Vigil has been killing it, maybe he becomes what we hoped Tripp would be.. I'm not sold on Sheppard.

The coaching staff must feel like Vigil and Hewitt offer more to special teams than Chris McCain.. unless there's a injury we are unaware of. Also wasn't there an article saying Bobby McCain would play in the jack spot, maybe another reason Chris is inactive.

true but he can get injured in pregame warmup and not be on the list. But, perhaps we should have seen this coming. He really fell from grace in preseason. Playing late into that 4th preseason game. I mean no starters (didn't even play) or backups (sparingly if anything) were playing that late.

The Dolphins appear to have much more talent. So on paper this should be a mismatch and the Dolphins should win handily. Unfortunately the game isn't played on paper and it is tough for any team to go into the opposing teams stadium the first game of the season and run away with a win.

probably right. big expectations this year, everyone is excited. To have it all come together the first week of the season is perhaps asking too much. This will be a special season for the Dolphins though. Mark my words. We're going to the super bowl.

Re: Chris McCain being inactive, he didn't show much in the preseason and I also wonder if he's 100% there mentally in terms of being able to fulfill multiple roles (i.e. backup SLB, special teams, playing in Jordan's "Jack" LB spot, etc.)

Again, all this chest thumping - it can all go to hell if the Phins find a way to FK it up with special teams disasters and turnovers.

When he was still playing late in the 4th preseason game, that should have been a clue that he is still having a problem picking up the NFL game.

He has the size and speed to be a very effective player, but obviously something is missing in his game that puts him behind the other LB's on the roster. The fact Vigil and Hewitt are on the active roster and McCain isn't ,clearly shows that his spot on the 53 man roster is tenuous at best.
