Rex Ryan's recruiting trip to Nola has got me wondering... If a "booster" of sorts were to slip Lael Collins a numbered bank account with millions in it... Who could say anything? College players get away with it all the time... What is to stop this from happening with any of the 32 franchises?

The other 31 owners would stop this. Circumventing the salary cap is a huge no-no to other owners.

I've posed the question before, got the same answer, its taboo....however, players cheat all the time, so I don't see its so farfetched to think an owner could seven the pot under the table in some capacity...could totally be wrong though...sure is tempting..

Obviously it happens, but it's a big no no. OF course, when it does, the NFL slaps the team on the wrist five years later with a 7th round draft choice taken away. :glare:

Put your dong away, this is cereal.
stringer, that's why I said booster and not owner. -
They could easily circumvent the "tabooness" of the issue. Just have someone put him in a couple local commercials or a billboard and pay him 100x.

I've been thinking along the same rough lines as this thread's question. I'm fairly sure ALL teams that REALLY want him will find other ways to appeal to his wallet besides guaranteed UDFA money. I don't see why in the world they wouldn't...with built-in deniability of course.

The Broncos circumvented the salary cap for both Elway and Terrel Davis when the won their Super Bowls. The got docked draft picks. But they kept their trophies with no asterisks and nobody even remembers.
