I like it, I've watched about 5 episodes I think. There are a lot of good characters in the show, I think it has a lot of potential. Futurama was incredible but I think it went as far as it could go.

I watched the first episode of The Rookie on ABC, and didn't care for it. I like Nathan Fillion a lot, to the extent that hes one of a very small group of celebs I follow on social media. The show had looked like a light hearted dramady, focusing on him being cool and charming as a 40 something rookie cop. Hyjinks ensue.

In reality, its a very serious show, where most of the characters are pretty angry at one another most of the time, with only a few moments of comedy here and there. My wife wants me to give it one more episode before I give up, so I'll check out next week too. Hopes aren't high.

Hey Cuch, I’ve got 3 great mini-series to put atop your watchlist. Found all 3 to be super binge worthy. You should know halfway through episode 1 of each whether or not you’re hooked. The first two series are foreign (Belgium, Spain), but don’t let the substitles deter you one bit.

    1. Hotel Beau Sejour (Netflix). Kinda like a cross between The 6th Sense and The Killing.

    2. Elite (Netflix). A very mature high-school drama/mystery/thriller about the downward spiral of all parties involved when 3 underprivileged teens receive scholarships to the elitist’s private school. About actions and consequences. The writing, the characters, the acting, all top notch. It focuses on teens but is adult oriented, and the teen characters are played by early 20 something actors so that much the content can be TV-MA. Binged all 8 episodes in 2 nights.

The Bodyguard (released on Netflix next week, the 24th I think). Intense, gripping, fast-paced crime/drama/thriller. Premium modern BBC police series. Has a bit of a Luther/Shadow Line feel to it.

I wasn't a huge fan of Bodyguard to be honest, too many implausibilities for me for what was meant to be a serious drama. Don't get me wrong, it was entertaining enough and was fast-paced, but I kept finding myself shouting at the screen "why would they do that/that wouldn't happen" and that reduced my enjoyment somewhat.

Just watching Killing Eve on the BBC here at the moment, and know it was shown on BBC America first, and really enjoying it. Dark and funny.

Finished watching Ozark season 2 the other night, and loved it, even better than the first season.

There were a few things I questioned.... but was ultimately ok with it b/c it was needed to move the story where it was trying to go.

You would love Manifest. As it is the new Lost. Though I have only seen one episode of Lost or so. In my life.

I've seen every episode of Manifest, and its not living up to expectations for me. The episodes have heavily focused on one family, with only small glimpses into the lives of the other passengers. I was hoping it would be much more of an ensemble drama where lots of interlocking pieces come together. So far, thats not the case. It deals with their feelings much more than the mystery/main plot. I was hoping for something along the lines of the short lived but highly excellent Flash Forward from a few years back, but it doesn't come close so far.

I finished the first "season" of Disenchantment tonight, and that one I give high marks. It started pretty good, and then kept getting better as the season went on. If you like Futurama/Matt Groening humor, you should enjoy it. Plus, as a plesant surprise, the episodes are all directly connected and sequential, with a running plot that goes throughout, even if you don't realize it at first. I'm glad its been extended for three more years.

Escape at Dannemora on Showtime is fantastic thus far. Benicio Del Toro is his usual impact self..... and Paul Dano is great...... but Patricia Arquette really steals the show. My goodness she delivers a performance for the ages. Pretty immersive, gripping drama.

Penny Dreadful fans can look forward to a reboot of the series next year. It won't be a continuation of the Victorian monsters reinterpretations but instead will center in Los Angeles in the 1930s and deal with a battle between Mexican demons and saints. Probably won't be as good as the original but worth a look.

I had the original series as a top five of the new era tv shows along with Vikings, Game of Thrones, Banshee and Boardwalk Empire

DC universe is a subscription service, so unlikely many have seen the content. I originally subscribed to check out some of the old animation and comic books that come with it, but have been really enjoying the new Titans show. little darker that I'd expect from this series, but the characters are growing on me a lot.

I've tried some of the foreign film stuff with subtitles, but find it too hard to stay glued to the screen to catch everything while enjoying the show. I don't like Teen films either. Can't relate. lol...

