taking advantage of blitzing CBs. -
-
I think you're right & his entrance w/ a PatPackage to run out of the WildCat
is extremely important for development & evaluation purposes.
Could also be what we need to give us a push over the top in midst of so many injuries.
Would also like to see Pat Turner get a shot @ WR against the Bills.
