The Dolphins had three first-round draft picks in 2020. One of them, Tua Tagovailoa, had his fifth-year option picked up. The other two will not.
The Dolphins are not expected to exercise the fifth-year option on either offensive lineman Austin Jackson or cornerback Noah Igbinoghene, according to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network.
That’s no surprise, as both Jackson and Igbinoghene have struggled to live up to expectations as first-round picks. The Dolphins say they expect Jackson to start at right tackle this season, but last year he played in just two games because of two different ankle injuries.
Igbinoghene has been an even bigger disappointment than Jackson, starting just five games through three NFL seasons. Both Jackson and Igbinoghene are slated to become free agents in March of 2024.

Theyll be out of the league shortly.. austin may be looked at for depth by other teams.. but thats about it for then

Noah could be gone by the end of preseason. Jackson I'm still holding out hope for.

With the drafting of Cam Smith, if he shows the promise that's expected, Iggy's days in Miami are numbered.
Jackson though on the other hand is safe for no other reason than the fact we have nothing for an offensive line.
How I hope one of these rookies steps up and shows he is light years ahead of the curve.Tin Indian likes this. -
Not a big shock to anyone. I don't think Noah makes it thru camp. I expect Jackson on the roster this season simply because we can't replace him with what we have.

Rooting for him, just like any Dolphin....but his chances of making the final roster will solely depend on his growth the next several months. If things are going to click, it's now or never.Phil Hutchings, resnor and dolphin25 like this. -
Even in light of the poor defensive scheme, Darth Kader Kohue did shine and showed why he earned his spot on the team as an undrafted free agent.
I’m hopeful Fangio’s defense will bring out the best in Iggy but if it doesn’t, it’s time to cut sling load. -
Noah's had three seasons to show us something. I think he was drafted to be X's replacement. He would have been a bad pick in the 4th round, so he's nothing less than an embarrassing pick in the first.
-
He's not gone yet though, and he did win a game for us last season with the awesome pick in the end-zone. It's enough to get him a shot in camp anyway. -

I just think we remain patient with Jackson for one more season. He was extremely young when he came into the league. I feel like O Lineman are like Quarterbacks. They have a long shelf life in the league. On top of that, offensive lineman mature and they end up getting their grown man strength at some point. They stick long enough and eventually they're going to be bigger and stronger than a lot of the younger guys in the league. That's the way I see it at least. Jackson is reaching vet status at this point and I just don't think we call it quits on him just yet. I expect a big year from him this season if he can stay healthy. He's playing to stay in the league at this point, contract year...Yeah he's going to deliver for us.

I do like the Cam Smith pick though, he is a much more talented CB than Noah ever has been.