I do like the British Cop Drama. Really enjoyed Endeavor.

Watched the KnightFall Series about the Templars. Was pretty decent apart from the matrix/ninja highjinx with the Saracens and some really unnecessary stuff with the Queen in which you just end up fast forwarding thru after a while. The ending blowed on many levels. Was some Ancient Aliens conspiracy/speculation type stuff.

Currently watching the Roman Empire Series. All new respect for Caesar and his rise to fame, along with a better understanding of why he was murdered by the Senate. Will start the Netflix Troy Series soon.

I've watched eight episodes of Lost in Space in Netflix. There's a lot of good to be had. The show's production quality is sky high, on par with a mid tier major Hollywood movie. Not only are the special effects as good as you could hope for, but the practical effects are extremely well done and give the viewer a total sense of immersion. They've basically built a non-functional space ship that they film on, and fully functional space trucks that the characters drive around on, and film in the Canadian wilderness away from anything, so they have tons of room to make it work.

The acting is very good, from the main cast to the increasing secondary characters. The writing is also very well done, including plotlines, dialogue, and the characters acting in believable ways (which is always a HUGE motivator for me in a drama, both to pull me in and drive me away). The actors they've chosen play their parts well, and surprisingly, they actually cast an 18 year old and a 16 year old to play the teen daughters, instead of 20 somethings like many other shows would have.

My biggest negative is that the show is almost entirely serious, and what lighthearted moments there are almost entirely come from two characters. The rest of the cast is dead serious all day, every day. Injecting lines of humor here and there would be a big move in the right direction.

I'm also not big on the fact that they throw the viewer into the action immediately, with no gradual lead in, or getting to know the characters at all. And then any explanation of how they got where they are is done via the occasional flash back. I would have really preferred had they at least taken the first half of the first episode to set things up.

If anyone is a Mike Judge fan and a music fan I highly highly recommend Tales From The Tour Bus. Blend of animation, old video and commentary.

First season was fantastic as it was about outlaw country artists. Some icons and some lesser known. Season two is about Funk, not my favourite although I do like some, it still is really interesting and entertaining. Learn a lot of background things.

I've bailed on The Orville. The first season, it got better as it went on, until it was actually a really good straight scifi show. But this year, it's been reworked into mostly a crude joke, which is unfortunate.

I'm also about to give up on manifest. They continue to focus far too much on the emotions and relationships of the characters, and not nearly enough on progression of the story and plot.

This isn't new but, if you haven't seen it (and maybe if you have...), watch Foyle's War. Man, I get excited just recommending it. If you find the first episode a bit slow, I did too, stick with it. One of the best mystery/cop series of all time.

Just for a flavour, Christopher Foyle is a senior police officer in southern England during 30's onwards. The series opens right before the onset of World War 2 and Foyle wants to go do his part for the larger war effort, but, he's not permitted. His part is to continue his policing while the world changes around him. Freaking awesome series that blends murder mystery, police detective TV with WW2 history. Well written. Well acted. Well worth anyone's time.

Finished Season 3 of DareDevil. Sucks the decision has been made not to renew it as it was the best of the Marvel series that Netflix has put out to date. Have a love/hate relationship with this series as DD was my favorite comic character growing up as a kid and I have tons of the comic books in boxes.

Probably the most personally tormented comic character hero in all of comic-dom. Frank Miller really did a number with him back in the 80s and the made him "the Dark Knight" before they turned Batman into that.... Never really cared about Wolverine either until Miller did the Mini-series of him back in the 80s. #3 was the best Wolverine of all time IMO and there's just something about a man battling his personal demons while struggling to do what he knows is right that draws you in. This was all before he remade Batman from something campy into a mean tormented mofo along the lines of DD and his Wolverine mini-series badass.

Anyway, I digress, but fans of this genre should really love the Netflix DareDevil series.

