To me, this is one of those “you have to be kidding me” stories. People wonder what’s wrong with our Country, this is a huge part of it IMO.

Then to add insult to injury the athletic direct pull this crap

I mean really? What a joke.... link

    Thoughts?

As expected, the incident wasn't isolated.

I think the coach should have handled it from the jump. But it reads like he decided not to heed warnings.

So let me get this straight, one guy gets fired and its indicative of what's wrong with our country?

You know what's wrong with our country...people who say things like this are what's wrong with our country.

So a guy gets fired over nonsense, and another guy points it out. The guy points it out brings up that this sensitivity is part of what is wrong with our country is this is now somehow indicative of what's wrong with our country?

I'll tell ya what's wrong with our country... people who single out people who say things like the above are what's wrong with our country.

I'm sorry my master, forgive me for not conforming to your method of thought, how dare I think that such a little thing such as injustice could could be harming our nation.

Hmm, if the girls ran without shirts on maybe interest in Track and Field events would grow?

The Greeks used to run naked, so what is the problem here?

I like how it says that the girls were uncomfortable that the boys ran shirtless. If it was some hot guy, they wouldnt care. its a double standard.

    Edit:

and none of your sh!t-tards say, "you mean like me?"

How many coaches have been fired for this again? Isolated incidents are isolated.

Following your guy's logic, everyone that goes to Pakistan gets shot in the eye by Navy SEALs.

And P.S. He ended the op with "Thoughts?" I guess that was just for everyone else?

I don't think anyone had a problem with the first sentence. When you started calling out posters instead of the posts it makes you look like an ***.

I am not saying that, I am just saying things have changed since the time of the Greeks. We have different sensibilities.

For instance, in American society it would be considered rude to have an annual festival where people kill 20% of their slaves.

The OP is making the claim that this mentality makes our country weak or broken. So, one instance without all the facts in a story that hasn't had a conclusion yet proves a huge problem??????? That's like saying if X happens once, then X always happens. Hence the pakistan thing I said.

One instance of anything, does not equal something wrong with this country. Especially something this trivial.

If something this silly proves there's something wrong with this country after it only happening once, then essentially the poster is saying that a coach who lost his job proves that our country is weak and pathetic. At that point, the question isn't why does that upset me, its why it doesn't upset everyone else.

I think many feel that the country has a become far too sensitive about ever being offended. This one incident doesn't prove that by itself, but it is an example of that over sensitivity. I can't speak for anybody else, but I took the statement "People wonder what’s wrong with our Country, this is a huge part of it IMO", to mean that the incident was an example, not proof in and of itself.

    Nah.

The point is, there's more to this story (as in why was he actually fired) and he still may have the chance to use the judicial system. Quite frankly, I'm so tired of hearing this type of inconsequential crap be blamed for what's wrong with our country.

Hell, for all we know, he broke school policy. If he did and was fired for it, then he represents more what's wrong with our country than the possible policy he broke.

A case of some sphincter-faced administrator drawing a pointless line in the sand and a real man ignoring his sissy ***.

In another time, this either would never have been an issue or the administrator would have been the one fired. For being a pussified little *****.

Where the **** are we as a nation that now a man can't go without a shirt? During participation in a sporting event?!

    What's next? Pasties for Boxers?

While I agree it seems a little silly to not allow the boys to run T&F shirtless, fact of the matter is, the coaches boss's boss told him to not let it happen.
If you value your damn job, then maybe not every fight is worth fighting.
Zero sympathy for the coach. He deserved what he got. he could have backed down and saved his job if he wasn't so adamant about taking a stand vs the super.

I disagree. I see so many "policies" that are ridiculous but followed blindly in lieu of common sense. That's what I see as one the biggest problems we face.

I see, so your solution for a world full of individuals is to essentially wave a magic wand and imbue everyone with common sense?

Point is, for any form of real order the rules must be built for the lowest common denominator. It is impossible for there to be anything else.

No, my solution is not to enact stupid policies or when they are enacted not to jump to the conclusion that anyone who objects to a policy is automatically in the wrong.

Funny, if I remember correctly you were one of the biggest protestors of the Patriot act. Isn’t that law in and of its self the same logic? Giving a lowest common denominator for all parties involved?

What you're doing is no different than arguing with me if I said our body needs food to live and you say, "How can that be true because you don't eat pig products?" It essentially makes no sense.

huh? All I was doing was pointing out that how you feel about this, is how I felt about people crying over the patriot act.

There is always more to the story then what we know (like who the Government was really after), so far the patriot act has been successful in stopping some more attacks on American soil. How many people have filed a law suit against the government (which was provided in the bill) seeking damages for any willful violations of the Act….I save you time looking for the answer 0, none, nada, zilch. Obama sure didn’t get rid of it when he had the chance…….I am also so tired of hearing the inconsequential crap blaming everyone except themselves. Lots of finger pointing, no communication (this has nothing to do with political beliefs, both side do it).

All I know is he did not take off his shirt, or instruct the boy to do it. Also, whatever happened to the good old American law, innocent until proven guilty? Or is that only to be used when it suits you? Meaning, for all we know he did nothing wrong.

I don't even understand on what planet it made sense to make this thread political. Secondly, what in the hairy hell does this have to do with the government or rights? He wasn't thrown in jail. He was fired from a job for breaking rules. And again, if this was a wrongful firing, he still has options to get it corrected, which is an example of what's right with this country.