Best casting in the entire series was Vincent D'onofrio as Kingpin, and Wilson Bethel as Poindexter, if you know who that is without spoiling anything... Electra casting sucked with her accent and mannerisms, and not a big fan of the Charlie Cox casting simply cause he's so short and dark haired, he doesn't fit the tall, slender brooding and dry red-headed character of Matt Murdock/DareDevil. Still, Cox did a good job with the fighting and feigning "blindness".

Gonna miss that series. There's a petition online trying to get Netflix and Disney to change their mind.

well Dano, Im about 6 shows in from the first season and I'm getting frustrated, It seems as though the producers of the show have instructed them to be overly dramatic and negative, these guys are not on the level of survivalists I've watched on other shows, and I do watch a lot of them, I mean on day 2, 3, 4 and 5, four have quit..Now don't get me wrong I respect this process Im just looking at it from a viewer standpoint, and they all seem to be instructed to be as negative as possible and a bit overdramatic..

some of the survivalists I've seen would not quit at the first sound of a bear or cougar at night, especially equipped with flair, pepper spray and knives..A lot of them have been constantly complaining the moment they were dropped off and its now just coming across annoying, even my son agreed..

I'm hoping that the overly dramatic ones needed to be weeded out before its gets good..

Saw the first episode of The Rookie. I'm going to watch the second, see how it goes. Might be worth following. Was better than some of the bad reviews I read.

For those who don't know it stars Nathan Filian in the lead as a newly divorced 40 year old who decides to become a cop. He's one of three rookies.

Wouldn't call it a crime show in the sense that it doesn't look like the cases will be that focus. Instead, the cops look like they'll be front and centre. So a light drama maybe.

I expected light drama with comedic elements. Lots of Nathan Fillion charisma and charm.

The first three episodes were 90% heavy drama, and a lot more intense than I had expected, based on the previews and how it was presented, and I gave up. Heavy internal conflict with the main characters.

I've been watching The Dragon Prince on Netflix, and its really good. Its actually lumped into the kids section and rated Y7, but don't let that fool you. Its a good show, and if it were live action with the same elements, it would be geared towards adults. Good story, mixed with action and humor.

Finally got around to watching the 3rd season, had been putting it off as knew it would be bittersweet as it has been cancelled. Still love the show though, and the 3rd season was a fantastic piece of television, dark and violent but with some natural laugh out loud scenes as well. Luckily, with each season being based on one novel, it at least came to an end as such and didn't finish on a cliffhanger. Might have to check out the novels now, seeing as there won't be a 4th season.

Hap and Leonard's 3rd season was my personal favorite. I can't stand Christina what's her name so I didn't really care for the first season.

I just finished the Umbrella Academy and I loved it until the ending. I'm currently watching Deadly Class. It's set in the 80's and based off a comic by Rick Remender.

Killing Eve season 2 arrives next month and I'm looking forward to that.

My wife started watching Flash on Netflix last Autumn, and is now about halfway throw Arrow. I haven't seen every episode, but they're better than I expected them to be, and certainly better than any of the recent Superman or Batman movies. She's going to start Supergirl when shes done with Arrow, and we'll eventually get to the point you're at.

Jon Cryer is and always will be "Duckie Dale". He does have a bit of range tho and can convey menace.

All said, Eisenberg was terrible casting and even more caricature portrayal. He was the worst part of that movie IMO.

Deadly Class is great. My only complaint is the girl who plays Saya is not a very good actress. Other than that they nailed it.

Watching both Russian Doll and Castle Rock and they are both good so far. Just over a week until Killing Eve.

Amazon put the entire season of HANNA up so I binged the 8 episode season.. excellent. They changed a few things from the movie but all were done to further the script. Acting and plot were excellent. This is a government Is chasing you type of series so if you like that genre definitely watch

Also watched the first episode of WHAT WE DO IN THE SHADOWS. ehhhhh. I'll watch a few more but the characters aren't as funny as the movie nor is the dialogue. In the movie I was laughing almost every minute. With the series it was a laugh here then five minutes later another laugh. Part of the problem may have been a lot of the first episode is in the trailer. I will watch a few more episodes and see if they can recapture the magic but after one episode it doesn't look good
